My first time @ number 27 and we stopped for a drink and to people watch. Busy enough for a Tuesday afternoon. I got the Argentinian Malbec which was € 9.50/€ 9.00 which is pricey for a glass of wine. Staff were professional, I think I expected more from the Shelbourne.

I really like this place — granted I was here on St Stephen’s Day so the wonderful Christmassy Atmosphere would have helped. The staff are attentive, the seating is comfortable if you’re lucky enough to get a seat, the floor space is ample(without being bare) if you don’t. The décor is very glamorous & the atmosphere is very relaxed. It’s expensive to drink there, but no more so than anywhere else in the city centre!

Let’s face it, we all would like to be seen in the Shelbourne at some stage on a night out. This bar on a random week day still has that weekend buzz and its lovely. Yes, the drinks are pricier than other bars around but you’re not just paying for the drink, you’re paying for the 5* experience too. This you’re guaranteed. Staff are great, mannerly and friendly. The cocktails– top class… Atmosphere is heightened at the weekends and just as enjoyable on a random Monday night. It’s a good place to start your night… But sadly my wallet wouldn’t allow me stay there all night !!!

Came here yesterday for an afternoon drink. Very nice. I love the comfy chairs/sofas while I was sipping on a lovely glass of Shiraz. What can I tell you? Great place for drinks. I love the atmosphere. Love the vibe. And there weren’t any airs about the bar either. A real treat. I’d love to have a nice meal there one evening. Or afternoon tea, which seems to be quite popular.

Went here a late Saturday night for a solo dinner and drink. Could not have felt more comfortable! Had a plate of fish and chips that came with a cute jar filled with delicious tartar sauce. Enjoyed a glass a wine wine and chatted with the my table neighbors. Could not resist dessert so I had the most indulging chocolate cake all by myself in this fun bar/restaurant/lounge at the Shelbourne Hotel. Tables were tall, which made it feel more causal than the rest of the exquisite hotel. They were big enough so that one company could sit on one edge, and me on the other, without disturbing one another. Enough, but not too many, people around to watch. If I’d go out by myself again in Dublin, this is my choice.

Nice bar. It gets pretty loud and with it being open to the public they do get some local drunks spouting off. The horse shoe bar, I think, was much better.

I will start off by prefacing places like this just aren’t my scene. Though I was staying at the Shelbourne, I just don’t do the whole wealthy, swanky scene(even in Orange County) usually but my mom and I were tired after a day of museum going and navigating through the masses on Grafton St on a Saturday. This place is very cool inside with nice tables and cushy chairs(save for the tables with the high stools) and some great, large windows for views of the surrounding city. At first our waiter was unfriendly and couldn’t have been less interested in us(but was very interested in the tables around us of wealthy British and Irish people) but he warmed up after a little while. They have a good wine selection and a delicious French Viognier. I had better seafood chowder in the small towns but their fish and chips and fries were delicious. Fantastic tartar sauce. A good place to stop in especially if you’re staying at the hotel and just want some good drinks and something to munch on. Just be prepared for a little bit of a snooty atmosphere and not necessarily the Irish hospitality you might be used to getting at other places in Dublin or Ireland if you’re not buying many bottles of Veuve Clicquot.

The No. 27 Bar is wonderful. It has a young, hip vibe, and a lively crowd. It’s a gorgeous space, with high ceilings, huge, light-filled windows that front St. Stephen’s Green, traditional touches but not too stuffy. It’s very popular with fashionable locals, as it was packed every evening we were there(we stayed at the hotel so went to the bar frequently) — especially the weekend nights. What a fun bar! Good food too — I had the best ham sandwich of my life(possibly because they use butter as a condiment).

For my 100th review, somewhere a little bit special. Grab a rich relative or just max out the credit card! Yes it cost a fortune in the Shelboune’s second most famous bar but sometimes it has to be done. The no 27 is definitely a special occassion kinda place. Don’t look at the prices, you know you probably can’t afford it. So order that bottle of champagne. This is the best hotel bar in Dublin by a mile. Rub shoulders with the(now much poorer) property tycoons, TD’s the great and the not so good. Although its full of rich people you never get the impression your not welcome, as long as you can pay your more then welcome. Certainly one of the swankiest bars in Dublin, also does a great cocktail menu. Even go just to see the toilets, they’re immaculate!
