Whiskers N Paws

I haven’t yet visited Whiskers N Paws in the flesh, but I am a customer and can confirm that they are indeed a godsend.
If you’re car-​less (like me), there’s no way you’d enjoy lugging a 15-​pound bag of dog food across town on MTR unless you truly enjoy suffering and sweating profusely.
But Whiskers N Paws delivers, and they do it for free — at least on HK island, though I’m not sure if there’s a minimum spend. They also carry my Shar Pei’s favorite brand of dog food, the Canadian brand Orijen. I was starting to worry that Sasha would have to switch to a different label after moving to HK, and as it turns out only a handful of retailers carry this premium brand. I was also able to scoop up some Earthbath shampoo and wipes (love this natural Californian brand!), a new bed while we await for the fancier one to arrive via shipping container, a banana toy with squeaker, and some premium freeze-​dried treats. This may seem excessive, but my pup deserves all of this — and more — following a 15-​hour flight!
This store with a natural product bent also offers grooming services, pet care classes, and they host events such as adoption days. But get this: they’ve recently created a permanent cat homing station! This dedicated space shows off beautiful cats to potential feline parents. How’s that for causing all the feels?
I think that Sasha and I will soon need to make a field trip out of it and visit Whiskers N Paws! Thanks for carrying the first-​rate products that Sasha enjoys so much, and for making them so accessible.

Whiskers n Paws is Hong Kong’s answer to Pet Co, but take away the Costco/Sam’s Club feel and throw in some warmth and soul.
Located in Horizon Plaza, it is very spacious and welcomes customers to shop with their pets. There is also a terrace at the back of the store so pets can enjoy the outdoors after shopping for necessities with their human companions. The store carries a lot of Western petcare products, some are organic for the optimal health of your furry friend.
The shop also collaborates with local grassroots pet shelters and regularly organizes pet adoption days to offer an extra channel for such charities to promote their adoption programs. They also help publicize fostering services where you can help these charities care for these pets in need.
Another great thing that separates this shop from the rest is their regular pet care classes with great external speakers. Not only is it a great way to drive traffic to the shops but it’s also a good way for pet owners to learn how to care for their pets properly.
If I had a pet, this is definitely where I’ll shop.

I’m a bit of an animal liker, not an animal lover per se, a liker! I like them to an extent, but only until they poo on my living room floor. However, I do get the need to provide for our animal brethren, and think that Whiskers N Paws is a great one stop shop for al your pet needs, providing they are cats or dogs.
Located in Horizon Plaza in Ap Lei Chau, Whiskers N Paws has a large store filled with all sorts of pet products, raging from the necessary foods, care products, bedding, through to more playful items like squeaky toys and exercise apparatus. The store is spacious and well laid out, so there is plenty of room to wander around, with pets and kids.
As well as the store, there is a terrace and play area out the back for your pets to run around in and be sociable. It costs HKD60 per pet, but is nicely kept and a bit of a treat in the city. The terrace area also serves as a «showroom» for the numerous pet adoption days. Kirsten’s Zoo runs a cat adoption day every 3^rd Sunday of the month, and Hong Kong Dog Rescue runs a puppy day every Sunday. If you are thinking about getting a pet, I would thoroughly recommend these adoption days as a first port of call.
The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, but there don’t seem to be very many around, so you may have to chase around a bit looking for help. The products are reasonably priced, and the range is plentiful. It’s nice to be able to come to one big out of town store for everything, rather than numerous mom and pop stores in town.
