Hole in the wall type of establishment on steep street… The theme is dark and it is tiny with lounge type of tables, tall tables and stand up bar. At the stand up bar, it is not a elbow rubbing type of situation. It is more like a butt to butt as the servers/customers walked in/out. About the food, it surprised me. The beef is quality and cooked perfectly with juice running out as you slice it. About the drinks, the bar tender did a great job in the cocktail section. The wine selection was not huge but very quality pick in it.

After eating a number of Chinese breakfasts over the past few days, I was in desperate need for something different. We decided to try this place out as it was near our apartment and I had read about it on Sassy HK. My husband ordered their Wagyu English breakfast which came with 2 eggs, 2 pieces of toast, back bacon, sausages, potatoes, mushrooms and English style beans. When the plate arrived, it was huge — lots and lots of food! He ordered his eggs over easy but one of his eggs was actually cooked to over hard. The back bacon was WAY over cooked. It was pretty much like jerky and pretty much inedible. The potatoes weren’t crispy and were rather lackluster and the mushrooms were a bit too salty for our liking. A very disappointing dish especially at over $ 100HK. I ordered the omelette with mushrooms and parmesan. This was also a very large omelette. The eggs I felt were also overcooked. I had to eat it with ketchup to make it more palatable. We also ordered fresh fruit with greek yogurt and honey. There was an array of fresh fruit(blackberries, strawberries, mango, blueberries, raspberries) which were delicious. The only thing was is that the amount of greek yogurt and honey given was disproportional. There was WAY too much honey and too little greek yogurt. It would have made more sense to give a small amount of honey to mix into the greek yogurt so you could change the sweetness to your liking and then have a larger quantity of greek yogurt to eat with your fruit. Oh well. We also ordered orange juice which was freshly squeezed and an Americano. Overall, we were certainly full from the breakfast but didn’t feel it was worth the high price tag especially since it was executed so poorly. Definitely would not come back for breakfast here.

A month ago, a friend of mine and I went to have lunch at Oolaa Petite. As we came down the street we walked past Wagyu Café and saw its set lunch, which looked pretty good(for the same price — 155HKD plus service charge) with almost better options on the menu than Oolaa. Today, a catch up was much needed and I let him decide the place… surprise! Yeah, there we were at 1.30pm looking at the menu. On the set lunch, for starters we both went for the salad(smoked salmon and feta). It came nicely decorated(see picture) and I had a double portion of salmon since my friend doesn’t like it… which made up for the lack of feta. As a main I ordered the pork, and it was excellent: big juicy pork rack with a generous portion of sweet potato and a few veggies accompanied by apple sauce. I ate it all. On the other hand my friend was feeling a little jealous I think… his steak sandwich was okay: the meat was good but he forgot to mention to have it well done and it came medium rear so he sent it back to the kitchen(that was his fault though). The bread wasn’t great apparently and he ended up having the meat on its own, plus the fries, also tasty. And finally, the dessert: two pieces of brownie and a mixed berry crêpe. My friend made the honors and had both of them. His judgment: the crêpe absolutely scrumptious… the brownies were fine, a little too hard. A note on the service: really quick and efficient. I was starving when I got there and since it was pretty busy I thought it would take a while… not at all, my belly was happy shortly after I sat down. As they change the menu every so often, I will definitely go back. It’s great for a change from the super busy places in Admiralty.
