I had 40 minutes before my train to Mainland. I needed something quick, delicious, and *close* to my current position, right then, right there. I am happy to report that Unilocalers came through again. First of all, this place is goddamn hard to find. I ran towards what looked like to be the billboard advertisement and that led me to the second floor of the mall. This was on the 6th floor. I went up the escalators and found out that it only went up to the 3rd floor. #HKLogic. I went downstairs to the first floor and took the escalator, which was the only way to access the 6th floor. One must go down to go up #lifelessonshit. The food was amazing for the price. I had the rice with minced meat… which is probably the most generic Taiwanese comfort dish. It came with the runniest soft boiled eggs and a size-able portion of rice. You eat it with this huge shovel-spoon. Seriously, you can dig a war trench with this spoon. I washed it down with one of the best taro milk teas I’ve had. The one complaint is that they did not give enough minced meat to go with the rice. No matter Asians are so thin.

Their menu was quite extensive, so after getting lost in their menu for a few minutes, we decided to simply stick to the tried-and-true dishes. Spicy beef noodle soup Appetizer sampler: cured meats and egg Wonton in spicy oil All three were extremely delicious. Nothing extraordinary or super memorable to give it 5 stars, but well done none the less. I would definitely return here to try their other dishes.

Honestly, I have tried the toast box last time and don’t think I’m really into it. The whole construction is just too sweet and plain. While the ice cream tastes quite artificial and the toasts cool down too quickly, I have lost my interest after taking a few pictures and tried a few bites. Anyway, I like the lunch set here. This is my twice time here and I’ve order the same beef brisket, minced meat rice and veggie as the last time. The beef brisket is quite impressive and tasty, perfect to go with the rice. Also, the latte is good, authentic Taiwanese style.

Everything is amazing here. We are so glad we randomly chose to eat here on our vacation. Just look at the pictures that the other Unilocalers have uploaded ! It tastes as good as it looks !

Finally got to try teawood, I actually came back to HK in June and my friend intended to take me here but it just didnt happen because we went to the TST branch which was PACKED on a Friday night. We decided to be smart and come here for Saturday Brunch this time round! Glad we did because it really wasn’t as busy! It’s a bit hard to find, it’s in a shopping centre next to Sogo but on the sixth floor– and you can’t take the escalator up– only the lift. :/Anyways, it was good food– I ordered a beef noodle soup because it’s Taiwanese delicacy and also we had a rice box too which, which was massive. How do all these HK girls stay skinny?(For that reason, we were fearful and did not order the french toast which is literally half a loaf of white bread and cream and all the good stuff that kills you!) Then shared a juice and an oyster pancake. Noodle soup was good and beef was tender, but skip the pancake! it’s greasy and not really worth it… Bill came to about 200+ HKD which isn’t bad at all, especially for causeway bay.(not that you should take that advice from me because I’m not a native!) and then got some pineapple cake to takeaway– which i took home to London. BUYITALL, it’s amazing– dried pineapple inside was AMAZING!

I don’t know what’s with the sudden influx of Taiwanese restaurants here in Hong Kong, but hey, I’m not complaining! Teawood is one such restaurant. The one I go to most often is right opposite Sogo in Goldmark, and it’s almost always crowded! Once, my friends and I were there at close to 11pm on a weekday, and the restaurant was full — not a vacant seat in sight. The waiter gave us a number and told us that we actually might not be able to get a table before the time for the last order. Luckily, we did manage to get a table in time. The bubble tea here is really good, and is a little different from the ones at stores like Gong Cha and Share Tea. The tea is a little less milky, and the bubbles, or the tapioca balls, a little chewier. At around $ 20, it’s obviously more expensive than at other places. Besides bubble tea, their fruit floral tea is also really worth trying. It’s presented on a transparent pot so you can see all that color from the petals and the fruits, and unlike a lot of teas that just smell good, this actually tastes delicious! I’ll admit that I haven’t really had proper meals here. Every time we come by, my friends and I are just looking for a place to sit down and have a little to eat, so we just get some drinks and order the fried chicken — and if we order something every time without fail, you know it’s good! The chicken is tender and succulent, and even though it’s fried, it doesn’t feel like the chicken’s been coated in layers of oil. The chicken is fried to beautiful golden perfection and is just so delicious — my mouth is watering as we speak! The menu here at Teawood is really creative — it’s designed to look like a magazine, which is really cool! In fact, the inferior of the restaurant is quite nice. It has a kind of English cottage-y feel and it’s decked out to look more like a café than a Taiwanese restaurant. The table itself is pretty unique too — there’s a patch of artificial grass and a transparent glass covering it. I’m not sure what kind of theme they’re trying to give off with that grass, but it certainly is not like anything I’ve seen before! I can’t vouch much for the food here unfortunately, but the drinks are great! There’s a key lime pie I see every time I walk into the restaurant that I’ve been itching to try… Maybe next time!
