When you are really craving a burger and your meeting your friend in Central you are bombarded with so many choices. We slowly knocked out the contenders and picked The Butchers Club. We picked a spot by their window bar to people watch(although I think we got more looks as we stuffed our faces!). Their menu is pretty simple with your basic cheeseburger but then they have their secret(not so secret menu) plastered around the walls. We got the classic cheeseburger with duck fat fries and a beer. The burger was juicy but not too drippy and although the fries were fatter than I normally like them they were still crispy enough on the outside to satisfy. We ended up having to walk up and around the block before heading home as our bellies were so full!

Do you know just how many burger joints there are in central?! A lot. We whittled down the list and headed to Butcher Club to check out their buns. The restaurant is pretty cool, and we picked a couple of chairs on the window bar to let us people watch as we nommed our dinner, which proved to be more hilarious as we had people watching us from the street as we shoved delicious morsels into our mouths whilst making grunting noises as we tried to catch up on each other’s gossip. The menu is a little overwhelming in burger choices. Their«secret» menu is now thankfully printed and plastered on the wall. I was in the mood for pure beef so stuck with their original burger(with beef, bacon, cheese and a deeeeelightful spicy sauce) and shared the duck fat fries. The burger was juicy and and cooked to perfection. It was scrummy bite after bite, and it was soon devoured. The fries were also crunchy yet soft at the same time. #perfecto. Will definitely be back — well, once we’ve done the burger joint rounds in central.

walking down from the mid terraces I looked down and saw their sign and decided to check it out. pub décor and a simple menu. I paid $ 15.00 American for a BIG ground chuck burger dressed with fries cooked in duck fat and a coke. The quality was top tier, and totally on par with any I have had in San Francisco. Entire staff is very friendly. Noise level is high. So when you have had your full of Dim Sum and Noodles and want a some meat, try it out.

Even after a few days, you can only eat so much dim sum. I wasn’t really craving a burger, per se, but I wasn’t opposed, and with the«secret» menu, why not? I had the S1 — The Hogtown. A burger with pulled pork, bacon, onions, and cheese. I also had the thrice-fried duck fat fries. The food was fine — the burger was nothing special. The beer selection is lacking(PBR and Peroni), it’s a little hipster trendy for me(as is the ambiance, but I like to think that’s Engrish translation), and it was pretty freaking slow service. I wasn’t in a rush, but come on. Just because I sit at the bar doesn’t mean you get to ignore me. Sadly, the best part of my meal was watching an incredibly awkward and entertaining first date unfold, and disastrously implode. No, it’s not the BEST place you could go to in Hong Kong, but if you’re craving a bit of the west, it’s fine. Just be prepared to pay for it.

Burger sauce was great. Also loved the bun and cheese. Meat was a tad dry but still delicious.

Came here with my friend for lunch today. They only have one burger on the menu, «The burger», and also a secret menu selection of burgers. I went for the burger and my friend chose a special seasonal burger that had avocado and came with some fried tofu. The burgers were delicious, patty was well seasoned. We also ordered the duck fat fries that were very flavourful. Butchers Club is definitely a local favourite, they also offer good happy hour deals as well.

I used to only get the standard cheese burger(best way in my opinion to evaluate a good burger), avoiding the«gimmicky» secret menu items, but I’m totally converted after having the Wu-tang burger. I still can’t explain it because it reads like an odd mix of flavors, but it just works! I’m definitely not going to say this is THE best burger in HK, but it’s pretty solid and consistent so you know you’re getting a close second every time.

I had some difficulty getting my mind wrapped around what impression«The Butchers Club» wanted me to have. Clearly they serve burgers and beer and you get this impression from the signage before you walk in. But it is from here that things get a little unclear and less defined as it pertains to «what is the vibe of this place.» The place looks like part bar, part English pub, part nightclub(based on music selection), part Coyote Ugly(short the girls on the bar), part Spring Break hangout. Some castiron decorative cow heads on the walls and an artistic anotomy of a cow art piece as well, but the décor, the music, the menu, the feel are somehow not in sync for me. This place has a feel of «turn and burn»…basically limited beer & wine(only two selections of Peroni or PBR(both in cans) and only two selections of wine of red or white — they do have spirits though too), limited menu of about 6 – 8 burger choices, one option on fries and basically that is it. So you do get the impression of «drink something, eat something and then clear the chair for the next person please.» As a bar, it would seem like the limited beer options with a small option for food makes it an average bar. As a restaurant & burger joing, the limited food options for burgers make it seem really unappealing, knowing the burger was only slightly above average, not mention $ 100-$ 120HKD. The minimalist menu I felt was not minimalist interesting, but limited. Staff was fun, friendly and hustling. The wait time for burger was not long. There was a que kind of lining up at the door to get in to this place before we left. The demographic we saw was basically young & Asian or any age and caucasian. Based on Hong Kong standards of beef and burgers, I would give the burgers we ate a solid 8. If you are from America and actually from the west where you have cowboys as friends and ranchers as neighbors, I would give the burgers a 5.5. The presentation was good, but somehow this burger joint misses the mark a bit for me.

Very simple menu, one hamburger and one type of fries. It was awesome, cooked to perfection, the fries fried in duck grease, very flavorful!

One of the best burgers I’ve ever had. Easily the best in Hong Kong.

A place that has one burger on the menu? It better be good! Phew, the daily queues out the door and a super happening vibe tall the story… These burgers are superb! There is a secret menu for those that want to try something a little different, but I’m a traditional burger guy and the simple, fat and juicy prime aged Aussies beef are the best around. Get in and grab a burger!

The best I’ve had so far in Hong Kong! And you gotta love the lady that screams out your orders. She’s got some lungs on her! Food presentation, taste and overall vibe of the restaurant is great. Highly recommend it for this craving a bacon cheeseburger that wont fall apart in your hands.

I came to Butcher’s Club Burgers as part of a community Unilocal event and admittedly had no preconceived expectations as I didn’t exactly know what I was walking into. However, expectations or not, it was a great find in the Central/Mid-Levels area of Hong Kong island. I ordered the burger and fries with a PBR.(Can’t get more American than that can you!?) The burger was good — cheese, pickles and bacon with a pretty hefty bun. The fries were scrumptious — fried in duck grease you can’t get much more flavorful than that when you are talking potatoes. Oh, and the PBR was a refreshing touch too — it’s been awhile. I think my favorite part was definitely the kids table at the back with a movie playing(Monsters, Inc. because this place is on that level of cool!) complete with crayons, coloring book and kiddie stools. While I’m not a child, but I can attest to the fact that the kids table is the best seat in the house. It’s crowded toward the front but this area(while low ceiling) is quiet, relaxed and fun. ProTip: check out Butcher Burgers online and you can find out more about their secret menu!(Also available by QPR code in the establishment).

This burger joint serves up a tasty fresh burger for roughly 100HKD. This place is bigger than the one in Wan Chai, so it is easier to find a table and get to the counter. They blatantly advertise a «secret» menu, which I do not appreciate. Either leave it secret for those in the know… or just share the menu. The burgers here are thick here, so if you thinner patties, consider other options in the area.

I finally got to check this place out after hearing many good things about their burgers. The atmosphere in the here is very casual. You go up to the counter and order and find your own seat. I loved that there is big window that faces the street so you can people watch while eating your burger. My friends and I went during lunch time, and it was busy, but we were still able to find seats. Now onto the food, I thought the aged beef used to make their burgers was really flavorful, and I love that it was cooked to medium. I didn’t think that the rest of the burger was that special though. We also tried their Woo Tang burger which had kimchi in it. My plain burger was $ 100 without sides, and the Woo Tang burger was $ 120. I think it’s a rather pricey burger for not coming with anything else and the size. I’m not sure I would say it’s worth that price, but if you’re looking for a solid burger in the Central area, this will definitely satisfy your craving.

Sweet burgs, amazing duck fat fries, and a(reasonably priced) whiskey and bourbon selection to be envied by any other self-proclaimed burger joint. They have a nice veggie burger, too. You’ll appreciate the minimalist(but not pretentiously so) menu and nice friendly vibe. Don’t come here looking for fancy wines, cocktails, or beers(although they do have everything you need in that regard) or obnoxiously specialized orders. You’ll be a better person for it. By the way, firsties.
