Description

History

Established in 1820.

Over the years the Long Dock has grown to enjoy a great reputation for providing quality food in a a relaxed atmosphere. Est in c.1820 The Long Dock like most hostelries of the time was also the local drapery and grocers for the area. Owned and ran by Mrs Hehir in the days when pubs bottled their own stout Mrs. Hehir was renowned for having a very original way of aerating stout by means of a bicycle pump which she kept behind the bar.

The restaurant has maintained its 18th century charm but extended in recent times. Originally the right of the premises had been used to drive cattle straight through to the back of the premises which housed a milking parlour. The «Bowway» or «CowWay» as it was once called has now been converted into additional restaurant seating area and the milking parlour has been converted to an Artisan Food Shop and our courtyard Kitchen.
