Had breakfast at their pop-​up Cracked. Loved the breakfast and the prices were very good. Nice casual spot that I will def visit again.

I went yesterday with a friend for lunch and was really happy with the experience.
I ordered the kimchi fries and pulled pork croquettes. The kimchi fries were to die for and such a big portion! The croquettes were a little disappointing but that may have been because I was eyeing up my friends bao steamed bun, which looked amazing. I had serious food envy watching her tucking in.
It was very quiet for lunch, the service was quick and very friendly. All of the staff were so pleasant to speak to. The décor was cool and kind of industrial space vibes.

Disappointed to say the least, but willing to try again.

Obsessed with steamed buns so was so excited to see they were in Dublin. However after getting the duck bao I was sooooo disappointed with the lack of flavour from the duck and the hoisin and the pickle didn’t even taste pickley. Maybe I should of picked something else. My pal got the chicken katsu bao and loved it and she also had the pulled pork croquettes which were very tasty.
With something like duck and hoisin sauce I feel there is no excuse to be lacking taste with two strong flavours. Maybe next time…

Have eaten here twice, on both occasions the food has been fantastic. The bao are the best I’ve had in Dublin, so soft and fresh and mouth-​wateringly good! The duck and steak ones are amazing, so SO good! But unfortunately on my second visit here, the experience was let down by two things — a crazy-​slow wait times for the food and lackadaisical service. You eat in a hipster joint and you can expect one of two serving experiences I’ve found — either a really cheerful, enthusiastic server with a relaxed, casual approach who manages to remain professional or a really nonchalant, «couldn’t be really bothered but I guess I’ll have to serve you cuz it’s like my actual job» kind of approach. Unfortunately, on my my last visit the service fell into the latter category and so I have to give a three star review. The food alone would easily merit a solid 4 but I’m basing this on the dining experience which left a lot to be desired.
After waiting the guts of half an hour for our food, (this was after waiting about ten minutes to actually place our order) we were given the toppings for our bao without the actual buns! There was no explanation or apology offered at any point during this despite the place being pretty quiet. We were all practically salivating at this point and having to wait another 5 minutes for the buns to arrive so we could dig in was pretty torturous to be fair! I will eat here again but the dodgy service and long wait-​time will make me think twice if I’m being honest!

The service is really lovely and friendly here — the food is OK. I had the ramen which was nice. My friend had a curry, which was only Ok. It’s a big over priced for what is essentially a nicely dressed up fast food joint. Had the roll things they do, can’t remember what they called. They were not great. The bread is cheap white bread, the fillings were sparse — it was dry and there was nothing on the side. It’s a nice, friendly place but I wouldn’t rush back for the food/​price combination. The staff are what make the place.

We went for brunch and was looking forward to a big treat after a race.
Now the food was good. Very tasty.
However, I am sick of getting food served that’s not on a plate.
I ordered the big breakfast. I expect it served on a plate. Not a wooden log that makes the whole experience nearly stressful. It’s a joke. A fry up on a narrow wooden log!

Have been here twice in the last week — that says it all really!
Really lovely friendly staff, great house wine (if a tad on the pricey side at € 24) and awesome food.
On the first visit, using a living social voucher, € 50 worth of food/​drink for € 24 — epic deal! We shared wings (these were not my favourite wings ever but they were tasty), prawn tempura, which came out heads on and frightened poor Aoife but the bodies had been skinned under the batter and they were very easy to decapitate and stop giving us the sad faces.
These were accompanied with kimchi fries — my new favourite food, spicy kimchi piled on crispy skin on chips and loads of creamy garlic sauce. All of the yes.
We both had mains too, this was perhaps slightly too much food but we gave it a good attempt! Tofu for herself and melt in the mouth confit duck leg, accompanied with steamed buns, pickled cabbage, hoisin dip and sliced cucumber and lettuce.
The dessert was yummy — a steam bun deep fried and coated In sugar, with ice cream and toffee sauce but we couldn’t finish it.
I went back no more than 5 days later with another pal, same great deal voucher. I tried the pulled pork and corn croquettes. Amazingly tasty. Duck again and the brownie dessert.
.god. Crispy on the outside and oozy gooeyness in the middle. Now that is how a brownie is done folks.
Highly recommended AND I just found out that the deliveroo service collect from here. Croquettes for my dinner tonight!

Highly impressed. I came in with a friend and a voucher on Saturday evening for a pre gig meal and thoroughly enjoyed our food.
We started with a mix of things, prawn tempura, wings and the kimchi fries, which were my highlight, skin on chips with a generous topping of kimchi and garlic sauce, I wasn’t sure it would work but it did, very well.
For main I got the tofu bao while my friend went for the duck. The tofu was breaded and fried but did somewhat lack flavour, but once in the soft, slightly sweet steamed bun with a load of veggies and the soy that my dish came with it all came together nicely and was very very filling. We decided on a desert of fried bao with toffee ice cream and a caramel sauce which was delicious, but we were so full from the savoury we barely managed half between us.
This is one of those places where you can really relax and sharing and swopping with the dishes is encouraged. Our waitress was utterly charming and the house white she suggested worked perfectly with our food choices, and I will most certainly be back, possibly of a Wednesday, when all wine is half price!

Really enjoyed a night in Bread & Bones last Wednesday. I had a delicious big bowl of mussels along with a side portion of steamed buns to soak up the white wine & garlic sauce. As I wasn’t overly hungry all I ordered was the starter portion of mussels which turned out to be a very generous portion & extremely reasonable in price.
Little did we know on arrival that Wednesday nights are 50% off bottles of wine so a bottle of house red for € 12 topped things off nicely.
I’ll definitely be back to try more from the menu & enjoy the vibe & tunes.

Place has a hipster vibe, the staff are nice and chatty, unfortunately they were out of all bao buns by the time we got there just after lunch, which left us with little to chose from. What we got was good but a little pricey. The bill had a 10% service charge applied for a table of 2, which I found a little cheeky.
We actually ended up getting delivery via deliveroo service and this time tried the bao. The bao came with a reasonable amount of meat but only 2 buns, again quite pricey for what you get.
A lot of their stuff comes covered in Cilantro, probably best to check with them before ordering if you’re allergic.

Great little Asian fusion spot with wonderful beer and wine selection. Staff was great, prices were on point, great place to stop in for a bit to eat and a drink.

Loved this place from the get go. It’s got a great look and the service was beaming and helpful as soon as we poked our heads in through the door.
While going over the menu, I decided to look at a few Unilocal reviews for inspiration. The last 5 star review sounded like what I wanted so I went like for like and had the kimchi fries and the bao with confit duck which was accompanied by pickled beetroot and plum sauce.
I enjoyed the kimchi fries although I probably wouldn’t order them again but the bao was simply amazing. The steamed bun was so soft, plump and tasty and the duck was the best I’ve had in years. Will be hard not to get this again when I’m back this way!

Sometimes you see a restaurant and you think ‘that is SO me’ and this is exactly what I thought the first time I passed Bread & Bones, making a mental note to return as soon as possible to try it out.
I’m a big fan of noodley broths, a big fan of asian cuisine & a big fan of restaurants that are too cool to have backrests on their benches. So it’s really only the latter of those three that I felt this place delivered on. The staff & interior were super laid back & cool, in fact I immediately felt a little too uncool for the place upon entering the doors. A good thing IMO because if I think I’m cooler than a restaurant I’m standing in then there’s something VERY amiss.
I ordered the seafood broth and the presentation was spot on (note to restaurant owners, half a boiled egg on any dish brings it up a point). It’s when I stopped instagramming my visual marvel and actually started eating the dish that averageness set in. The large deshelling process made me feel like I had taken up a job in the local fish-​mongers & the noodles and broth were distinctly lacking in any serious flavour.
I’ll return to this place to try out another dish soon to get a better picture, but for now, it’s a style over substance case and you gotta have that substance.

Cute little place in the heart of Dublin. We were looking for a place to sit outside on one of the rare warm-​ish evenings you get in what passes for summer in Dublin and Bread and Bones does have a few tables on the pavement. It looks lovely inside with a sort of industrial chic feel to it — the Brazilian live music that you can see and hear through the glass windows was a nice bonus. There’s no licence for alcohol without food so we added some fries to our order, which could have been better. Service was friendly though and I’d be curious to try some of the Asian fusion food on offer next time.

This place was just ok. I have had much better banh-​mi. There used to be this amazing place on Bolton Street called the Urban Lunchbox which has sadly closed down recently.
I got the pork banh-​mi in Bread and Bones. It was very dry and seemed to have very little sauce. They provided bottles of siracha chilli sauce on the tables which helped moisten it up a little but it was still very much a «meh» quality sandwich. I also got the onion kaki-​age which was also very «meh». It came as a giant portion fried onions. They were supposed to be tempura but most of the batter had melted off in the oil.
Otherwise the service was good; fast and friendly. The place is nice; situated where the Buddha bag shop used to be. The window seats are an excellent spot for people watching.
I will probably go back to try the Bao but so far my hopes are not too high.

I loved this Korean-​Japanese restaurant. I was there for lunch break and had a beef baguette and it was full of flavor (I love Asian cuisine). Different from the ordinary. The staff also made all the difference, they were super friendly and the place has this good vibe and I think the décor helps a lot, however the best part is the food.

The place is great and I love this kind of design so I was pretty exited about trying this place. The service was nice and the price are average so that was great.
We first took a salmon tartare, which was great but a bit too spicy. Then I had the mushroom and tofu soup and my mom took the porc soup. Mine was ok, but nothing more. It was definitely missing of salt or something, the taste was nearly all about the mushroom which was a bit sickening. The tofu was nice, it was the first time I had fried tofu and that was a good experience.
I’ve tasted the porc broth and I didn’t like the taste of this one either, it was a bit tasteless too and waaay to fat. I could have add a bit soy sauce to my broth to make it more tasty, but soy sauce being not gluten free, this wasn’t an option for me unfortunately.
So it’s really too bad because I like the place, and I was glad nearly everything can be made gluten free, but unfortunately I really didn’t like what I tried so I don’t think I’ll go back there.

I ate here when it first open. Had the pork broth noodles, kimchi fries and the chicken bun. It was a very big disappointment that the pork broth had little to no taste at all that I had to add a lot of soy sauce to even make it taste like something. The kimchi fries were just average. Literally adding kimchi on top of the fries. Chicken pork bun was okay. Overall, I felt the food was not up to standard at all and that it is ridiculously expensive for both the quality and quantity. I don’t think I’ll be back here again.

Great new Dublin find! Central and quick, this Korean-​Japanese inspired spot is brimming with good staff, great food, and a vibe that can’t be beat.
Try the kimchi fries, definitely try the bao, and don’t be afraid to split different dishes among friends!

Great new restaurant with friendly staff. Ramens, Bao, lots of Asian dishes with a contemporary twist. Décor is clean and laid back with prints and stencils on the wall.
Try the chicken wings or Salmon Tarte starters.
Their ‘Bones’ ramen beef or chicken is everything you could possibly want in one bowl.
