Oh Spice Route: I still crave you. It’s only now that I’ve moved far far away from here and have had loads of Indian food in loads of places, I realise that Spice Route is really up there as one of the best I’ve had. I used to live right around the corner and order take-away all the time. :-) It’s secretly disguised as a fast food place with a menu of burgers and chips to serve the needs of most Corkonians after a night out but if you look again, you’ll find the impressive menu of Indian food that covers the wall by the front counter. The flavours, spices, everything seemed perfect every time I’ve gone here. The dal and saag dishes are my favourites and they always give you some poppadoms and chutney with your order. The place itself normally isn’t the cleanest… it really is fast food style so expect some greasy tables. But even with that, it’s totally worth it. It’s seriously good Indian food. Seriously.

Tons of food available. I even like the section where if you don’t see an Indian dish you want, just ask for it. The Chicken Sag was good and flavorful. The Mixed grill was a huge portion, and tasted great… but we weren’t given any beef in it, even though it is listed on the menu. We asked the guy behind the counter, and weren’t really given a reason to why. I don’t know if they just got over a rush in customers or anything, but the place needed a wipe down. Lots of greasy surfaces. Also, the bathroom had no paper towels. That all being said, the food was great, I’d go back and maybe just to take away.
