Ariel House

I stayed in Ariel House from approximately September 23^rd, checking out October 8^th. From the minute my husband and I stepped into the main Reception area we were treated with the utmost courtesy. Our room wasn’t ready but we could leave our luggage and when we got back at noon it was already in our room.
Our room was very quiet all the time we were there, no barking dogs outside, nor any TV or loud noise from the rooms of other guests.
The bed was great — so comfortable. The room was very clean and serviced daily. We had no trouble at all with the hot water tap. Perfect. The only negative — the bathroom does not have shelves.
The breakfasts were delicious and the entire «wait» staff there was so gracious and accommodating. They always made us feel welcome. Nothing was too much trouble for any one of them.
The manager, Deirdre, is a delight. Cecelia is wonderful and was helpful to me especially when she knew of a great place I could get my hair done for my niece’s wedding.
When we were leaving for California and had to be up at the crack of dawn to go to the airport, they made sure we had a breakfast before we left even though the breakfast room was not officially open.
The staff there are friendly and helpful ²⁴⁄₇. It’s a warm and inviting bed and breakfast. because of the people who run it. It’s close to shops and to The DART. A taxi ride into the City is about ten euros depending on the taxi driver, but mostly it’s that. The DART is less than 2.50 euros one way. It’s very fast, and lets you out at Pearse Street not far from Grafton Street.
We felt very safe staying there, too. So, if you want to stay at a nice B&B, where the staff would get a 10+ rating, try Ariel House. They are so friendly, yet professional. Also, it’s lovly to sit in the Drawing Room and see the breeze blowing into the beautiful trees, or the gentle rain falling on the large window pane. Ariel House is situated in a nice, leafy neighborhood.

I have never stayed in Ariel House but I’ve been on three occasions for their wonderful afternoon tea. This is truly the best afternoon tea experience I’ve ever had. Many friends and family who have joined me or gone at other times, have come back with such high praise. The setting is beautiful in their pretty and bright dining room. We were served during my visits, beef sandwiches, smoked salmon sandwiches, pavlova, coffee cake, melting moments, scones, individual banana breads, lemon drizzle, chocolate biscuit cake, chocolate dipped shortbread, chocolate covered strawberries and cherries… I could go on! It is an experience where you are truly spoiled and left feeling full and very happy. The price of the afternoon tea is comparatively very reasonable and the welcoming and friendly service is excellent. I can’t wait to go again!

Our family of four stayed in the «Oscar Wilde» room, #239. It was lovely, we really enjoyed it and the room was spacious enough for sure with huge windows that looked right out onto the garden. The service is amazing, the staff really is cheerful and wants to please, and the breakfast was the best bar none. This wasn’t your usual continental breakfast like we get in the states, this was a full sit down, cloth napkins, anything you want, no charge breakfast. We stuffed ourselves each day and didn’t need to eat again until dinner.
The downsides, yes the carpets are a bit worn and the furniture looks like a mish mosh of things found at yard sales. For example, our headboard was for a bed bigger than the actual mattress so it stuck out on the sides, and the large framed mirror on a stand was broken and didn’t stay upright, it kept swinging into a horizontal position so we would walk into it in the middle of the night. The water was warmish, and the hair dryer didn’t work at all. But the tea and service made up for all of that.
It is a bit out of the way from Dublin city centre and the sights — it took us 20+ to walk to catch the sightseeing hop-​on hop-​off bus, which wasn’t bad on the way there but it was raining, wet, and we were exhausted on the way back. The taxi driver from the airport referred to it as a «posh» area, and I could definitely see that. We felt very safe.
Be aware that there isn’t much to eat in the area after 6. All the pubs close their kitchens by 4, and we finally ended up driving to Pembroke to find a fish and chips place open late. So eat before you come if you’re arriving after lunch.

Lovely converted Georgian home (actually three now connected) with exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. We booked two lovely rooms, with one being quite large. When we first walked in to attempt a booking, the hotel was fully booked, but Deirdre, the manager, got on the phone and found a nearby place for us for one night until Ariel House could get us in. Breakfast was both lovely and delicious, served in a bright space overlooking the garden. Our rooms were comfortable and the shower was the best we encountered anywhere in our two weeks in Dublin. We had already stayed in two other hotels in Dublin on our trip, both quite nice, but we would pick Ariel House again. We found the price here better than most we either had used or checked out. Good restaurants within walking distance; public transport very convenient, but we enjoyed walking everywhere.

After seeing all the excellent reviews of Ariel House we were very excited to book a room here. Upon arrival, we parked out front in what quite possibly was the smallest lot I’ve ever seen. We got our bags and made our way up the front steps and into the hotel. We were lead to the front desk where we were given our room key and we ventured to our room. On the way, I honestly felt like I was on the titanic and not in a good way. The carpets were old and stained in places and the hallway we walked down was dark. We walked down into like a basement type area where our room was and I hoped for the best. The room was older and not as nice as the reviews described and we could not figure out how to turn on the hot water to save our lives! Not the worst place we have ever stayed but I would not stay there again.

Ariel house received excellent ratings for customer satisfaction, and after staying there we knew why! Extremely nice and helpful staff– eager to please. Whatever we asked for was brought to us within a minute or two and all of our requests were taken care of politely, quickly and efficiently. Our room was gorgeous and had tall ceilings making it appear extra large too. Overall a great experience with great service.

OVERALL: More like 3.75 stars. Would go again, but lacking in some areas.
Quality: 4. Free parking in a small lot, decent breakfast, great service overall. Rooms are strange, but quaint. Creaky rooms with no view.
Service: 5. They do whatever you need.
Atmosphere: 4. Creak and cracks. Large rooms with private bathrooms. Queen beds with a twin right next too it. Decently placed with a train stop about 100 feet away. Pretty far walk into downtown though.
Price: 4.
Notes: See above. We would stay there again, probably. Didn’t like Dublin that much though.

Spent three nights of our Honeymoon in Dublin at this warm and friendly guest house. The location was a bit away from City Center, but not so far you couldn’t walk. In reality we found we liked taking the DART (just a half block away) exit at Pearse Station (2 Euro/​passenger) and found our selves a very short walk to Trinity College. Our room was spacious and quaint in a Victorian style décor. The staff was friendly and helpful. Make sure to engage them and share your plans as they are a wealth of knowledge and suggestions. The Ballsbridge area had plenty of dining options nearby and all three nights we tried a restaurant within walking distance of the hotel. Breakfast was always a delightful way to start the day and the afternoon tea and biscuits was a nice break between touring the city and dinner. We had a very memorable stay here and would highly recommend staying here to anyone visiting Dublin.

If anyone is planning a trip to Dublin, I can’t recommend Ariel House highly enough. It’s a steal. 59 euro a night for a huge room with two beds, afternoon tea, free wifi, and wonderful friendly staff that will go above and beyond to make you comfortable and meet your needs. The breakfast is 11 euro. For that you get to order from the menu plus whatever you want from the buffet, and it’s all fresh high quality food. The pancakes with crème fraiche and berries, omg. I slept like a log on the bed, and enjoyed waking up to a view of the garden and brick Victorians across the street. The guesthouse is a half block from the DART station. I was really confused looking at train routes online, and thought I would have to walk a lot more than I did, but the DART will take you everywhere you could want to go. This was perfect for me, so I had the benefit of staying in a quiet safe area out of the city center, but get right back to the action in ten minutes. Ariel House is a couple blocks from a convenience store, Starbucks, a Thai place, and a nice park.
After all that, they comped my breakfasts for the hell of it.

Wir hatten ein sehr geräumiges Zimmer, sehr warm und schön eingerichtet. Das gesamte town house hatte ein tolles Flair. Das Frühstück war reichhaltig und für den kleinen Hunger oder Durst zwischendurch stand in einem wunderschönen Aufenthaltsraum mit piano immer Kuchen, Tee, Kaffee und anderes Gebäck bereit (umsonst).
Die Angestellten des Hauses sind stets freundlich wie eigentlich alle Iren.
Die Lage ist super, in fünf Minuten ist man an der Bushaltestelle, von der aus man mit Linie 4 oder 7 in 15 Minuten im Zentrum ist.
Wenn wir mal wieder in Dublin sind, wird es wieder das Ariel House sein!

We enjoyed our stay at Ariel House.
The location was adequate because you are less than 1 block from the DART, Dublin’s intra-​city train. It is also very safe.
The breakfast, which we had to pay extra for, was also good. I must say that on our visit to Ireland and Northern Ireland, we did not have a bad meal.
The staff was very accommodating and knowledgeable. They were always there to help with any question we might have. Overall– a very nice stay!

Definitely a five star and worth more than what we paid! Upon arriving at 6 am we were offered coffee and free wifi in the living room until breakfast started at 7:30. They also ensured us that our room would be cleaned first upon check out of other guests!
Back to breakfast — it was amazing. The butter tasted like ice cream, the homemade jams/​marmalades were perfect complement to the fresh baked brown bread, and they knew how to cook farm fresh eggs to perfection! A «continental» buffet and full hot breakfast service set in a perfectly Irish sunroom was included in the value rate of the room!
In terms of the room — it was huge (even by US standards). We had a spotless room that included multiple tv channels, queen sized bed, sitting area, expansive bath, and a wardrobe.
It was a pleasure each afternoon to arrive back at Ariel House to fresh baked treats and tea in the living room. We walked everywhere, it was close enough for us. But if you prefer, the DART is less than 2 blocks from the front door right at Aviva Stadium!
We felt as if the luck o’ the Irish was on our side finding Ariel House and we look forward to returning!

When we moved to Dublin we stayed here for three weeks until we found and were able to move into our apartment. Very friendly staff and excellent breakfast. I highly recommend it.
The Google office is 5 minute walk and the city centre is 10 minutes if you take the DART.

Dubliners living in the city centre think this location is «a bit out there,» but it’s actually an easy 23 min walk to St. Stephens Green and a 2 minute walk from DART. A beautiful tree lined street full of leafy green against red brick houses that glow in the occasional Dublin sunlight.
The staff is friendly and bilingual. The décor inside is the home you wish you had. And if you’re brave enough to explore the neighborhood you’ll be rewarded with warm pubs, convenient markets, commuters who eavesdrop and join in on discussions about French Laundry. «From San Francisco? I hope to make it to French Laundry one day.»
Breakfast is good and affordable. Homemade brown bread is awesome. All at an affordable cost. It’s in our best interest to stay here. So, please do.

We stayed at this hotel the first time we visited Dublin and it made the stay even more memorable! We thought it was fantastic.
The room we stayed in had lots of character, was very spacious and clean. And there was so much choice at breakfast time which is eaten in their beautiful conservatory.
It is a 15 minute walk in to the centre which we enjoyed; however, there are regular buses. The air coach stops at the end of the road too!
As you will have guessed from the address it is a stone’s throw from Landsdown Road Rugby Ground.
