We welcome happy-​snapper and professional photographer alike and offer an excellent back-​up service to all items we sell, including the facility to provide loan equipment. We also offer hire, try-​before-​you-​buy and trade-​in services and have an on-​site sensor cleaning service for both dry– and wet-​dust removal.

As well as a full range of compact and SLR cameras to suit every level we also stock a wide range of binoculars, telescopes, studio equipment and camera accessories, including a range of second hand items.

The Conns Photolab offers a high quality and cost effective range of services including developing, printing and scanning for film, digital or print reproduction. With top-​of-​the range machinery from Fuji and Epson we can cover all your needs from postcard size prints in the hour up to 40″ canvases stretched onto custom-​made wooden frames. For convenience images can be sent to the lab electronically and then either posted out or collected from our city-​centre location.

History

Established in 1968.

This family business was founded by Phil Conn and traded for over thirty years from a small shop in the Grafton Arcade. In 2003 they moved to a new purpose built premisses only a few hundred yards away on Clarendon Street and the shop is now run by Phil’s sons Mike and Bob.

Upgrading my review to five stars.
I went in for a few things: a UV protective filter, a lens cable and a new lens cap. I bet the old one will turn up, now I’ve bought a replacement. Incidentally the replacement is second hand but they only charge me 5 EUR and its actually better than the cap that came with the camera.
Again the customer service was helpful and not pushy.
Highly recommend Conn’s.

Great experience at Conns during my trip to Dublin. My DSLR had been giving me a lot of trouble, wasn’t focusing and often couldn’t depress the shutter, and I was really anxious to have it functional as I planned on shooting quite a bit. Everyone at Conn’s was incredibly friendly and eager to help diagnose my problem (especially nice because I was there for diagnosis, not necessarily to buy anything). The first person to look at it was a bit younger and couldn’t offer much help, but when they called for one of the more expert camera guys he immediately diagnosed the problem. They let me try multiple lenses on the camera and try my lens on other bodies until we had it all sorted it out.
Even though I didn’t purchase anything (EU prices are fairly high for electronics compared to what I could buy in US), everyone was as friendly and helpful as if I had bought a new camera. Highly recommend.

I have used (and recommended to many!) Cons Cameras for many years buying new and used camera equipment from them. Their customer service is consistently professional, friendly and very efficient and their prices highly competitive. Cons a bustling little shop full of interesting and useful camera products — they also have a great camera repair service which has gotten me out of trouble a few times too!

Conns Camera is a must stop for the photo amateur and also for the professional one. They have a full range of cameras for all the pockets and performances as well as wide range of accessories such as filters, lights, paper backdrops, etc. Basically everything.
Years ago I bought there a semi-​professional Nikon camera and the shop assistant let me try it in the shop and he didn’t push for the sale.
We agreed about the pros and con’s about that camera and I got also some extra insights I didn’t know.
I felt very well looked after as customer, so when I have a chance to go in town I usually go there to see if there is any deal I might be interested.
What I like the most is also a wide range of used lenses and cameras, all well inspected and tested before put on sale.
Another benefit is the free of charge sensor cleaning service for the life of the camera, when you purchase a camera from them. So another advantage.

Looking for a passport photo? Highly reccomend. They’ll google the specifications for the country you need and hand it over in any format. My first photo was rejected by the crappy online passport system so they re-​took the photo for free and even emailed in exactly the right format for the upload so I didnt have to drop in again. Now thats the extra mile customer service that makes you smile!

Dropped in a month ago or so. Basic service for two Nikon digital SLR cameras, one of them obtained second hand with obvious soft-​foreign-​objects just in front of the viewfinder. The staff were professional and even advised against taking the trouble after inspecting them, but I insisted. They let me know it was against their better judgment but were polite about my preferences.
Both units were back in my hands in just a few days, and the second-​hand one with the shmutz in the optics path was clean as could be. So all-​in-​all efficient and professional service even for a stubborn customer like me.

A nice, little but well stocked camera shop in the heart of Dublin’s city centre. The staff are helpful and friendly but a little too geared towards selling you something, even if you don’t need it. On the odd occasion I’ve caught the staff member out when asking about an item. I’ve always been happy enough with any photographs I’ve had printed here, but my college lecturer has mentioned their prints are of a lower quality to other photography shops in Dublin. A little pricey but second only to the magnificent John Gunn Camera Shop on Wexford Street.

Given that I am the son of a photographer I really should know more about cameras, but my knowledge is sparse and if it were not for the auto setting on my Nikon DSLR I’d never get a decent picture out of it at all.
So going into Conns is a bit of an education, an occasion, a treat and indeed an experience. .
Firstly it is worth noting the shop is about the size of a postage stamp and has about 14 staff (and I’m not exaggerating), you get the personal touch, you get learned instruction and valid advice. They won’t sell you a camera you don’t need, they sell you the camera that best suites you.
Also worth noting, they take trade ins and have a small selection of 2nd hand stuff which is priced to go, I got a very nice lens for my Nikon and it didn’t break the bank… had I bought it new, it would have!

They always have what I need. And they remember me by face! :) Their customer service is second to none. True, sometime you have to wait, the queues can be quite long.
I am a film photography convert and so I have lots of film rolls to develop and scan. Conns has a reasonable variety of negative 120 films for my medium format camera, and they offer 1-​hour dev&scan service for all c-​41 films. I could use a price drop in this area though, € 15 quid per roll is a bit expensive in my view…

I think this shop is one of the best shops in Dublin. Very helpful and friendly. I’m tired of shops where I actually know more than the staff, I found they really knew their stuff and could point me in the right direction. The prices are fair. I bought a gopro and had a few issues updating the firmware they totally helped me out no problem. This is now my go to shop for all my camera needs.

The lads in Conns are partly responsible for getting me so interested in photography. They’ve a great passion for cameras and know absolutely everything there is to know about every product they carry, and more. It’s also a handy place to check out for second hand pieces.
One thing that does bug me is that there’s no orderly queueing system and this drives me insane. When the shop is busy (which is most of the time) it can be tough to nab one of the sales guys before somebody gets in before you. I usually visit early morning on a weekday to beat this!
They’re a little more expensive than other stores or buying online but they offer good warranties and after-​sales service, if needed.

I found out about this little place through a photographer as I was interested in buying a good camera. Conns to a great deal of new and trade in cameras ranging from the little and cheaper ones all the way up the professional ladder, along with all the accessories to go with them!
All the guys who work there (and from what I saw on my couple of visits there it is all BOYS) not a woman in site, know what whey are talking about and are incredibly helpful and knowledgable. I just made my biggest purchase of my life, and bought a camera I had been dreaming of for many years and was sooooo lucky to find one second hand here.
When I went to pick up my camera last week I was very well looked after, these guys treat you as a customer but also know that you are the one that is supporting their business and in turn offer fantastic customer service, advice and aftercare service.
The shop is packed with photographers every time I go in and its great to see that fabulous customer service mixed with great products is still a winner. I will certainly be back as soon as I have more money to spend on lenses and would highly recommend this place to anyone in the field of photography whether amateur or professional, whether you are purchasing or just seeking advice.

An update on this. The store got in touch with me privately, asked for details of the incident, apologised and addressed it with their staff as well as trying to make amends with me directly.
Although it shouldn’t have come to this, better late than never and a good example of turning a bad experience into a good one. What impressed me most was the fact that a customer who was spending relatively little was followed up on and the issue was given the weight it deserved. The power of the internet? Maybe, but I would like to believe that it would have also been done had I complained over the phone.

I’m a wee bit surprised at the various negative reviews of Conns. I’ve been shopping with them for years and always was welcomed by the staff who are uberknowledgable but in no way condescending. What you must bear in mind is that this is one of the busiest camera shops in Dublin and as is obvious by their display they can deal with the pros. So it makes sense then that they really can’t take the time to explain the minutiae of camera operations to every Saturday shopper. If you need film processed save yourself the journey and pop it into your local Boots. If you’re looking for that special camera and expert advice about components then Conn’s your man

If I could give a zero star rating I would! Not only are the staff rude to customers, but rude to each other as well. I have heard staff talking about customers in a negative way after they have left the store, loud enough for every other customer to hear which I think shows a serious lack of respect.
Never helpful to anyone who doesn’t know anything about cameras, I often see people fobbed off and if the staff do decide to help they usually talk down to the customer. Even when you do know what you’re talking about, if you’re not over the age of 30 and a full time professional, in my opinion they don’t want to hear from you.
I rented a lens there recently, I came in on Friday to make sure I got the correct lens for the following Monday as it was impossible to find someone competent enough to do this over the phone.
Arrived in on Monday to find the lens had gone missing, which I couldn’t believe! I think this store seriously needs to brush up on its idea of customer service.

I would consider this shop as one of the few shops in Dublin where both pros and amateurs find something to suit them. They offer a large selection of services from regular printing to outsourced specialised film development and their selection of products is pretty good considering the size of the shop, along with a decent 2nd hand section. I’m not crazy about Conns though, I find them pricey and their opinion is biased, not really based on what a customer need but on what they have and where they get the best margin or whatever else it is, I was surprised by that a few times. I guess that’s just a personal taste.

Don’t be put off by the showy displays and ritzy graphics at Conn’s Cameras. I often think this gives the impression that they are charlatans, as is often the case with camera related services, but they’re not.
Conn’s provide services that are really hard to find nowadays. They can develop any type of film you care to bring them, including that bizarre 120 format film in that hip plastic Diana you got at Urban Outfitters.
As well as stocking all the new cameras, they have a good selection of second hand wares and will rent camera and video equipment (including sound gear) at rates no more extortionate than anywhere else. There website is kept up-​to-​date with all the prices, stock and rental rates, which is rare and very handy during camera related research.
I think this is (borderline) my favourite camera shop, I would also check Gunn’s and the Camera Exchange on Camden Street to see if they have any deals before splurging.

Back when I started college my entire photography class was marched up to Conn’s in order to get ourselves kitted with some cheapo second hand cameras. The guys there were really friendly and definitely know their stuff. We got pretty good deals, and they valued my repeat business.
I did have a bad experience, in that I was given the wrong film once, which took 12 days to process. And my photography assignment was due in four. I didn’t find out til after my photos were taken. Melt.
