People don’t go there if you don’t wanna get sick. My food was disgusting, and I was really sick after. The curry is really bad. Don’t get it. We got lamb Bruna and lamb corma. The naan was so hard, we couldn’t ever eat it. Rice it’s okay. All food was oily and in lamb corma was just 5 pieces. We never ever will order from them again, and I wouldn’t recommend to order for anyone. So disappointed, hopefully will get our money back.

Ambala is a place I stumbled upon by accident whilst in Dublin for a few days and staying at nearby hotel. Unfortunately I only discovered this great little eatery on my last day. The coffee was fine, chocolate sweet treats scrumptious, staff delightful and restaurant itself had some outdoor seating for the summer months. I plan to return on my next trip to Dublin to try the range of Indian dishes on the menu.

The food here is just amazing, I’ve gone in to order take away and while I waited the staff were so accommodating and polite, they asked if I’d like to sample some lassie as I waited. The staff are passionate about their food and it shows because it’s beautiful food. And there’s a display of pastries etc which I have to avert my eyes from because they look too good!!!

I am an Indian living in Ireland I would say this is the most non authentic and costly Indian food delivery in Dublin.

I have had Ambala for takeaway, delivery, and sitting in. No matter what, the food has been delicious and the service has been amazing. There are at least 100 different Indian and Pakistani restaurants within a kilometer of my work and home. I choose Ambala, no matter what. They package everything up nicely, or bring it out on silver plates. The food is consistent no matter if it’s delivered or if you are at the restaurant. One time, while I was ordering takeaway, I had to wait a few minutes. I genuinely didn’t mind! However, they were really generous and offered free samples of their traditional fruit drink, and made sure I was checked on periodically. True customer service. Tips: get the samosas, the chicken tikka with jasmine rice, the rogan josh, and there is a desert that is so nice– basically like the Indian equivalent of tres lech

Best Indian I’ve had in Dublin. I’d gotten a voucher online and they were very accomodating(and had more options than I’ve usually gotten with Groupon/Grab One). Loved their bhaji in particular but everything was quite good.

Aaglghhhmlllmmmmmmmmm… So this is just a review for the cake section. I haven’t tried the hot food, though I certainly intend to. I shared two little cakes, one was a custard cream yoke, the other one was a chocolate yoke. Both small, perfectly formed, and two were too much for two people they were so rich and sweet and delish… mmm… Did I mention they were delish? For anyone with a sweet tooth, I would definitely recommend popping in there and perusing their sweet section. There’s loads of choice and you can have in or take away. Staff were lovely as well, and there are a few chairs out front from which you can watch Camden St go by.

Ok so the food in my opinion was above average but the whole experience ruined it for me. Service is decent its a small mom and pop shop with fluorescent lighting. My fault for sitting by the rank bathroom.,… And when I mean rank it was disgusting… Vile I couldn’t enjoy my meal knowing what was going on in the overflowing toilet. And they were trying to fix it while we ate… I still feel the food coming back up… The madras was a spectular curry with loads of different flavors going on. The Karachi was ok… The masala dosa was yummy but my friend said its not that great… I don’t know I’ve never had one before. The papdi chaat for the starter is a great choice. It’s full of flavor. But beware that it is served cold. I would go back. I’m going to make sure that the oiler is fixed first though…

Great for take away, not too expensive too. This is my go to place for lunch during work days, it’s always very quick, the food is great and the staff is friendly.

Had been meaning to try this place for a while. I like simple tasty street food and dishes that aren’t served everywhere. Ambala is not cool or fussy in any way. The owner is laid back and disinterested. He wont care if you stay or go, that sort of bloke. It is simplistic and basic inside and a bit kitch. Do not be deterred! The food is really good! The kind of place one or two could go for evening snacks or a quick meal. I had Chaat a kind of street food snack, but there was loads and it was just 4 €. I also ordered a Masala Dosa which was € 6. The Dosa was cooked a few feet away on a griddle top. Served in a tacky metal dish with compartments in it for holding the accompanying dips and sauces. The kind of dish you see in prison films or in a bad canteen. Very funny. But the Dosa was serious! So wonderfully cooked, perfectly crispy and tasted great. The Dosa alone would have been enough. I will know for next time. The other staff were friendly and smiley, singing along to the Asian soundtrack. Hard to call this one. The place is odd, it has the feeling of being somewhere else. The food, at least what I had was really good. They do a lot of other food also, a whole range of curries and rice dishes. I will return for another Dosa for sure. Its not a night out place, its a on your way somewhere, hungry and want a tasty snack sort of place.

I love Ambala, had the chicken madras curry the other day and it was superb. My boyfriend had the prawn karahi which was even better although weirdly spicier even though mine had been rated with 2 chillies and his with one. I also had the saag paneer with garlic naan and omg it lasted me 2 days and was just too good! As usual the chickpea salad is delicious and the service is great. I can’t wait to go back

Went here for a coffee with a friend, very nice staff. Pretty quiet,(We were the only ones there) so we opted for outside. Decent coffee and HUGE selection of Middle Eastern/Asian Cakes and treats. Opens quite late too! Will be going back soon.

In Dublin, there is a lack of late night opening cafés excluding Accents. Ambala bucks that trend too, which is great as sometimes you just want a coffee and a chat. They have outside seating and at the back there is more seating too. A very unique spot with lots of different food options, that quirkiness is endearing in itself. The dessert counter is fantastic and I recommend the fruits tarts, but my belt doesn’t! Coffee was good, service was terrific and fun. It feels quite French in that the waiter will bring out your coffee to you on a tray etc. Nice little touch.

As I pass Ambala on the way home from work each evening, they usually have someone outside with a tray giving away samples of their food. Samosa type food and it’s always very tasty. I keep meaning to to go in for some of this food, but it just hasn’t worked out for me yet. On the last occasion I was given a flyer about the deals they do and the one that caught my eye was the 2.95EUR for a coffee and a hot croissant. The next morning they didn’t have any hot croissants ready but the tray was just being put in the oven. I couldn’t wait, so I opted boldy for the custard crown that had just come out of the oven instead. OMG, it was yummy. Hot and very bold. The coffee was pretty good too.

I don’t know what their pastries are like, not having tried them. The page doesn’t seem to allow me to mention that the place does savouries. Great Masala Dosa, the best I’ve ever had and I’m a big fan of Masala Dosa, with an unusual tomato chutney, mmmmmmmmmm Pretty good Samosa too, but they microwaed it, I would defo take one home with me. They seem to carry a nice range of Indian dishes

Ambala is one of a growing number of businesses that fills a vital niche: food that seem healthy, but are actually sweets in disguise. Methadone for sweet-tooths. They specialise in «halwa», Middle Eastern desserts that take flour or semolina and mix with sugar and magic to make tiny tasty treats. I’m going to have to come back here a few more times to sample each of these little morsels. My frame of reference for this type of food begins and ends with baklava. Ambala’s baklava was good, but their gajar halwa was the winner of my dessert battle royale. A type of carrot cake, if carrot cake was designed by people who love having type 1 diabetes, it mixes sugar, honey and grated carrot into an orange block of yum. Less impressive was the doughnut-like balushahi, which was a bit tasteless. The three cakes and a decent coffee came to € 5 and the service was fast and friendly. The layout of the place is handy too, there’s tables outside for people-watching, and a secluded seating area in the back. No wi-fi, so not an option for laptop-hobos trying to get their cake on.
