I went to this place years ago, but I wouldn’t go back. Totally over priced. € 50 for a men’s cut! I only went because I wanted to experiment with a new style and I had heard this place was known for being trendy and innovative. I quickly learnt that«trendy and innovative» meant tacky gold sprayed picture frames and lacy ‘boudoir’ pink wallpaper. It was incredibly busy when I arrived for my appointment, and I was put on a stool for 20 minutes before being led over to the sink. Spent another 15 minutes waiting with wet hair before my stylist came near me. 10 minutes into my cut she started running backwards and forwards between me and another customer! Clearly overbooked and understaffed. After nearly two hours of farcical treatment, my hair ended up looking as though I’d cut it myself with a pair of garden shears. I had a huge tiff with the receptionist, who was an absolute cow, and I refused to pay the full amount and told them I wouldn’t be back. Outrageous!

Cowboys and Angels is a very hip hair salon on trendy South William Street. The theme of the salon is pink and boudoir-esque — think printed pink wallpaper, gold-guilt mirrors, huge chandeliers and some leopard print thrown in for good measure. They specialise in hair extensions and wig maintenance, though I used to go here for the experienced stylists, who are very good at giving funky, innovative haircuts. I brought a picture from a magazine of the cut I wanted, and they did a pretty good job of replicating it. The reason I no longer go here is the prices — with a cut STARTING at € 70(you can pay up to € 90 for a more experienced stylist, and the sky’s the limit if you want highlights or hair extensions or whatever) I just can’t justify spending that much money in this day and age. And they insist that you should be coming back to fork out that kind of money every 6 weeks! No way.

It’s expensive but the stylists are lovely(and talented), the surroundings are hip and the results are fabulous! Makes a change from chain hairdressers as it has a real boutique feel to it. Especially recommended for those who find visiting the hairdressers an unsettling experience!
