Tayto Park

Booked into hotel no more than 10 minutes from Tayto Park which included day passes to Tayto Park.
We were here the previous year and absolutely loved it. This time round it was even better. With the recent addition of some new rides the Park has received a bit of a makeover which includes a new entrance. The new roller coaster, ‘Cuchulainn’ can be viewed on arrival adjacent to the new entrance and it is a sight to see. Being constructed from wood it is an architectural beauty which has to be seen to be believed. The smell of fresh new wood and the roar of the coaster as it plunges from a hight let’s visitor know, this is going to be a great experience.
My wife and I took our 11 year old son and 3 year old daughter for the day and both had plenty to keep them busy for the day from complimentary train ride, which is a new addition which we all loved to zip lines and pony track rides. The park has a number of rides to suit all ages and will keep the pickiest of kids happy.
There are plenty if free attractions within the park such as the animal reserve to paid which require tokens purchased at 1 euro per token. Most rides require 2 or 3 to tokens per person. The young kids rides which may need a parent to accompany the child are charged for the child only and the accompanying adult goes free which was great. Some attractions like the crispy Creek mining attraction require 4 tokens and the roller coaster 5 tokens but they are all very reasonably priced. There is also an option of purchasing a wrist band for 15 euro which gets you onto all rides.
We went on a Friday and found the park to be busy but not packed which was brilliant. Some of the rides had very short ques which was great. The park is staffed really well and all were very well trained and very friendly. It was great to see the staff interacting with the kids and be generally interested in ensuring the kids had the best experience possible. The owners and managers should be proud of their top notch professionalism in everything they do, I couldn’t fast them.
This was a great day out and it stood out that this theme park really wants to give the best possible experience to each visitor. It is great to see an Irish business getting everything right and it could easily match many European theme parks. What a gem to have right on our doorstep.

Was a little hesitant before coming as erroneous reviews had suggested it wasn’t great. Don’t believe these reviews — Tayto Park is a great day out and the kids will love it. Great climbing walls, lots of gentle rides for younger kids and good food options. Huge zip line was the highlight of the day. Park well managed and maintained. Friendly and helpful staff. Overall the park will benefit from maturing a little bit as much of the gardens are still not well established but can see this becoming a staple attraction in the years ahead. Well done team Tayto! Where do I start with tayto park… Firstly the price… 2 adults & 2 children for € 44… Doesn’t seem too bad does it? What you don’t realise until you arrive is that all that money entitles you to do is go into their playground & see some animals (which to be fair if you wanted to see animals you’d have gone to the zoo).
If you want to get on anything other than the stuff in the playground you have to pay. The cheapest thing I saw was 3 tokens (1 token = € 1). The tokens are not available in many places and are non-​refundable, so you can either buy loads & risk having loads over which they won’t give you money back for, or buy just a few & risk having to leave where all the rides are & get back on the queue for tokens.
Along with this the queues are endless, so prepare yourself for that. Things like the zip wire requires tokens to get to one side of the line and more tokens once you get to the other side to get back. There’s a climbing frame with three levels which requires separate tokens for each level. I couldn’t believe how much everything was! It honestly astounded me. But if you’re taking children there, you can’t then limit the stuff they go on… Really not impressed!

Disclaimer: I think myself and my boyfriend were the only people in the place without kids. We went on a bank holiday Monday and the place was PACKED — but it was still really enjoyable.
Tayto Park is like a miniature Dublin Zoo with a great selection of animals ranging from tigers and leopards to owls, eagles and porcupines. There’s a great little petting farm [OK; exaggeration-​you can only pet the goats but there was babies and they.were.adorable!!]. There’s also donkeys, pigs, ponies and bison. We really enjoyed walking around and although Tayto Park still have some work to do on the design of some enclosures, overall I was impressed with the size and space given to the wildlife.
Adding to this there was the Tayto Factory — a walk through self-​guided visit to the operational factory with some interesting facts. It killed 20 minutes and was a laugh if anything. I just wish I actually liked Tayto. Sometimes I question am I even irish [I don’t like tea either…]
There is a multitude of playgrounds for kids of all ages so definitely enough to keep families entertained for a day. I particularly like how there was speakers with music across the park — it provided background noise for adults while sitting having something to eat or a chat.
Lastly, was the the Zip Line and Climbing Wall. There are other activities too — the Sky Walk and the Fairground ride but I didn’t try these. It’s a great addition to the park for those looking for a bit of an adrenaline rush after sauntering through the park for the afternoon. The only reason this place didn’t get 5 stars is the admission fee. Tokens had to be purchased for the height/​weight restriction activities, ranging from € 2-​€ 4 per activity and I felt this was very high in addition to the € 13 entrance. While we didn’t mind too much as working adults, we did feel slightly sorry for families bringing a gaggle of children as we could envisage the costs mounting up fairly quickly!
Other than this however, Tayto Park is well worth a visit. A genius marketing ploy by the Man in the Red Jacket and I’ll definitely be back. I still don’t like the crisps though

A visit to Tayto Park means that you have to officially surrender your «I’m cool» card and own up to the fact that you have officially become a Mom or Dad. Having said that, it is actually a fun day out.
Yes it is pricey and yes you do feel a bit gouged when you are forking over euro to buy a bag of tokens so the kiddies can ride the rides, do the zip line and all that — but let’s face it, nobody goes to an amusement park hoping to save money!
I liked the fact that face painting was fast, well done — and included with the price of admission. I also thought the food at the lodge was decent and the giftshop was cute. The self-​guided factory tour is well done — although somewhat anticlimactic on weekends when the factory is not in operation and you are overlooking a deserted assembly line.
I only wished a «living» Mr. Tayto were on hand to greet us.
Fun stuff — and you are guaranteed to get your fill of Tayto — at least for one day!

What a fantastic place. For € 13 per adult and kids between ages 3 — 16 what do you get? You get several very entertaining play grounds, magic shows, a fun educational tour to see how crisps are made, a zoo! With tigers! Yes tigers! Amongst about 80 other animals, a little water park, loads and loads of picnic tables, I could go on. Yes you have to buy tokens for some of the height and weight activities but the prices are reasonable. There’s a good few restaurants, pizza, dinners etc. my wife and I were there 5 hours with our youngest 3 kids before we knew it.
I would highly recommend the place. Staff are very accommodating and polite and the price for the grubs is reasonable. We brought a picnic though.
Toilets are spotless, there are ample facilities for heating baby food and bottles and great changing facilities.
Despite the huge crowds queues were small and well managed.
Nice day out and just half an hour from the m50. 10 out of 10! Oh and under 3s are free!

loved this place, there seems to be more everytime i go, the new swirly tunnel is brilliant. Love the factory tour and the jolly music as you go around. Had a meal there aswell and it was lovely, just stay inside alot of wasps about! the farm has very strange animals i had never seen
6 year old loved it and mr tayto alway wandering sumwer for a picture. havent been brave enough for the huge tunnel slide yet but maybe next time, we will defo be back!

It is bigger and better! The last time i came here it was just a glorified playground… now it is a glorified playground that has a better layout, more animals and greater adventures. It has expanded and put in some bigger thrills for the older kids and adults! They even do a tour of the crisp factory (which we missed)…overall a really fun day out. But the loss of the star is for what really grinds my gears about this place is…1. the adults and kids are the same price, even though there is very little any adult can participate in and 2. you have to pay extra for any of the other activities! I’m lucky that my 4 year old is not interested in these YET but for older kids it could work out a very expensive day out! all that aside, a very good family day out… not to be missed!

Tayto Park is overall a fun day out for adults and kids, about 30 mins from Dublin city center there are buses available but we went by car. The walk-​around petting zoo and the buffalo plains are interesting, also the meerkat enclosure was a highlight. Highlight for bigger kids and adults is definitely the zip lines and the high wire obstacle course, both are very good value for money. For kids I found the food selection a bit limited and a bit on the unhealthy side so best to bring a packed lunch for little ones. Don’t forget to claim your free bags of Taytos on the way out of the park, and the factory tour is good also.
