Morgan Bar Eats & Treats

Really rude staff. One of the worst experiences I’ve had in Dublin in a long time. Avoid!

The Morgan Bar has always been somewhere I’d pass by on a proper night out with my touristy friends. I’ve always wondered what went on in there, but never really had an opportunity to try it out until recently. And what better way to try a new place than with the Unilocal Elite crew?
Upon arrival, we were greeted by the bartender and directed to our little area before the event started. What I noticed immediately was what a great host the manager was; he was friendly, approachable, and knowledgable on the night’s itinerary. We began the event with Bellini cocktails as he ushered us upstairs for a tour of the penthouse.
The penthouse had a rooftop terrace with panoramic views of the city. The rooftop had a nice decked out caravan as well as a long table adorned with a beautiful chandelier; it was pretty magical. So, if you’re hosting a small party, I’d highly recommend this intimate setting as your next venue.
Downstairs, you have a little area with large, comfortable couches, and as you make your way down the bar, there are rooms sectioned out for private parties. The star of the night was undoubtedly the bartender. He put on quite the show with his enthusiasm and expertise in mixology. After we all received our mojitos, tapas were brought out and they looked absolutely delicious.
The tapas plate came with mozzarella balls, pulled pork wraps, calamari, garlic buttered prawns, and chicken quesadillas. The mozzarella balls were magnificent because it was the first time in Dublin that I had something packed with so much flavor. The chicken quesadillas were delicious, though the sauces were a tad heavy; but I suppose if you are in the mood for heavier foods, you’re swinging in the right ballpark! I didn’t get a chance to taste the calamari, but they seemed delicious enough. The only items on the plate that weren’t my cup of tea were the pulled pork wraps and garlic buttered prawns. The wraps were doused too heavily in BBQ sauce, leaving an overpowering BBQ monstrosity in your mouth. The garlic buttered prawns looked great, but when I tried them, they were cold, and it didn’t sit well with me. Other than that, I’d recommend the other items on the plate. If I had a party, I’d probably go Oprah on the mozzarella balls – mozzarella ball for you! And for you! And for you! Mozzarella balls for everyone!
After the tapas, we ended the lovely evening with profiteroles and tiny chocolate cakes! It was a wonderful evening and I’m so glad to have been a part of this event! Emily really outdid herself putting this together – she should get all the mozzarella balls.

Was here for a Unilocal event a few nights back and while I enjoyed the peoples that I got to meet up with on my first such occasion and wished I could have stayed longer before rushing off for work, I both liked and didn’t like the venue.
The décor, I mean you can see that they have spend money on the place, no doubt. But in my opinion, it’s only a couple of degrees from tacky to be honest. Lots of purples and velvet. A classier Wrights Venue just immediately jumped into my mind.
I will say that we were given a tour of the penthouse suite and that was much more the part (still with the odd ostentatious touch too) The cocktails handed out were top notch, cocktail guy had game. The finger food, I’ve had better and couldn’t rave about it really. It does feel a little mean spirited to diss when evrything I got was complimentary but there it is.

I haven’t been to a Unilocal event in a while as I just seem to be busy and then too tired when they come around but if this event is anything to go by then boy, have I been missing out!
I was a little nervous as I don’t really know any of the Unilocalers and I knew this was a small group but as always I was welcomed with a smile and a hug from Emily who quickly made sure I got to know a few people.
Within five minutes of arrival we were served our first drink, not entirely sure what was in there, perhaps amaretto and more topped off with prosecco — whatever it was I enjoyed it. to begin the night we were given introductions to our hosts, the hotel and our mixoligist for the evening. We were then given a tour of the Penthouse which I have always wanted to see and of course as you can imagine… amazing, the views are OK: p.
Back downstairs we were greeted with another cocktail! The Morgan mojito and I was very surprised that we were given big, full glasses as I had expected them to trim down the portions but no, delighted!
Up next was our master class from our world class mixologist, he took simple suggestions from us and then created drinks which were both visually and mouth-​wateringly delicious — he knows his stuff. It’s fascinating to watch him construct the drinks, his measures were exact for the type of glass he had picked and not a drop was wasted.
I requested a drink, rum, no cucumber or coconut with a hint of choclate — DELICIOUS — perfect combination of sweet and sour with a bitter dark choclate bite at the end, we had to name it, I’m not very creative so we went for «The Declan», I’m sure he’ll remember it if you pop and place an order: p
We were also served food, which was good but it seemed like the eveneing was more about the cocktails and I didn’t hear anyone complain about that. I’ve eaten here before so had an idea of the food but was nice to have a little sample of a wide range of dishes on offer. I was surprised but the calamari, I’m not noramlly a fan but it was delicious with a very this batter.
Overall the night was a great experience, I got to meet some lovely poeple, drink some amazing and unique cocktails while sampling the food. What I really loved about this event was that it felt exclusive, like something special — a little view into the Morgan and how it works, an experience that most people will not have but I guess thats what comes with being a Unilocal Eliter and I feel like the small contribution I make to the site is appricated

My first Unilocal event and certainly not my last. The Morgan Bar used to be my go-​to six or seven years ago when I first moved to Dublin and worked in Temple Bar — I’d go there after work on a regular basis, for a glass of wine (or a cocktail if we were feeling fancy) and some nibbles, I even spent birthdays and New Years Eve there a few times, but over the last years it sort of dropped off my radar. After last night it is definitely back on! The atmosphere is as stylish as ever and it was lovely to connect with fellow Unilocalers. We were brought up to the penthouse and roof terrace which are simply gorgeous, I might try to find enough people to chip in to be able to come back!
The cocktails were amazing throughout. I asked for something custom-​made without giving more pointers than «I like whiskey sour» and «something fresh» and what I got was fantastic. Definitely something I would order again, and great to know that the Morgan is still on top of their cocktail game!
I can’t say much about the tapas — as a vegetarian I could only try a couple but what I had was great. Huge props for the dessert though — the mini chocolate éclairs were really nice. Overall, thanks for a great evening!

Thanks Emily for another outstanding event! You’ve set the bar high with this one. Morgan hotel is such a lovely setting for cocktails and tapas. Even the powder room is stylish if a bit garish. There is so much purple everywhere and some wonderfully weird art. Adds to the atmosphere though.
The event was an intimate affair with the elite of Unilocal there and wow I’m glad I didn’t miss this one. We were met by a delicious cocktail and given an introduction by the manager who brought us to the penthouse suite on the 4^th floor. There we wandered and took photos of our opulent surroundings. The penthouse even has a stairs to an upstairs open area with 70’s caravan and decking and hopefully some day i’ll get an invitation to a party there. Only about € 700 per night!
Then we returned to the bar area where we got to mix and drink more wonderful creations by Johnny the cocktail and taste some tapas. Prawns, Calamari, duck rolls, bruschetta and quesadillas were served and we didn’t go home hungry!
Will be back and highly recommend this place either for staying at for a night or for spoiling oneself with cocktails.

Another fantastic Unilocal Event, maybe the best one yet!
I was expecting Eats and Treats, what I wasn’t expecting was to be treated to such an amazing evening. The Morgan Bar and Hotel staff that accompanied us were truly excellent and accommodated every request we had. We got a wonderful tour of the penthouse and followed that with some of the best food and cocktails I’ve ever had.
There really isn’t much more I can say other than ‘WOW’. Of the food, the chicken wrap was just divine and the calamari was a very pleasant surprise. Even the cheese balls were perfectly cooked! The cocktails, though, were out of this world. We were lucky to be treated to some truly world-​class cocktails, all coming to a head in the grand finale with a smoke-​infused Rum cocktail that I could just have all day, every day.
This taste of the Morgan made me really want to go back for more, so they will see me there very soon!

Eats and Treats were promised and boy god, Eats and Treats were had!
Fantastic warm welcome from the folks at The Morgan Bar… We were treated to prosecco on arrival then a tour of their hotel Penthouse followed by an awesome cocktail making display, platters of tapas and a flurry of Morgan Mojitos… All finished off with some sweet dessert treats and the final display of cocktail making which is like nothing I’ve seen before… With the award winning by mixologist whipping up a smoke infused rum cocktail!
I never had this bar down as a place to grab tapas… Yep, it’s firmly up on my radar now, everything was flavoursome and portioned great. The staff as well made us feel extremely welcome and talked us through what they are trying to achieve with their menu and bar as well as the type of entertainment they lay on. I’m so glad they hosted us, again another great venue for me to return to. I know quite a few friends who will definitely enjoy hanging out here so looking forward to planning something here real soon.

An event, a really good event, is always more than the sum of its parts. Anyone can take a bunch of random social media savvy type people, put them in a room of a hotel with willing and generous hosts and hope for the best. Emily C manages, without fail, to match the Unilocalers with the hosts and venue and produce something more, something infinitely rewarding and enjoyable — which is (again) what we were treated to in the Morgan last eve.
From the moment we arrived and a cocktail thrust in to our hands, to the tour of the spectacular Penthouse and outdoor area with the beautiful city vistas to the tapas we were treated to, it was exceptional. Add to that a lesson in how to produce a cocktail fit only for the gods (and let’s be honest, the audience were to a man, Unilocaling Gods) and the result was a thoroughly enjoyable eve that will soon be repeated.

Can’t go wrong with superbly prepared cocktails accompanied with tapas and a tour of a very chic penthouse with a rooftop view to kill!
We were welcomed very warmly by the host and Emily (maybe not so much as we were 10 min early lol ;-)) and promptly served a citrus-​plummy cocktail to whet our appetites while we toured their penthouse suite. You could see the cogs in everyone’s minds organising some kick-​ass events of their own there!
The cocktails were one of the best we have had, with great showmanship from the bartender — no idea how he remembers the endless list of ingredients though! Oh well as the saying goes… if you can’t make a cocktail, then be the one drinking them! I would have liked the event to be more hands-​on in the cocktail making process but I guess it would have been difficult to organise with 20 attendees.
Tapas was nice for what I sampled but did not get to try most of the dishes as there was one platter shared among our group of 8. I did make up for it by wolfing down 5 chocolate eclairs ;)
All in all — another great elite event and definitely a venue to visit after payday (quick glance of menu — middle to upper price range!)

Yet another great Unilocal event, thank you Unilocal and The Morgan Bar.
We were greated warmly with a lovely cocktail and tour of the penthouse. The penthouse is an amazing space and can be rented out for private parties. I would definitely consider using it for a party. There is a large sitting room downstairs with a stairs leading to the rooftop. The rooftop is what sets this place apart, it’s beautifully landscaped, has a cool vintage caravan and great views of the city. It would be perfect for a party of between 35 – 45 people.
It was then back downstairs for a cocktail making demo by the bars very talented mixologist. And then another great cocktail, it was a mohito with passion fruit. We were also given platters of tapas to sample while we enjoyed our drinks. I thought the standard was was really good, everything was very tasty. The dessert platters was great, it’s been so long since I’ve had chocolate eclairs.
Separate to the Unilocal event, I have also been in The Morgan for a bbq with work after a team building day. The Morgan put on a great spread and the service was great.

Yet another fantastic Unilocal event, this was brilliant!
I loved the intimate vibe to it and it was perfect because the hotel was able to personalise the experience, and we got to see the amazing penthouse! One of the most unique ones I’ve seen!
The food was really good and the cocktail master made our night with what can only be called true art coming to life.
The desserts were delicious, I had 4 eclairs and zero regret.

Every now and then you get treated to a cocktail night out but this was seriously good!
Greeted with a lovely twist on a Bellini (I think mine had a little bit of kiwi in it!)
Shortly after arrival we were brought up to view the penthouse! Wow! I can tell you now. Every single person there was thinking of themselves having a party there! An incredible spot for celebrating!
But if the penthouse is a little OTT for your celebration then the bar is just perfect! Little did we know that the cocktail mixologist was the number one mixologist in Ireland! The cocktails are great!
Tapas was in the menu for food and it was honestly amazing! There was nothing left on our platter! It was enough for us to agree that we’d be back for dinner during the week!

Such a fantastic night, and a great opportunity to meet fellow Unilocalers and kick back with a few cocktails and choice morsels to nibble on… not exactly a bad way to spend a Wednesday evening!
Getting the chance to view the Penthouse suite and roof terrace AND being treated to a masterclass on cocktail-making…sure what else could you want in fairness! Great event, awesome people and amazing cocktails… what’s not to love!?!

My first Unilocal event and boy I’m glad I went! We were greeted upon arrival with a lovely bellini cocktail, followed by a tour of the hotel– oh hello amazing penthouse + rooftop terrace! — I hope to be able to see you again one day!
One of the bartenders was shaking up some amazing custom cocktails — an art and show in itself!
A platter of delicious tapas arrived to our tables –polished off in no time, and more cocktails to follow (this time their signature passionfruit cocktail) And oh! why not throw some dessert in there as well, huge fan of the profiteroles!
The night was so well organised and fab atmosphere. I was happy to meet some fellow Unilocalers.
A real treat for what could have been just another boring auld Wednesday night!

Such an epic night packed with Elitey goodness! Delicious cocktails, great tapas, excellent company! I’ve never been into cocktails but this event, and the talented Mixologist completely changed my mind. His cocktails were a work of art. Now I’ve seen what cocktails can be, and now I’ll be broke… indefinitely.
Did not expect to get to try so many different cocktails, and I loved each one. Starting with the Bellini (mine had apple) then a Mohito which I typically don’t like at all, but totally loved this one (maybe thanks to the secret ingredient: passionfruit!), then I was lucky enough to have the Mixologist make me the Bene-​Blush which was de-​lish, and the icing on the cake was the final «Smoking Dome» cocktail which was quite a show. Never seen a cocktail made with such flare and never tasted anything quite like it. Really something special and feel so lucky to have been one of the three chosen ones who got to enjoy it! Each drink topped the one before it, and would definitely order any of them any day.
Checking out the pent house was a very cool perk, super swanky with a gorgeous view, can only hope I’ll be invited for a party there one day!
The Tapas were also great, loved everything we got to try especially the casadilla. The eclairs and brownies were also delicious! Such a great night that flew by. Definitely need more events like this one, it was one of my fav. events to date (and not just because I won the awesome prize!) Thanks again to Emily and everyone at the Morgan Bar for an amazing night!

My first Elite Event, and a fabulous one it was! We were all given a welcome bellini on arrival, and promptly led upstairs to see their Penthouse Suite. The suite itself comprises of two levels, one with kitchen/​lounge area, bedroom & bathroom. Everything is white or purple, with lots of nice textures, fur throws, mirror etc. The real draw is however the spectacular rooftoop terrace. It’s quite spacious and has great views over the city. On seeing it I immediately started party-​planning in my head! :) The hotel staff informed us that it’s regularly rented for different events and parties, and that it’s cool to bring guests up until midnight. For example, they said a wedding party was being hosted there this weekend of forty guests. Pretty cool!
I’ve been to the Morgan before & have always loved their quirky furniture & styling. It’s kind of kitschy-​glamour. Especially love the playful mooning-​Mona Lisa lift mural!
We were given a cocktail demonstration then & Morgan Mojitos from the bar.
We had large tapas plates served for all to share. It looked great! I enquired from the host about vegetarian options on the plate, and he pointed out what I could have. He then said that if I liked he could take out some more veggie options for me, which was great! The veggie tapas arrived a little later & consisted of spring rolls, samosas & nachos. While I really appreciated the gesture, the food itself wasn’t spectacular. It was like bar bites — not particularly Spanish!
The dessert plates were probably my highlight — super yum. Particularly loved the eclairs, I think everyone did!
Overall, a fab night. I was sceptical about attending as I was going alone not knowing anyone, but I’m so glad I did! Met a lovely group of friendly people & got to experience somewhere again in a new light. Definitely plan on coming back again for cocktails soon.

We all know what we are getting into. The Morgan Bar is that cocktail bar where we go once every second Blue Moon. Do you wanna meet the Plastic? Just go to The Morgan Bar! (Reference to the movie ‘Mean Girls’ :)
The music is very particular. People come from another planet. The prices for drinks are probably made up for Kim’s bank account, which we all secretly dream of. We hate this place. But we love it. We love to hate it basically…

Nice idea for such a good event in town.
We had the opportunity to meet managers and head barman, drink signature cocktails and taste some food. We had also the privilege to view the top floor suite with purple door :-) great view from the balcony.
I had offered a sweet Mohito, and I watched the Mixologist guru prepare some extra few for the lucky ones.
Food was good and well presented. I liked the concept of a garlic bruschetta with sundried tomato and blue cheese. I will try at home.
About the dessert, the presentation was inviting, but on the taste they weren’t the top in comparison with the food. For example, the fudge chocolate cake was cold. Usually you serve it mild warmed, so the triple chocolate inside it becomes soft and all the flavours come out. I think when you order it at the bar they prepare it properly :-)
