One of the oldest Rugby Union clubs in Ireland, Blackrock College Rugby Football Club now plays in the First Division of the AIB league. Which must mean they are very good… but not a lot of people would know that these days because most people watch the Magners of «Heino» cup to have the time to watch a bit of the AIB. What is amazing is that if you take the time you can see some of the greats play here, like Shane Byrne.. yup. It’s a nice club, a little elitist feeling. I am a local resident, and recently received a letter from the club house asking why we all weren’t «Better Friends» and then offering us membership for such and such a price. I wasn’t impressed. Perhaps you need to enjoy the area for what it is, a nice open spot with lots of pitches and if you sneak in on a quiet night you can walk the dog here no hassle.
