Singaporean food in the States needs to move over, because I think I will literally never cheat on toast box. The laksa is soo good, yet so simple that I didn’t know what else to do. This was my first time trying toast box on this trip and I didn’t even want to let my love have the first bite, and I always give him the first bite. I believe that this place is located in a mall, we went to so many that I do not even remember which one so location wise sorrry! I just know that it’s in times square. The depth in the broth here is unbelievable, albeit on the sweeter side, but still amazingly flavored and full of hearty deliciousness. We shared one laksa and it was amazing. It was pretty packed when we came here at night so it was cramped but all worth it. I can honestly say that from now on whenever I come back, I am going to make my love take me to Toast Box. One other thing we tried was the dinosaur milo which was surprisingly good. It wasn’t too overpowered as I had thought since the cup came out with so much milo. I’m not actually a fan of chocolatey drinnks, but it was really good.

Stopped by when our feet were tired from walking around. Quite fun watching the lady pouring the long tea. Wish I had my camera ready for video.

You must try the breakfast here– you won’t regret it. Kaya toast, poached eggs with soy sauce. strong milk tea… the list goes on! Definitely try this place out if you’re craving Singaporean food.

Popular place during lunch. Be ready for a wait. I always order their T1 set. It’s a toasted sandwich with some of their signature kaya jam and butter. Also comes with a fried egg and a drink. I don’t know what the jam is inside this sandwich but it’s like crack. I always crave it when I walk past Toast Box and their milk tea is very good as well. Nice and strong tea flavor. They also long pour the tea right in front of you when you order. Previously I’ve also had their laksa and it was very tasty as well. Right amount of spice and flavor.

Singapore is known for its delicious food. Every time I go there, I just indulge like I haven’t eaten in a year. Whenever I go to Toast Box, I am reminded of the food in SG… namely the eggs and laksa and their Nyong Yang noodles. I get excited whenever I had no plans and could just grab a quick bite at Toast Box, it doesn’t happen often and I feel privileged whenever I have a chance to go. The location at Times Square is quite small, but they have some seats outside of the shop. I used to come here just to buy their prawn bread. I miss those things. I would bring them to work the next day as a snack or even lunch if things got really busy. They’re so tasty. Aside from their bread, I have a few other favourites, I really like their nyong yang noodles. It’s the rice noodles loaded with a special peanut-y sauce. I don’t think it could be in any way healthy but it’s quite small but full of flavours. The half cooked eggs that come as a set are pretty tasty as well. I know, they really are just half cooked eggs plus a sauce and pepper, but somehow, the combination screams comfort. The laksa at Toast Box isn’t my favourite but it’s decent when compared to the many failed laksa places in hong kong. The location here at times square is convenient, however during lunch times, be prepared to have to fight for a table. People will be hovering over your table like a swarm of flies, waiting for you to leave, if you are one of the lucky ones that can find a table in the first place. I can totally see why. Good value, decent food

Toast Box, a Singaporean chain, would probably sound familiar to all you Singaporeans out there. Serving hearty Singaporean food like laksa, kaya toast and nasi lemak, the food here is more or less pretty authentic. I’m not Singaporean myself but have been there a couple of times, and I would say the food here comes pretty close to what one would find in Singapore. The Toast Box I frequent most is the one at the basement of Times Square. A few years ago, they tore it down, replaced it with a Body Shop, and about a year ago Toast Box opened up again, a couple of meters away from where it used to be. Most of the time that I pass by, the restaurant is pretty crowded — there’ve been a few times in the afternoon that my friends and I are craving some kaya toast, but there isn’t a single vacant table in sight. That said, if you come in the early hours of lunch(just before 12) or dinner(before 6 or 7), you should be fine. I usually order the nasi lemak lunch set here. For a little less than $ 50, I can get a drink to go with it and I usually get iced coffee. The nasi lemak can come with either fried chicken wings, friend chicken drumstick or luncheon meat — I’ve tried both the one with the chicken wing and the one with the drumstick, but I prefer the former. The drumstick is way too breaded in my opinion; I’d prefer to be able to get the meat quicker! The nasi lemak with chicken wings comes with chili paste, peanuts, fried anchovies, egg… the standard nasi lemak fare. You get three chicken wings, which I find is just right for the portion of rice. I don’t eat a lot of chili paste as I’m not very into spicy. I usually can’t finish the rice, peanuts and anchovies… There’s just way too much of it! I would definitely recommend Toast Box for all you Singaporeans out there who are craving a piece of home. The price is reasonable(though you can find this much cheaper in Singapore, of course), and the portion is decent, if not a little large. This branch doesn’t serve Hainanese chicken rice — I’ve tried it at the Jordan branch, and I think it’s not bad!
