Grand Canal Square

A great Place to hang out when the weather is your friend. There are some really great places to go for eating and coffee. The best is probably having Brunch here with some friends (e.g. 3FE or Herbstreet). When it is sunny a lot of people, families and dogs will be around. You can also grab a book and read next to the water while people pass you. Last but not least it frequently have events on and also showcase watersports in the docks.

There are many restaurants and coffee shop around the area. My favourite place is Il Valentino. Also walk along the canal or rent a bike.

Beautiful modern area of Dublin with beautiful architecture and looks amazing at night. It is right on the grand canal basin, across from the theatre. The beautiful theatre building has elements of the architecture strewn across the courtyard commingling with bike paths and surrounded by a few restaurants and cafes as well. The marker hotel is also located at the end if the square. The square also has these red, color changing, lit up posts at different angles which extend out onto the dock and gives the place a constant sense of energy.

I live around here and love it. On the weekends its buzzing with people. Great cafes and a bit of Dublin history all in one place. Just wish the city council would clean up the rubbish from the canal and also fine people who don’t pick up after their dogs. What is with that?

I spent a very pleasant eve on a barge moored opposite the theatre on Grand Canal Square last eve.
While doing all the things you would expect on a floating bar (the owner keeping a very well stocked boat!) I looked out and saw what can only be described as a perfect vista, it made me very proud to be an adopted Dubliner. The Theatre looks great, the streets are sparkling clean, the shops and restaurants bright and immaculate — everything from Spar to Ely wine bar looked bright and inviting.
I loved the glo-​sticks /​red lights/​what ever they are called. The whole place looks fantastic at night.
Definitely worth a visit, particularly on a hot summers eve when you have no work in the morning!
