Fresh bagels and Timmies — Canada returnees look here! Yo Bago caused quite a stir back when it opened in 2010. It was the ONLY place to be full on Canadian, besides the Keg in LKF, serving bagels and Tim Horton’s coffee. I thought it would be gone after a few months, but boy was I wrong. It is 2015 now and as far as I know, Yo Bago is STILL the only place in Hong Kong that serves this combination of Bagels and Timmy’s(The Big Bite in North Point also prides itself on being Canadian, but it is more of a wings, burger and beer place. Worth checking though!). They have taken a step further to become a bit of a lunchtime crowd place by offering sandwich-like bagels, you’ll get stuff like Philly cheese steak, chicken fajitas and the like inside your bagel, for HK40 – 70, depending on what’s inside. Then you can add HKD10 for a soup or a coffee(Timmy’s, of course). The bagels are fresh and the quality of the food is decent. Slightly busy during lunch and everything is made to order, so do not expect HK-fast food speed when ordering. The place is cozy with seating for around 15 people inside, with additional seats outside the shop, or of course you can just order to go. The Tim Horton’s coffee is basically just tins of coffee powder they bought from the chain back in Canada, that they make for you. You can do the same if you have a friend come back from there. Quality-wise? Well, coffee is coffee, Timmy’s was never known for being premium anyway. But if you are actually from the north, it’s quite endearing when you can walk up to the counter, order a «double-double» and have someone actually get you. In summary, it’s a simple, reliable lunch that hits the spot, Canadian or not.
