Before getting on the Star Ferry to Hong Kong, I had to decide between the Mr. Whippy-​type ice cream truck on the street and XTC to enjoy on the ferry ride. I’m always up for a new gelato place, so I tucked into XTC. The gelato was a bit pricey, and it just didn’t meet my expectations. The flavor was decent but it didn’t have the rich, creamy texture that I expected. It also melted super quickly — which was OK and more the fault of the extreme heat and humidity than the gelato. XTC just wouldn’t make it onto my list of top gelaterie.
