Always friendly and sells the sort of clothes I like. Can be a bit pricey for whats generally casual wear, but they are very well made. Worth a visit if you like hoodys, big jumpers or baggy comfy trousers for knocking about the house in.

I do like Fat Face clothes a lot. The stuff is well made and most of the time not too overly priced. And when there’s a sale, the stuff can be very reasonably priced indeed. I do find the selection in this particular store very limited though, compared to the Fat Face in Dundrum, they had a vastly a lot less of the range. They have an upstairs here too on Exchequer Street that they used to use, but not any more. Less space = less range. . On two recent visits here, I bought five items and then returned two of them that I realised didn’t quite suit me. They handled the returns with no problems. Of the three items I did keep, I absolutely love the jeans the most. They look great, feel good on and at 53EUR, very well priced. The staff were very helpful, friendly and polite. But this is Fat Face, they always are. They seems to pay a great deal of attention to staff training.

North face, South face… Fat face. This store is full to the brim with chic outdoor gear for the exploratory kind. The clothes do lack the durability of a brand as renowned as North face, but then again they aren’t striving to attain that same level of hardcore sustainability. Where the brave explorers who climb to the top of Kilimanjaro adorn North Face, Fat Face is worn by the younger, less experienced budding adventurers who deem hunting down the perfect wave or donning thick socks and walking to the top of a tough foothill as ‘exploration’ at this adolescent point in their lives. The padded and cord jackets, pleated tees, printed tunics for hotter climates, bobbled knits, hoodies, gilets and riding boots to name a few still radiate the same ‘go breathe it in/catch the first sight as it hits the slopes’ mentality but the activities to which they are created to tackle are certainly less challenging. The store gives the up-and-coming outdoor adventurer who wants to shed their ‘9 to 5′ skin a nice, subtle haul up into this world at the same time as emphasizing cool patterns and tasteful styles. When you are at this age I think this offers a perfect correlation. Hunt down the perfect wave… ride it, then drink it — all the while looking hip in intentionally cool attire. This kit is for those who love to get out there, stuff that’s built to withstand the demands of an active lifestyle as opposed to the extreme task of getting to the top of Everest that is left up to, by Fat Face’s own admission, other, more substantial brands. They never claim that this stuff is going to help you withstand the elements whilst you’re rising to the world’s uppermost summit. So, whether you’re into extreme sports or just enjoy getting out amongst it, Fat Face will cheerfully help you along the way at the same time as ensuring you look dapper throughout it all.

Fat Face does some good things. They make surf and ski-inspired clothes that are trendy but not so much that they’ll be «out» by next week. They use natural materials, mostly cotton and wool, and the garments are high quality and long-lasting. They try to create a fun and warm vibe in the store and they succeed very much in doing so. But, personally, I find the clothes a bit generic. Fat Face reminds me very much of a couple stores in the States by the name of Abercrombie and Fitch and American Eagle. These stores do pretty much the exact same look that Fat Face does and it is loved by millions of American teenagers around the country. I guess here in Ireland, the look is a lot less trendy, but to me it chafes a bit. Still, I think the product is good, though it is pretty expensive, especially for apparel aimed at a young crowd.

Fat Face looks like summer. It’s full of funky t-shirts, flip flops, floaty skirts and colourful clothes. Their clothes are all well made, nice and soft and good cotton. They do lovely bikinis and great bright prints. They also have nice bags, accessories, hats and everything you need to complete a summer outfit. They do ok in winter too with nice cardigans and chunky knits.

This UK chain, which only seems to have one Irish shop, was set up by two ski bum’s a couple of years ago, they’d ran out of money and started selling their stuff. The type of clothes that fat face sell reflects this and its mostly of a funky ski, beach bum variety. Think; Next meets quicksilver. The mens section, upstairs is pretty small but does a good range of shorts, t-shirts, shoes, sun glasses and the like. Will be paying them a visit next week to stock up for going on holiday soon.
