Carroll’s Irish Gifts

Need souvenirs before you fly out of Ireland? This is the place to go. They have almost everything you can think of. Very nice selection. Not too many aran sweaters for sale but definitely a great place to get all of our souvenirs.

Soyons clair dès le début c’est ZE truc a touriste si t’es un hipster ou si tu veux que ton voyage soit «authentique» ce n’est pas la peine… Cela dit tu peux quand même trouver le fameux pull irlandais a grosse mailles (tu sais celui qui coûte chère…) mais sinon il y en a pour tout les goûts de la capote «Lucky man» au fameux chapeau de leprechun, des ballons de rugby, des sweet shirt parfait pour les ados, des verres à bière en cristal… Enfin c’est le caverne d’ali baba version irish :)

This is one of the top shops to shop at in Ireland. At least in Dublin. They advertise it everywhere. They advertise Tax Free as well. But, that is not all that easy. We will come back to that in a moment though.
It is a great store and I actually visited a few of them around the large city of Dublin.
i am a sucker for spending $$ when it comes to shopping.
When you walk in to this store, they have 2 floors and so much to choose from.
You could find something for everyone on your list here.
Just proving how many visitors come into Dublin. Tourism I think is one of the biggest industries here. As well as the Guinness Production.
They have the usual cheap tourist stuff, but they have a lot of really high end nice items as well. No Waterford Crystal or anything like that, but lots of other things such as some lovely knitted garments, made out of Irish Merino Sheep.
I bought a sweater and wore it instead of my coat, as it was warmer than my coat.
Lots and lots to choose from. You will enjoy this shop, most certainly.
The whole thing with the Tax Free Business, well you have to buy everything. Then you have to go to the airport and fill everything out and mail it in along with your credit card info.
I decided not to do it. I would no longer have my original receipts plus I was taking a lot of time to do it as well.
I just did not have to time nor the inclination to do it all. I just hope that the 23% tax that I paid on everything will go towards helping all the peopole of Ireland. So I am passing it on.

Wenn man die Ambition hat aus einer Stadt für die ach so armen daheim gebliebenen etwas mitzubringen, eignet sich diese Kette (mehrere Filialen in Dublin) wirklich ganz hervorragend! Von billigsten Nippes über kleine Aufmerksamkeiten bis hin zu teuren Mitbringsel oder gar Erinnerungsstücken ist hier alles dabei, was einen an Dublin respektive Ireland erinnert. Wirklich herausragend und somit bisher in keiner anderen Stadt gesehen: der Shop verfügt, ich kann es nur wiederholen, auch durchaus über sinnvolle und schöné Artikel, die nicht wirken als (A) würde man die überall an jeder Ecke bekommen und (B) würden diese aus China stammen. Letztlich ist man hier genau richtig, wenn es noch eben schnell gehen muss. Habe mir bspw. 6 Runen-​besetzte kleine Metallbecher als Espressotassen fürs Büro geholt, die qualitativ echt was hermachen. Empfehlung!

My Opinion/​Story:
Lots to choose from. Place is a little tight but they have two floors. Wish I went to the one closer to the bus station so I didn’t have to haul two heavy bags of chocolates and souvenirs.

Sometimes, visitors to Ireland don’t want to just bring back some beautiful crystal or linen, or even a hand woven basket created by a blind nun who has dedicated her life to both Jesus and wicker. Enter Carrolls of Dublin, which is filled with Irish tat like leprechaun hats, Guinness magnets and amusing postcards of cattle on a rural road with the faintly insulting words «Irish traffic jam» beneath them.
In fairness to Carrolls, it does have some quite nice t-​shirts. They might look a little over-​enthusiasticfor all things Irish if you wear them on the streets of Dublin, they will be fine once you get them home. I particularly like the «FCEK — Irish Connection» one.

Oh Carrolls home of eyedildy, dyedildy music and all things leprechaun. Much as I pity the people who have to work there and listen to that all day it is really the best place to get Oirishy tat to give to people when going abroad or to give to foreigners arriving… although it is a mark against them that they’re probably responsible for all those hen and stag parties wandering around the city wearing those leprechaun hat/​beard combos!
As well as many many kinds of leprechaun they have some T-​shirts and other clothing items with amusing Irish themed picture and slogans… I’ve seen CDs and musical instruments there too. However an actual irish person can only spend 8 minutes or less in this shop without going out of their mind!

You will find a few of these gift shops in Dublin city centre and its made pretty clear its aimed at the tourist types. This particular store is huge and if you walk past it all you can see is green, everything in it seems to be green. They have a massive range of stuff, mainly souvenirs that tourists can take home to remember their visit. The prices are really expensive, and because a pencil has a shamrock on it and the word Ireland the price goes up by about 50%. They have a nice range of Guinness stuff here too, nice t-​shirts and things like tankards/​beer mats all that kind of stuff.

Carroll’s Irish Gifts have many Irish themed and cultral gifts at good prices and often have great deals. Many of the gifts are easy to post and to transport. Also, hint, the security people at the doors are very good at giving directions and are extremely helpful!
