Harrys Kitchen Restaurant is a family run business specialising in Irish and French inspired Bistro style cooking. The restaurant has become a popular local destination and also welcomes a wide range of overseas visitors enjoying the many and varied tourist attractions and shopping experiences in the area.

Manager

Cian hails from Sligo in the West of Ireland. He has honed his skills while working in many well known restaurants here in Dublin. He is an avid ‘foodie’ and has a special interest in wines from the ‘old World’, Spain, France and Italy. He is a fun guy with a big personality and never fails but to extend a very warm welcome to both regulars and newcomers alike.

Bit of an odd place. We came in to eat and drink and went upstairs which was a dining area with lots of tables and chairs. We ordered two beers and asked for menus. It was then explained to use that we had to first pay for the beers and a different person would take our food order. But then we were later told we could only order food downstairs so we then were reseated downstairs. Food was good. The curry chips appetizer was delicious as was the curry chicken entrée– I would have thought that I was in an Indian restautant. For the men– don’t trust the dispenser machines in the bathroom that has novelty items — it is empty and will eat your money as it did my partners.

Went to Harry’s on New Years Eve. It is a small restaurant and cosy but I was quite cold throughout the night which spoiled it a bit for me. Food was enjoyable but I wasn’t bowled over and found it a little pricey. Would like to return again to give it another go though

Unfair to tarnish the restaurant (the food was grand), but the two waiters on that night were brutal, like two attention-​seeking teenage boys; heightened by the small dimensions of the room and the fact they were old enough to have attention-​seeking teenage boys of their own at home. They seemed to be openly laughing at guests between themselves — in particular a group of tourists (you don’t need to speak the language to know when you are being laughed at), and a couple who were in the process of leaving, having decided not to dine there after all… or ever again I suspect. In Fairness, the burger was fairly tasty though…

The casual atmosphere, relaxed approach and friendly people made me feel like a regular my first time through the door.
Harry’s is the place to go for some good traditional favorites like fish pie, or a nice steak. They also stretch things a bit, typically offering some ingesting flavors in their mashes for example. All in all, a nice variety on the menu with delicious and straightforward recipes. Among my favorites on the starter menu are the fish cakes and beat root and goat cheese salad. I am a fish fan and they always seem to have fresh, well-​prepared set of choices on the menu or on special.
The only limitation is that you need to save some room for dessert. The apple cinnamon crumble and bread and butter pudding are favorites, with a couple of chocolate selections of you choose to go in that direction.
We have been able to get in easily when going early, but it is a good idea to book ahead. The restaurant is not very big and deservedly popular — even during the week.

Quaint and cosy. However, as u walk through the door you are greeted by a cuurtain! Presumably to keep the cold out but it was just a little like stepping into narnia having to sweep past the curtain! Id say it seats 45 – 50 inside at a push and u would be surprised at the good use of space in here. Theres is seating for 10 outside but thats not for this time of year and, really, the buses going down dawson st. i wouldnt eat outside! Its a quaint setting and would be quite nice for a date, i think!
Fish and chips, lemon sole, light flavour, nicely battered with a nice mayo-​based tartare style sauce which had gherkins in, very nice twist. Came with a wedge of lime, which wasnt hugely flaoursome to thhe fish. Shoestring chips, im not mad on they were very deep fried and crispy, lovely for any chip fan i was assume!
The staff were so approachable and friendly, background music not too loud.
I did think it was a bit on the pricey side, especially since they charged me € 1 for a pint of blackcurrant and € 13.95 for fish and chips but it was yum!
Toilets are downstairs, so not wheelchair friendly here at all!

em… I’m not wild about my experience at Harry’s which is really for one reason. We toddled along for an early bird and my friend had sent me the link to the menu before we booked. I saw ‘two courses for 20 euro” and thought it was grand. However this is restricted. The two courses must be a starter and main, which sucks because I’d rather have dessert than a starter. In the end I skipped the starter anyway and just had the burger, which cost 18 euro… and you know it wasn’t the best burger I ever had! it was fine, but not great. Had a dessert, tea and a coke and the whole thing cost over 30 euro… some fecking early bird — when you think that I could have had the same meal in Eddie Rockets for about 16 euro!
OK if you’re into savoury and into fish (there was lots on the menu) then this might be a better place for you than for me. But I wasn’t impressed and don’t think I’d bother returning… especially not when I realised that the far swankier Bleu just a few doors down has a 20 euro two course early bird, which does allow you to have dessert as a course!

Oh Harry you have stolen my heart.
My quest for good interesting salad reached a high point here. Feta cheese, spinach, beetroot and pumpkin seed salad… All very simple ingredients but for some reason Dublin thinks a bunch of leaves, a dribble of oil or the extreme opposite a lashing of creamy dressing equates a good salad. Nope. The cheese was so fresh, the right amount of every ingredient so that I did not feel like a rabbit.
I got the soup too just in case the salad was like most boring empty Dublin salads, at that stage I was pretty full but I struggled on for Unilocal’s sake. Again rich and fresh with wholesome ingredients.
He got the plate of pâté which was amazing and they did not scrimp with portions.
Service was impeccable, lots of sirs and madams… As you may have read before I do like to be called madam when I’m dining, it gives me an illusion of grandeur for a brief moment.
Pricey? I will concede it’s not cheap but they have some very good early bird options such as starter and main € 15. My salad was around € 8.50 and the soup around € 5.
But I was stuffed for the rest of the day in a healthy way if that makes sense?!

Popped in here to see Cian, one of the managers in Harry’ and to have a late lunch with my girlfriend. I had the mixed seafood linguini and she had the scallops on a bed of noodles.
Now I had a bad batch of moules once a few years so I’v been extremely scooby dubious of mussels but Carmel and Cian in Harry’s really delivered. The mussels were lovely and the other fish on my plate including salmon and smoked which I love.
The scollops were seared to perfection, no easy task and the persecco washed it down nicely.
Thanks guys… love it!

I have to admit I used to walk past Harry’s without even noticing the place. But I was hungry and the people having lunch looked happy enough so I ventured inside.
I tried the seafood chowder, mainly because I’ve never had chowder before and I was curious, and it tasted delicious! It came with brown bread, which seemed fresh and complemented the chowder perfectly. It was just under 11 Euro which isn’t too bad considering the quality of the food, but I think next time I’ll come here for dinner and try the value offer– 2 courses for 18 Euro including wine!

Harry’s Café is one of my top places to recommend if anyone’s ever looking for a casual but nice meal, for a work dinner or bringing your parents out, a first date or dinner before a show. It ticks all of my boxes.
I like the feel of the funky restaurant and the décor inside. And of course the food is great. They also do an early bird menu that I think is about € 25 for three courses. I love mussels so can’t say no to that (you can have them for a starter or main course) and their steak is great, the clincher is the spring onion mash. Mmmm. They also have lovely skinny chips too. Pop in for a quick bite or sit on for hours, Harry’s is a winner!

I’ve been here for dinner a few times and it’s a lovely place to eat.
Last time I went I had the lamb shank, which came served on a bed of mash with veg and it was delicious. The meet was so juicy and tender, and just fell off the bone. I was a little bit bold and had some cheesecake for dessert too, which was just as good!
The interior is lovely and cosy and the atmosphere is really warm. The service was fast and friendly and the prices were pretty reasonable.
