Attended a family celebration in the function room upstairs. Looks like it was once a Liquid nightclub that went out of business as the name is still on the windows. The staff were gruff and surly. Choice of alcohol wasn’t that great. Final nail in the coffin is that the management didn’t fulfil their contract for the night for the celebration I attended. Don’t recommend this place to anyone. Despite the issues my family still ensured they had a good time.

I haven’t stepped foot in this gorgeous pub since 1996. I was visiting a good friend who lived just down on North Circular Road. He brought me in for my first«proper» pint of Guinness. At that point in my life, I had been working in pubs and nightclubs for about six years in Montréal. I’d pulled a good few pints, tasted a good few and thought I knew my stout, but I had been told repeatedly, «You don’t know Guinness until you have one in Dublin.» My first sip of that gorgeous cream changed everything I thought I knew — full circle! I understood and I was thankful. I was also thankful that I experienced this in such a wonderful and inviting place. We watched Hurling on the televisions, as my friend tried to teach me the rules. We drank pint after pint, rings upon rings of creamy goodness encircled the empties on our table. That pub, Hanlon’s corner and that time in my life will forever remain as vivid as that for taste of Guinness in Dublin!

How could I not give this great place 5 stars! It has everything you are looking for in one corner. It is definitely a locals spot with just about everything you can think of. There is Hanlon’s Bar, Hanlons Carvery, Hanlons Pizzeria and Hanlons Nightclub. The staff are very friendly and always willing to help you out if you are not familiar with the area. The only downside I found was that it is no longer owned by the Hanlons and you can’t find the Hanlon Coat of Arms anywhere in the building. I will definitely be back on my next visit.

They do great pints here at one of the cheapest prices in the city. Around a year ago they closed for a few months to refurbish and they have done a great job of it, it’s beautiful inside. The exterior too is very impressive. I have not had the courage to venture in here on a late night when the disco is in full swing, that’s not really my cup of tea and at this stage of my life I know what makes me happy. A pint in comfortable surroundings downstairs or a pint to the booming tunes of top twenty hits surrounding by guys all wearing the same shirt. No contest.
