Description

Specialties

Active Method Ireland specializes in shiatsu and kappo (active method) treatments.

Shiatsu is a traditional Japanese form of bodywork in which pressure is applied to pressure points on the body using the thumbs, fingers and palms only. This pressure activates the body‘s own inherent self-healing abilities.

Kappo (active method) is also a Japanese form of bodywork, somewhat similar to chiropractic, in which the body and its limbs are positioned so that different muscle groups can be tensed then relaxed. This helps the muscles to release pain and tension and the bones to realign themselves naturally. Kappo has a long history stretching back to the feudal days of yore when injured soldiers needed to be returned to the field of action as quickly as possible.

Shiatsu and Kappo can benefit a wide range of conditions including sciatica, whiplash, frozen shoulder, back pain and muscular pain and tension.

History

Established in 2011.

Kevin Mundow studied shiatsu in Vancouver, Canada and kappo (active method) in Tokyo, Japan before coming to Dublin, his father‘s hometown, to set up Active Method Ireland.

Kappo is at present only practised in Japan, so it is making its debut in Ireland.

Business Owner

Kevin studied original Namikoshi style shiatsu at The Canadian College of Shiatsu Therapy in Vancouver, Canada from 2005 to 2007. He did 350 whole-body treatments in the school clinic and was fortunate enough to work at a walk-in clinic affiliated with the college during his second year of studies.

He then returned to Tokyo, Japan to resume his studies of kappo (active method) at the Seido Kai Kappo school, graduating in 2011.

He has been treating family, friends and aquaintances with shiatsu and kappo on a regular basis and now looks forward to introducing Namikoshi shiatsu and kappo active method to the wider public.
