The joojeh kabob was super tender and moist! The salad olvie, kashk bademjan and soup of the day(mushroom soup) were all fantastic. The salad olvie tasted like authentic, homemade from your grandmother’s kitchen. I tried the koobideh, and it was a bit too healthy for my taste but still good. Overall, it’s a great choice!

Friends of mine been to Iran on holidays last October and loved the food there. And they’ve been to Anar before so they bought a voucher for four and invited me and another friend to join them. For me it was the first time trying persian food but I think I could get used to it. I went for their Chicken joujeh kebab as I wanted something lighter(thanks to me being on a diet) but nonetheless had biji beef as a starter and tried the dished my friends went for. And all of them were delicious. And even though some where very unusual for me they surprised me plesently. I also had a glass of Sauignon Blanc. Seeing that there wouldn’t be a persian wine matching their food due to them not being allowed to drink alcohol(officially) it wasn’t a surprise that the wine didn’t really support the food but nonetheless it was a good wine. The staff was very friendly and are passionate about their food. Upstairs they have a(wine) bar which we didn’t get to try. We didn’t have the time but also it looked closed(it was a Wednesday). But I saw it while having a bit of a walk around and it looked just lovely and very comfortable. I’ll be back for sure and hopefully get to try their bar upstairs too.

Often when you buy a deal voucher you find that you get what you pay for, so I was very pleasantly surprised with my evening in Anar. I picked up a deal for € 30 for 2 courses and wine for 2 people and toddled in last night with a friend. Décor is lovely and it is not at all stuffy, my only complaint, and it is so minor as to not lose a star, is that the seats near the window are blasted with cold air when the door opens, but it is the only tiny upset in an other wise lovely dining experience. Both of us started with hummus, home made and with a perfect level of olive twang, coming served with a small salad and flat bread, and a far from stingy portion. We had different mains, I went for the vegetarian stew, and loved it. A slightly spiced sauce with black eye peas, mushrooms and pepper, served with saffron rice and a small salad, delicious, and only failed to lick the plate as the portion was so huge a third went uneaten! My friend had vegetarian dolma as her main, and adored it, a full stuffed red pepper and a full stuffed aubergine, with spiced baby potato, again, she managed half but enjoyed every bite. As my friend is having a baby, I got her wine(YEAY!) and unlike many places I got a choice of 3 whites instead of just being handed a vinegary infusion as happens in so many places. I would highly recommend Anar, and they offer deals such as a € 10 lunch or € 17.502 course Early Bird. Staff were fantastic, walking that fine line where they managed to be attentive without being overbearing, I’ll certainly be back!

One of the very few Persian restaurants in Ireland. Staff were nice and friendly. We got three different meals, Gheimeh(that was misspelled on the menu), Fesenjoon, and Barg kebab. Gheimeh stew was included in the lunch menu with a starter for 9.95 which was really good, however it’d be even nicer if they cooked the peas a bit more and added dried limes as it’s originally meant to be. Fesenjoon stew was all good.(this one doesn’t look nice in appearance, but when you eat it, it’s really nice, full of walnuts and made with pomegranate paste, etc. that makes it taste so good), it was 15 euro IIRC(not in the lunch menu). Barg is the king of Persian kebabs, and that one thing is that restaurants are usually better at, than you are at home! So I picked that. It was too plain, but the sauce and the salad and added salt fixed that! It was 17 euro(not in the lunch menu). Dough(Iranian yoghurt drink) was perfect. The herbs that were added generously, made it even better than ever! 3 euro Generally the portions were very generous, and the saffron on top of the rice was also generously added. The atmosphere, decorations, music, and everything else was perfect. We’ll certainly go back there again.

Very mediocre food, their speciality dish was overcooked Lamb served in an underwhelming sauce. The service when we walked in was pretty gruff they seemed reluctant to find us a seat as we had no booking. Can’t imagine this place will last more than a few months given the stiff competition for restaurants in the vicinity.
