Acupuncture Point is led by Catherine Laverty, an acupuncturist, naturopath and registered nurse. Catherine aims to use her skills to help people with their health complaints and restore them to their optimum health.

People attend the clinic for various reasons, the main ones being — fertility, pregnancy, migraine, stress/​anxiety/​depression, sinusitis, hayfever, women’s health, and pain.

Catherine has completed post graduate studies in the areas of fertility and pregnancy.

History

Established in 2011.

Catherine trained as an acupuncturist and naturopath after working as a nurse and seeing that there are limits to using western medicine exclusively.

To use the two types of medicine in a complementary manner is the best way of having a complete healthcare system.

Business Owner

Catherine qualified as a Registered Nurse in her native Australia in 2001. Since then she has worked in many specialty areas of nursing including Theatre, Palliative Care (hospice), caring for adults with autism, and Endoscopy.

It was while looking after young adults with autism and witnessing the difficulties they faced, that prompted Catherine to pursue her interest in natural medicine and what it had to offer. Catherine obtained a diploma in Acupuncture and Naturopathy from the College of Naturopathic Medicine in 2010.

Catherine is a Clinical Lecturer with the College of Naturopathic Medicine, teaching at student acupuncture clinics.
