Recently stayed in Cork and the Welcome Inn was by far my favorite place to get a drink. Dave, the bartender and his patrons were always having a laugh when we stopped by. It was like Ireland’s own version of Cheers. Like the review above stated its small but that’s what I felt made it so appealing. I’m certainly going back and I’m sure that I will see familiar faces upon my return.

The Welcome Inn is one of those great little gems. It’s tiny little pub but has all the ambience I have tried (and so far failed) to find in so many other pubs in Ireland. With just one bar and one barman, and one little room, it’s certainly cosy. The clientele ranges from 20-​somethings to funny Irish ‘aul lads’ who will be more than happy to furnish you with some cheeky banter — if you can understand them through their thick Cork accents.
You will find all kinds of people and pretty much everyone seems to have a smile. The music is loud enough for the patrons to sing along with but not loud enough that you can’t chat over it.
This is a gem of a place to either start the pub crawl down Oliver Plunkett Street, or finish the night.
