The breakfast buffet here is what one would expect from this hotel. They have custom congee cook who will whip up something with your favorite toppings. Lots of juices, beads, fruit choices. Gorgeous view of the harbour.

Check in for lord stow’s Portuguese egg tart, didn’t have chance to go to Macau but hey there’s one from the excelsior hotel espresso café! Their egg tarts is nice, but cannot compare to tai Cheong bakery ones Cuz both of them is different texture. Got a box of 6 to bring back home, hopefully they will survive the flight! =)

I have stayed here on many, many occasions over the years. Little has changed. It is still a reasonably priced hotel, very well located in the Causeway Bay Area and all the shopping and eateries. Service is generally good and the rooms of a decent size, not big unless you can wrangle an upgrade. There is tea and coffee making facilities and complimentary water. The fridge is well stocked, but I hesitate to consume anything as it comes with a high premium. There are Wellcome stores nearby where you can pick up some groceries cheaper. The room is equipped with an iron and ironing board and a large bolted down safe, big enough to store a large laptop computer. You get a discount for eating at the hotel restaurants.

this review is for lord stow’s bakery tucked in the hotel café at the back — didn’t stay at the hotel so I can’t say much, but it seems pretty much like any generic middling place. shipped in daily from the egg-tart-land that is macau, these egg tarts disappear quickly, and for good reason. this unassuming, tiny hotel-café on the ground floor of the aged excelsior hotel serves up the delicious custardy desserts in the portugese style — which means dark, blistered custard in cups of flaky pastry. I think the shipment is about once or twice a day, and then they run out till the next — so make sure you go earlyish!

My go-to hotel in Hong Kong for the past two decade. Sure the property’s a bit dated, but it’s smack dab in the center of Causeway Bay! Sogo, the MTR, and miles of restaurants are just around the corner. Among suits, the Excelsior is considered a nice place to host lunch meetings. But weekends, on my last check, the place is taken over by mainly western and Japanese tourists. And its basement pub serves(arguably) the best Hong Kong curry and buffet in town.
