K Chido Mexico

I’ve given this place not one but four tries as I work in the area and each and every time I am really disappointed with how average the food is. Isn’t the point of a food truck to be able to create and showcase that special thing or things that you create in in a lower risk environment?
This is clearly just a food truck for the aesthetic and nothing more. When it’s busy the wait is about 15 – 20 minutes, and the output is incredibly middle of the road. I’ve had the nachos and tacos which are both nothing to write home about. The staff are pleasant and upbeat which is the only thing that really stands out. The rice and beans that accompany the tacos are so flavourless and I feel that they are included so customers can come away from the experience thinking «well at least I’m full».
Also, they bafflingly put rice in the breakfast burrito. Maybe this is a traditional Tex-​mex approach but I personally didn’t find this filler contributing to the overall taste or enhancing the dish.

Nice breakfast burrito, I wanted huevos rancheros, but it was only available at the weekend.
So I went for the chorizo breakfast burrito and an americano. Both were very tasty, I will be back at the weekend to try the rancheros!

Despite the very hipsterish exterior/​interior, this place actually seems quite authentic. It’s colourful and cosy (despite being open to the elements, which was a nice surprise!). The menu is pretty extensive. It consists of all the usual suspects; burritos, tacos, quesadillas… The prices are reasonable, ranging from 5 – 10 euro for food and 2 – 3 for coffee. The staff were great, despite it being really busy they were friendly and helpful!
I came here with two others, we ordered two veggie & chorizo quesadillas and the huevos rancheros. The quesadillas didn’t look huge but I could barely finish it, definitely plus for portion size! They were good but not great. I imagined the veggies to be peppers and onions but got mushrooms and courgette (A quick google has confirmed this to be the authentic recipe but it was just a bit too slimy/​soggy, for want for a better word, for me!) The chorizo was yum though.
Serious food envy watching the huevos being devoured. They looked amazing! I shall be back to try them out myself.

At the weekend i finally got a chance to stop into K Chido. I pass it all the time on my bike and have been wondering what it would be like. I can image the location in what seems like a garage would put some people off but all I can say is WOW !! The food which is served out of a little food truck really did not disappoint.
I had a breakfast burrito and my girlfriend had Huevos Rancheros — both were awesome. The kind of food that manages to be light and yet really satisfying and filling. The ingredients were really fresh and so tasty. They also serve some dishes with rice and beans which really tasted so like the Brazilian version.
The place is really cool once you go in off the street with colourful seats and tables. Really welcoming and so unique. The staff were really friendly and so helpful to me choosing from the menu for my first time. I also felt it was really good value and was really full for only € 7
So now I’m totally hooked I don’t think I’ll be able to pass by again without stopping in.

I walk by this place every other day. It looks great; its in the entrance to an old fruit warehouse, the door way is painted with really cool graffiti (I think Rabbit Hole Marketing might be responsible for the art), its got lots of cool upcycled furniture inside made from old crates and such and the kitchen is in the back of a brightly coloured old truck. There is usually cool music blasting on the speakers too. Today it was Mexican pop punk music.
I went in here for a breakfast burrito during the Summer last year. While I remember the burrito being delicious, I also remember how it took them half an hour to make it. I spent most of my lunch break waiting on this burrito and although it was good it was not worth the wait.
I went in there again today and the place has not improved much. I was looking forward to trying their tortas but they dont do them on the weekend. I got a chorizo breakfast burrito. It was very bland in fact the only thing I could really taste was the refried beans. There was about 5 pieces of chorizo in the burrito in total which provided the odd burst of flavour but not really enough.
This place looks so cool that I want it to be better but seen as it isn’t that great I probably will not be going back until they really step up their game.

K Chido has always caught my eye but I have never ventured in before today. The décor is really bright & colourful. It’s basically like they opened up a big garage one day, stuck a really cheerful looking food truck inside and some make shift tables/​seats out of old crates. It’s actually a really nice spot to chill out in and there’s loads of space if you wanted to come with a big group of mates. I also really dug the music!
The only part of K Chido I wasn’t really keen on sadly was my food! I got a breakfast burrito, which had a friend egg, cheese, refried beans and veggies. The burrito itself was fine. Just fine. Not amazing, not awful, just grand. There was very little flavour to it apart from the beans. It was overall, a fairly bland burrito. As I really liked the place itself, I might come back again to try something else, although probably not in a hurry!

For years I’d been searching for something resembling real Mexican food in Dublin. I’ve tried most of the major burrito joints and they’re fine but they’re not real Mexican… they make «Irish burritos», few enchiladas, most salsa either has no taste or explodes in your mouth (and yet strangely still has no real taste just fire).
K Chido is different! They make some of the most authentic Mexican food I’ve had on this side of the Atlantic. I particularly like their breakfast burritos plus anything made with their chorizo is really good. They have what looks to be an excellent brunch menu that I’m looking forward to trying.
It’s also priced the way Mexican street food should be priced: cheap!
I’d encourage anybody who’s on a quest for better Mexican food to stop by. Don’t walk by it as it’s almost hidden in an old truck bay on the luas tracks in between Capel Street and the Four Courts. Please note it’s not open for dinner, all you’ll just see then is a sad, closed truck bay garage door.

Perfect spot on a lazy Sunday afternoon, filling our ravenous tummies with breakfast burritos and pork tacos while browsing the papers on the surprisingly comfy pallet seats.
Additional brunch items on the weekend — I was eyeing up another patron’s Heuvos Rancheros which looked amazing!
Very reasonably priced at € 17 for food + coffee too. Note there’s no soy milk or herbal teas for any lactose intolerant customers!

Delicious tacos, the best I’ve had in Dublin.
K Chido is hidden gem between cable street and Smithfield — you can’t miss it, it’s the place covered in art! The kitchen is an old Citroen van which adds to the charm. I ordered the pork tacos which were delicious and at 8 quid for 3, not too pricey. The guy beside me ordered a breakfast burrito which looked delicious, it’s what I’ll get the next time.
K Chido is a little out of then way, but well worth it. I’ll definitely be back very soon.

I’d heard tales of a bus in a garage on the north side selling some of the best burritos in town… and the tales turned out to be true.
Severely hungover I set out with trepidation looking for the legend, and a tangling road I did have to follow to find it. Just off Capel St., hidden behind a garage wall of (cool) graffiti, a blue bus lay with pink benches in front of it. It was surprisingly busy, obviously tales of the blue bus had spread far & wide.
Inside the bus were two Spanish speaking men, I knew that this could only be a good thing. I ordered the vegetarian breakfast burrito, it was € 5 and it was 2pm in the day so it was the obvious choice. And wow, what a feast for a hungover man. This was not your standard (but usually high quality) Dublin burrito. This was something different, and in my books a place doing something different + great = an experience worth trying again & again.
The scrambled eggs, the vegetables, the rice all tasted incredibly fresh & authentic. The tortilla wrap had been baked slightly and was ever so crackly, something I actually really liked. This is also the first burrito place in town I’ve seen doing breakfast burritos (which kinda blows my mind because they’re amazing) but I’m going to return to try other items on the menu to get an even better comparison.
The only thing I can slightly fault is that the location is non-​central but apart from this, it’s worth every step to get there.

I like it, it’s different!
I was passing by one morning and I dropped in for a breakfast burrito with chorizo and it was good. Maybe not the best burrito I’ve ever had but it was good. The coffee was nice too.
It was a beautiful morning and the sun was shining in so I enjoyed it. Not sure would I have enjoyed it so much on a cold winter morning!
I’d like to try more on the menu and will drop in again when passing. Nice to see a place like this adding variety. Thanks.

One of the few Mexican places in Dublin where you can get tacos made with real corn tortillas (gluten-​sensitive people rejoice!). I tried the pulled pork tacos and they were very tasty. We also loved the brightly painted food truck set-​up and the casual communal seating. For those that don’t work in the area, they’re unfortunately not open at night, but you can check them out on the weekend. On Saturdays and Sundays, they have a brunch menu offered as well on top of their regular menu.
My one complaint about this place was the service was SO slow. We were there for a late lunch on a Sunday afternoon, so it wasn’t very busy, but still took 20 minutes to get our food. For tacos and burritos, that is a bit ridiculous. This is Mexican fast food. I’d recommend them if you’re not in a rush to be anywhere. It might have just been an off day, but it would have been a 4-​star review otherwise!

This is my favourite new lunch spot on the Northside, located on the Luas tracks, slap bang between Smithfield and Capel Street — the colourful exterior is hard to miss!
Taking its cue from American street food trucks, you order from the counter, and the brightly painted chairs and tables coupled with the colourful plates of food make this place oh-​so instagrammable! Even though the food is prepared inside the small kitchen of the truck, there is a great variety of choices for vegetarians/​vegans as well as carnivores!
The food is verrrry tasty and great value as well. I can see this place buzzing in the summer, and I can’t wait to get back!

Honestly one of the greatest breakfast burritos I have ever eaten in my life. I stubbled upon this place while I was roaming around Dublin last march. I didn’t know even know I was a restaurant, I was attracted by the bright mural on the outside of the shop. When I got closer I saw that it was a cool happening dive. The whole place is based out of this garage, all the furniture is made out old crates and is painted in vibrant colors. I loved that fact that they cooked all the food out of a cool vintage van that’s parked on the inside.
I think its hilarious that the women who was taking my order was a red haired Irish women, never thought I’d order Mexican from the girl from Pixar’s «Brave»!
Honestly I wish I lived in Dublin just so I could go to this awesome place every day.

I’m a big fan of Mexican food so my expectations are always high whenever I try somewhere new. Thankfully this little food truck didn’t disappoint.
One of the most original and cool settings I’ve been in and the staff are super friendly.
The menu is slightly small but very tasty. The specials are always worth trying if you’re not sure, or you could always ask one of the helpful staff!

Probably one of the more unusual eateries in Dublin, and channeling the kind of makeshift street food vendors that you’d typically find in London’s trendier burroughs like Dalston or Shoreditch, K Chido has got it all going on, tasty Mexican fare, bright and colourful pallet furniture, funky street art, board games and a copy of the morning paper to boot.
If you don’t live in the vicinity the Breakfast Burrito is worth the trek to this otherwise non-​discript part of town near the abandoned tax office and M Hughes pub, nestled in behind the Four Courts. The place is a casual combo of indoors and outdoors that almost gives it a bit of a festival vibe, with the food dished up from inside a pink and blue vintage truck. Portions aren’t huge but they are enough to fill you up and send you on your way satisfied. Anything involving Chorizo is a must!
Now open until 8pm on weekday evenings but sadly closed at the weekends. I’m working on convincing them to pull up the shutters on Saturdays though and mention it every time I visit, so here’s hoping!

Ok. I loved the place, the atmosphere and my burrito.
As I couldn’t come to the Burrito Blow Out event itself it took a bit before I got into town — during the week and before 3pm…
It was around half 1 when I was there and the place was quiet but not too quiet. So it was very relaxing to sit on their «benches» that were surprisingly comfortable, enjoying my burrito and sneakily watching passers by — soaking in the atmosphere.
The girl that prepared my burrito was very lovely and nicely chatty. Which actually put me at ease as I probably would’ve felt almost awkward at this rather unusual place.
I went for a breakfast burrito despite the time of day — but hey, that’s what they specialise on. As I didn’t feel like chorizo or bacon I was very happy with my mushroom choice. They got grilled while I was waiting — well worth the wait. I loved the combination of sweet (egg) and spicy and the rather odd combination definitely is very good.
The only thing I regret is that I’m hardly ever around that neck of the woods at that time of a working week.

As soon as I took my first bite I knew this was going to be one of those foods I crave on a Saturday morning when I’m in bed with the hangover from hell. .. .and I was right.
It’s not your normal burrito as it is a breakfast burrito I had — bacon, egg, beans, cheese and rice, all encased in a homemade tortilla, and topped off with salsa. Really Really tasty — a little on the small side compared to a normal burritos but I think that is reflected in the price.
Sadly week days it is a little too far away from me but I will be popping by to meeting house square to get my fix on a Saturday

This may be my new northside spot. Hotdamn it’s cute. I don’t think I’ve ever used the word hotdamn here, but hotdamn it why the hell not.
This food truck is based in a garage just behind the Four Courts Mon — Fri, then in Meeting House Square on Saturdays, so you really have no excuse not to try them out.
They cook a variety of authentic Mexican delicousness from tacos to fajitas, quesadillas and of course, the humble burrito. Of the breakfast kind. But only up til 4pm. Still time enough for breakfast for tea though, and who doesn’t like breakfast for tea!
So, down to the burrito. It was lovely. You can get one with bacon, veg, or delicious (guess which one I got!) chorizo. Then there’s egg, beans, cheese and rice, all encased in a homemade tortilla, and topped off with one of their salsas made with chillies brought straight from the old country. My only gripe was the dispersion of ingredients — there was never a perfect bite of everything — it all should be laid out in a horizontal manner so that you can get all that tasty delicousness in each bite. But that could have just been how mine was laid out. This was my only gripe though, which would be minor to some folk.
