It’s time for an edit. Why? Because this hotel contacted Unilocal, who contacted me and ask me nicely to make sure the facts were straight. No problem! I’d like to update you now on the situation with this hotel. We got our money refunded… after we contacted our credit card and opened a case against them but before it had proceeded and required all the tedious paperwork. This was still the worst experience we had in Ireland. The man we dealt with was rude, condescending and just plain mean… and is the reason my aging parents, who were avid gardeners, will never get to see the fern grove and poisoned gardens at Blarney Castle… the main thing I wanted them to see in Ireland. After we were refused entry to this hotel, we could not find another one in our price range and had to turn around and drive all the way back to Dublin, instead of staying overnight and going to Cork and Blarney the next day. That was their only ever trip outside the USA and they’ll never be able to travel again, due to my dad’s increasingly poor health.

I have visited this Hotel several times over recent years and it has always impressed with high standards throughout. The food is of excellent quality. The rooms are comfortable, warm and absolutely immaculate. They are en suite and feature perfectly functioning showers — something curiously lacking in more expensive Hotels in my experience. There is a rare homeliness and charm about the place. It retains traditional hospitality which the so called«Celtic Tiger» seems to have banished from so many Irish Hotels. The staff have a genuine care for customers, your are made to feel so welcome, no effort is spared to ensure your complete comfort. This is all clearly reflected in the clinetele, many of whom, understandibly return again and again. A sure sign of consistent quality. To top it all a wonderful location, and the value for money is absolutely outstanding. A truly unique Hotel. I am already looking forward to my next visit!
