Handmade Curiosities & Accoutrements Gift Shop in Temple Bar.

We make jewelry, art, gifts, clothing, new, upcycled/​recycled with an ethically produced or local angle. We like quirky, odd & beautiful items different than what you’d find in the mainstream shops or chains.

We specialize in steampunk jewellery, vintage style gemstone jewellery, men’s cufflinks & felted wool original creations & custom orders.

You can see us in action most days creating at our workspace at the back of the shop.

We showcase the affordable handcrafted items of over 25 Irish based artists & designers such as Chupi, Jenny Walsh, MAgne, Sinead Clarke, Courtney Tyler, James Carroll of Stickman, Oh Boy Cufflinks.

We embrace Irish handmade & supporting local business. We carry a handful of unusual items from around the world– such as Goorin Bros caps but approximately 75% of our stock has been lovingly handcrafted in Ireland.

History

Established in 2007.

MayFly started off with many previous years of trading in markets and festivals around Dublin as Courtney Designs. Courtney sourced original and handmade items directly from the artists during her travels to Bali and Thailand. Over time she started her original label Courtney Designs with sterling silver jewellery and gemstones. Courtney Designs frequented Cow’s Lane Designer market, People’s Park Dun Laoghaire, Electric Picnic and the RDS National Crafts and Design Fair each December.

In 2008 MayFly opened off Camden Street beside the Cake Café. We were in this location for 2 years but then Courtney as MayFly decided to make the leap to Temple Bar and the heavier footfall.

We’ve never looked back! MayFly has been thriving in this busy and tourist location ever since. We are on the ground floor of the garish pink building known as Se Si with Lucy’s Lounge Vintage in the basement.

MayFly has become a collection of artists and designers with the collaboration of MAgne in the back room

Business Owner

Detroit-​born, Dublin-​based jewellery designer and craft-​worker.

Courtney’s pieces are varied and diverse.

They include:

–Fanny Westgate Collection– quirky & vintage inspired affordable jewellery & accessories such as hats and bags.

–Wild Card Accoutrements– novelty & costume jewellery & accessories with a sense of humor.

–Courtney Designs– eclectic artisan sterling silver & gemstone jewellery.

–Oh Boy Cufflinks of Distinction– novelty cufflinks & men’s tie pins.

She runs MayFly and likes to work with Irish based craftworkers and to source handmade ‘curiosities and accoutrements’ from around the world. Her passion is to make a living being creative.

Apart from this she likes most being in Wicklow with her family & Poncho the dog. Walks in the woods, keeping bees, getting beat terribly at chess, baking scones and building a treehouse & are the most current pastimes. She is re-​vamping an old blue library bus that will become her workshop.
