Hidden Dublin – Gravediggers Ghost Bus Tour

They told us we should review if we liked it… so I am.
This was a spontaneous decision on our part (my wife’s part, all credit to her). we had a night open on our trip to Dublin and found this to do, which is great since nothing else is really open that late).
It’s sort of hard to describe the tour itself. No, you don’t get to really go INTO too many of the stops. But you get a good history of all the ghost stories surrounding them.
It really is, more or less, a bus ride that is almost like interactive performance theater. The «tour guides» are more like entertainers, taking on characters and acting out parts. I can see the sense of humor not being your thing, but I am a sarcastic asshole and I thought the whole thing was great.
There really isn’t anything too scary to speak of. All scares are jump scares, and clearly just in good fun.
Our group was fairly small, barely filling up the first couple of rows in the bus if you crowded together. I think this enhanced the experience, though.
I couldn’t do it again. I know all the stories and beats after one time. But it’s great to do when visiting Dublin, just to get some of the darker history in a fun, irreverent way.
And yes, the acting is super over-​the-​top. That just adds to the energy and makes it more fun.

Poor tour. It didn’t really know whether it was scary or funny. And in trying to get both, didn’t achieve either. The bus left almost 15 minutes later than it should have done, and as opposed to actually going into the destinations, you just stand outside. No need for the continuous cursing throughout I felt. Overall… no no no.

This tour is truly an experience that cannot be replicated anywhere else. The history and craic of Dublin really come together to create the funniest of nights.
I was a bit worried when I boarded the bus with about 100 sweaty drunk Dublin college students. My only complaint about the tour is that the bus is completely closed-​meaning no windows-​which made me a bit claustrophobic and made for a stuffy environment. But it was so much fun I didn’t care.
This is certainly more of a theatrical experience than historical. The tour guide is dressed up as a plague victim and acts the part the entire time. It is a bit cheesy but so much fun.
There is a lot of cursing, but this tour is certainly not geared towards families with young kids, or people who are easily offended. The stop at the pub for a drink during the tour really sets the tone for a fun, somewhat rowdy night out. For a fun way to learn about Dublin’s history and enjoy some theatrical antics, this tour is the best.

What a brilliant experience… the tour was sooo funny with a very quick and witty guide! He was great, really got into the role and in true Dublin style showed everyone the wit that the Dubs are famous for. This is an Adult only tour and the bus itself is designed brilliantly! The only down side was, that the free drink offered with the tour is only a shot of a «sex on the beach» and not a Vodka that i had hoped for!

SO MUCH CURSING. Maybe I wasn’t prepared for our guide to say the «f» word so much as an American, but dear lord! The actual bus is really cool, but you don’t get to really go into any of the places they talk about, except for the pub. You just kind of walk to the entrance, hear some cursing and see the guide «comically» scratch his balls and walk away. Also the bus has covered windows, so you can’t see any of the places you’re going to. When he pulled back the covering to look outside, we were told to stop «peeking and cheating.» Also, it was still light out, so not really scary. The acting was sort of cheesy and «in-​your-​face.»

Get ready for a scary, funny ride! I expected cheesorama, but the fun and no-​nonsense approach of the tour leaders subtracts the cheese and adds a ton of authentic spooky Dublin craic. Basically, I had such a laugh, and so did every one of my group of about 12 friends. Well except for one friend, she was a crying wreck at the end of it, so let that be a warning to ye of a nervous disposition.
Climb aboard the customised spooky ghost bus and take your seats upstairs. Soon, you will be joined by the zombie corpse of a medieval plague victim, your guide for the evening. The quality of a tour like this usually stands or falls on the quality of the guide, and this is a five star tour. The guide was absolutely mighty; despite the fact he obviously does this tour very regularly, he threw his (rotting) body and soul into entertaining us. The bus itself is also set up with a few surprises. Stories and ghosts abound as we visit graveyards, jails and pubs.
Each of the guides is a gifted communicator, and even little things like when the bus driver was waiting for us to reboard, he would be wearing a skull mask and picking his ‘nose’. This tour is all about detail. I loved it. Most of us had to have a drink afterwards to recover from the adrenalin high. Get on board the Gravediggers Tour Bus… if you dare. Ah go on!
