… Walked by this place many times but on Saturday as I strolled by their outside chalkboard caught my attention, some breakfast listings and wait for it, a bacon buttie… Yes, the little hungover head thought all my christmas’ came at once. Was about 2pm and I skipped into this little small café… We’ll have 2 bacon butties please(with biggest giddy head on me) and in a flash, my giddiness was replaced with sadness… Sorry, we stop serving them at 12… Ok, fine… But was is it about places leaving their chalkboards out indicating brekkie or brunch options if your no longer serving them… TAKETHESIGNIN or at least change it to the menu you’re now serving. In the end, being a little hungry I turned my eye to their sausage rolls which looked pretty impressive, the lady heated them up and served on a place to us with no condiments or cutlery… Fear not, my legs work so I popped to the counter to get some. After 3 – 4 bites I was done, it was dry and lacked flavour… Plus both hubby and I had pleasure of them repeating on us all day! First impression done and I’ll not be back :-(

Coffee too hot and therefore lacked any real flavour. Perhaps the machine was playing up or we got the guy on an off day but the coffee wasn’t up to scratch. Nice to sit and people watch and the pastries looked good

I ate breakfast here our last morning in Dublin. We arrived shortly after the café opened and managed to grab three of the five bar stools.(Most customers ordered their breakfast and coffees to-go.) I had intended to order a savage roll, but I wasn’t that hungry so I ordered a scone and some yogurt and granola instead. I wish I ordered the savage roll instead of the scone. I thought the scones were hard and dry at not nearly as flavorful as the scones we had enjoyed our first day in Dublin. The scone was only served with a small pat of butter so I suggest paying the extra € 0.35 for the homemade jam or marmalade. While I was a little underwhelmed with my breakfast I think I just selected the wrong item from the menu.(It would have been much appreciated if the girls behind the counter had made some suggestions since they could tell we didn’t know what to order.) I would give this spot another go and try their breakfast muffins, savage rolls, or breakfast pot next time. Lolly and Cooks wasn’t my favorite breakfast spot in Dublin, but it was a convenient spot to grab a quick breakfast if you are in a rush.

I find lolly and cooks to be a bit underwhelming from a size perspective. There are basically 4 or 5 seats here, and that’s it. Also, the menu is mostly based on time of day — so be coming early if you want breakfast items, as noted by Ashley. That said, that has nothing to do with just how absolutely awesome the food is here. The food is extremely well done. I had an awesome veggie panini, and the lattes here are excellent. Not to mention that baking may be their specialty, because the scones are amazing! I honestly wish I had more chances to come here. If I had to compare one place to the concept of starbucks but without being it, Lolly and Cooks would fit the bill — you have a good selection.

They have a number of gluten free sweets/desserts, but the supply is limited at the end of the day. The GF, dairy-free, sugar free chocolate brownie is excellent, with a pleasant texture and hits the spot for any chocolate-craver! The GF lemon bar is yummy, but I was a bit dismayed to see how greasy the wrapper was after only 10 minutes. The staff was helpful in pointing out the best choices in the display case.

Recent saturday lunch here. Food was definitely 5⁄5 and great value but service was appalling. Hot food was served cold(ie only cursory 10 seconds in microwave), Focaccia took inexplicably long time in empty shop(ie 10 – 15 minutes) to arrive only to be wrong order. Similar time taken for repeat focaccia. Food was plonked down on shelf beside us with zero courtesy. Conversation between two staff members seemed to be No 1 Priority. A real pity as the food was exemplary and well priced.

Had an amazing salad box from Lolly and Cooks at lunch. The standard of food is consistently good here… the gingerbread and lime cupcake is my all time favourite too!

Best Soup in Dublin ! I love that they tweet the soup every day before lunch so I can check what they have before I go up there — having said that I always want whatever soup they have ! Amongst my favourites are: Broccoli and Parmesan; Tomato, Chilli & Coconut; Mushroom & Taragon — I am yet to be disappointed by any of the soups I have tried. They also have an amazing range of cupcakes in really interesting flavours and even Gluten Free !! The staff are also really friendly and helpful — what more could you ask for ??

Lolly and Cooks is my favourite place to grab lunch. They have loyalty cards for their coffee, cup cakes and savage sausage rolls… and I can confirm, they are indeed savage! I am not a massive cup cake fan(as I hate icing) but I must admit, they do a dazzling variety of cup cakes(and offer mini as well as standard sizes). I recently tried the red velvet cup cake and it’s yummy(I did however have to scrape the icing off… I know, what’s wrong with me!) The can’t-be-beat sandwich is the curried chicken(it is like a posh version of coronation chicken) with iceberg lettuce(the perfect accompaniment) on wholemeal bread. It keeps you full because they don’t skimp on the filling. The sandwiches are freshly made each day, so you can’t go wrong. I have also tried their scones(the berry scone is the best; the walnut and maple is too sweet for my tastes), and their salads(love the healthy albeit small choice); they do quinoa and it is more than edible! Yet to try their hot food. Finally, you get service with a smile.

The savage rolls, oh my, oh my… I must be honest, I hate sausage rolls. I actually even hate sausages. These are not your average sausage roll. For starters, they are about 3 times the size. Try em and see! Yum. Lolly & Cooks do a daily hot pot which is pretty good value at € 6.50 for a large portion. It’s very filling. Some are better than others. Tuesday’s chorizo and lentil stew is really tasty whereas I wasn’t so gone on Wednesday’s Lemony Chicken– it really wasn’t very lemony! I also rather like their Beef & Guinness stew. I felt their salad bar looked more appealing than it tasted and that the options on the few times I have considered a salad haven’t been varied or exciting enough. I might be asking too much from a salad bar though… They have an excellent array of cupcakes of all shapes and sizes and lovely slices of quiche– the ham, cheese and tomato one is suuuuper cheesy. A very nice lunch spot.

I always noticed the bright blue when I walked down Merrion Street. Finally I came in here for breakfast on a Sunday. Though small, it was very cute. It was not too busy at the time, and was a wonderful place to enjoy a slice of quiche and tea. The ham, cheese and tomato quiche was really delicious. My boyfriend got a breakfast bowl of yogurt, fruit, and granola that was amazing as well. They added a great berry compote. The prices were very reasonable and the cashier was friendly. I would love to go back and try their lunch items soon, as everything else in their display looked great.

The bright blue storefront really does draw your attention… I couldn’t help but stop by on my walk home today. I ordered their daily hot pot — lemony chicken rice for Wednesday; it was AMAZING. So flavorful and really hit the spot. I ordered the medium portion and felt it was just right as any more would have been too much. You can tell the ingredients are really fresh! Also asked the cashier for her cupcake recommendation — her favorite was the gingerbread lime which was delicious! You can really taste the lime in the cupcake frosting. Definitely coming back to try some of those savage rolls!

Healthy, nutritious, and delicious options abound at this bright blue cubicle of a corner café. Given the limited space and seating, I recommend either office catering or take away(you can eat outside the box at nearby Merrion Square or Stephen’s Green). The food(including soup, sandwiches, and salads) is definitely a notch above the typical café fare, and the staff seem to know and care about the offerings on display(«Can we heat that up for you?» «We have five different types of these focaccia sandwiches.» — The one I tried was über-fresh and filling). Spinach and feta is my favorite type of omelette, and I found my match made into a heavenly muffin — OMGG!(Oh, my Greek Gods!) Thankfully, it was a reasonable — and not Olympian — sized one. And, yes, you can have your(gluten-free) cupcakes and other bakery delights, too. They even have a daily combo deal on a hot drink and scone. I don’t know who Lolly is, but someone here definitely cooks(and bakes, too!).
