Not really impressed by this place. My friend brought few friend for dinner. Place is nice, was nice at very beginning but later staff was start get really annoyed. We never been told how much are drinks we order and service charge was added with pen on final bill. Will comeback there again but not for dinner with more then 2 people.

I have been here a few times. It is split into the Maximilians Bistro and Wine Bar and Maximilians Taste of Italy. I prefer eating in the Taste of Italy. The food is very good value and of decent quality. On my most recent visit I had the Ciabatta Filetto. Strips of fillet steak, fresh tomato, mozzarella cheese and caramelized onions. I had mine without the cheese and it was the best € 5.95 I have spent in a long time. I often pop in for coffee as it’s nice and relaxing and there are even some books to read if waiting on somebody to arrive. They have also some good wines by the glass.

Downgrading this rating– food was very average the last time. Was disappointed to say the least. Starter of black pudding was swimming in a cream sauce– bad combo. Main of seafood linguini was tasteless– prawns were poor. Still good service, but don’t know what happened here since the last time I stopped by, which was awesome.

Arrived by mistake, but it was great. Food, service, wine, all good. And the value excellent. Try it.

Not the first place you would look for an Italian bistro but Maximilians over Superquinn in Blanchardstown village is well worth the visit. Great food, helpful staff, good selection of wine by the(very large!) glass and a pianist playing soothing music at just the right volume on a Friday night. As it says above — yay, I’m a fan!

I am hard pressed to think of a better place to eat in Blanchardstown and the surrounding area — hence the 5 stars. We got the Scalapino al Manzo and Canard Au Patate Douce Duck Breast from their main courses menu along with a bottle of A Mano Primitivo di Puglia — Puglia. Both courses were absolutely lovely and the wine went along perfectly. The staff was extremely polite and everything was done with a smile and at a great pace. We arrived a little early, so the dining area was not buzzing — but when we left about an hour later, the atmosphere was much better. Next time we will try their pizzas as they seem very proud of these — and maybe arrive an hour later.

Used to be very regular here, but gave up after the service became so hit and miss. I think for a restaurant to work you have to be consistent and very good at what you do. Unfortunately here there is an element of being all things to all people. Italian Restaurant, Tapas Bar, Deli, Pizza it’s all a bit confused and it shows in a lack of consistency and staff that although friendly just seem too stretched and food that’s very hit and miss. Probably won’t be back after my last visit, with a reservation it took over 90mins for two courses. One main not as described, served with extras that where not on the menu and that had been ordered as a side. The other main not as ordered with sauce not on the side as requested.

First impressions not great. Upstairs over Superquinn in a fairly grotty shopping centre in the middle of Blanchardstown village. Once inside, however, it is a pleasant enough room, surprisingly large with, in my view, good swing music in the background. There were 7 of us in the party for the brother’s birthday, mixture of older and younger diners and there was something for everyone on the menu. If anything, there was too much choice — from mussels to pizza, from prawns to chicken wings and a huge selection of salads to attract every palate. Feeling hungry, I ordered wings, followed by pepperoni pizza with fries on the side. An atypical selection I guess and completely different to anyone else in the group. No complaints from me or anyone else. Wine was an excellent red which I unfortunately neglected to record but I can confirm that several bottles were consumed. A nice, unfussy experience with, as I said, a very extensive menu. Nice one.

It’s been totally revamped. loved the décor. sadly the food was MEH… Menu read better… my chicken dish was bone dry & the tastiest thing on the plate was the tomato. very disappointing. ;-(

Closed? The name changed, but the old sign at the bottom of the stairs is still the same. Must investigate further but at 1st glance, it looks the business closed down.

My friend brought us to this place on a cold winter night at the beginning of the year. The restaurant is fairly small and it took a while to find a suitable space for a party of 6. Finally we got seated next to the door — not an ideal place on a cold night. To beat the consistent draft brought in by new customer’s and people collecting their take away pizzas we started off with ordering 2 bottle so wine. We went for some Italian wine — accordingly to the occasion, but were slightly disappointed with the first red bottle, the house selection. After multiple attempts we all agreed that the only really good bottle of wine was also the most expensive one(which is not always the case, as all of you wine lovers know. Price is hardly never the right indicator for a good bottle of wine…). To not burst the bank at the beginning of the evening I went for the cheapest option of starters — a couple of oven baked pizza dough balls for a steep 4.95EUR. They were served with Garlic Butter. The dough balls were soft and steamy and topped with Garlic Butter not the worst choice after all, but yet a bit disappointing considering the price(most Italian Restaurants serve decent garlic bread for half the price). As main course I went for the Risotto — I love a good Risotto — and this one was ok, but would not be on the top of my fav Risottos of all times. My BF went for the steak and that was delicious. Cooked deliciously medium rare, bloody in the middle and served with crispy fries. The expensive bottle of red went very well with the steak. The portions were big enough and you did not feel cheated, the food was overall quiet good, but yet Im not sure if I would go back for seconds.
