The Ambassador Event Centre has a long history of entertainment, as assembly rooms, a cinema, a concert venue, and an exhibition hall. Apart from showing many classic films and hosting countless bands over the years, The Ambassador has recently housed a number of exhibitions, including Bodies, CSI: The Experience, Dinosaur Encounters, Game On, Princess Exhibition, and Santa’s Playland, Lego art exhibition The Art Of The Brick, Terracotta Warriors, along with corporate events. Revolution 1916 is currently running at The Ambassador. The venue is also available for hire.

History

Established in 1764.

The building which is now The Ambassador was constructed as part of The Rotunda Hospital in 1764, as an assembly hall and social rooms. Throughout the years, it has been a theatre, a cinema, a concert hall and live music venue, and is now a beautifully preserved and historic exhibition hall.

I was there to see the animal exhibition. It is quite expensive the entrance but it is worth a visit. You can sea the animals how they look like and you can read interesting stuff about their habits too. They have giraffe, the elephant, the bear etc. there you can see how they look like from the inside (bones etc) it is not huge excitation, which is good too. If you are in town, bring your children they will see something interesting that they will remember. It could go to enforce their passions for the school as well.

Das eigentliche Kino wird immer wieder für Ausstellungen wie CSI oder Körperwelten genutzt, der Eintritt ist z.T. exorbitant hoch und lohnt sich nur manchmal, jedoch auch sehr zentral.

At the moment the bodies exhibit is being shown which is quite fitting considering that it used to be part of the Rotunda hospital. If you haven’t seen the exhibit yet, you only have a short amount of time left to. If you can, it’s a great ticket. Absolutely fascinating and a great thing to do as a family. It was used for the hospital’s fund-raising efforts. Nowadays it’s a good place to see exhibits.
