Stayed at the hotel and wanted to grab a close quick dinner. I was very happy with all! Great little spot

My husband and I booked a package deal with the hotel which included a dinner for two at the Weir Bistro. Having been out touring the Ring of Kerry all day, we decided that we would use up our«dinner for two» voucher and stay at the hotel and turn in early as we had another long day planned the following day. When we reached the restaurant, we asked if we would be able to eat our dinner in the bar instead of the restaurant. To be honest, the restaurant was just too inform for us considering we were so tired and we just wanted to have a couple drinks in the bar and have a quick bite to eat. The hostess had no issues with this and we snagged our own table in the bar and a server from the restaurant waited on us. Additionally, we asked if we would be able to order off of the bar menu as well as the restaurant menu and that was also no issue. I ordered the sirloin, cooked medium and it came out like a ice hockey puck. It was so well done, I could barely chew it. Had we been seated in the restaurant, I would have sent it back. I didn’t feel right sending it back after they had agreed to allow us to eat in the bar and also order off the bar menu. The chips that accompanied my steak were not fully cooked and was like eating raw potatoes soaked in oil. To make matters worse, they either make their own ketchup or use some sort of homemade ketchup. I’m a Heinz girl and that’s what I want when I eat fries. Anything else is just rubbish in my opinion. My husband ordered the steak sandwich and said that it was average at best. With his steak came shoestring fries which were quite tasty. He actually said that the horseradish was the only thing that saved the sandwich. For dessert my husband had the chocolate trio and the brownie was dry. I ordered the sticky toffee pudding and it just wasn’t right. Not moist enough, not enough sauce. Just not right. We also ordered mojitos which did not contain enough sugar and I ordered a cosmopolitan which was so sugary that I had to brush my teeth twice in order to ensure that I wouldn’t lose half my teeth during the night. Do yourself a favor and eat at the Liberty Grill just down the road from the River Lee Hotel. You will not be disappointed.
