Tai O lookout is the restaurant within the Tai O heritage Hotel. The place is like a green house, sunshine filters in in daytime and you can look out into the night sky through the glass pitched roof at night. The wooden chairs here are particularly well made. Intricate decorations are carved into the wooden seats and it does add an air of the old British to the place. It is particularly magical when looked upon at night time. The glass box glistening like a gem in the dark peaceful starry sky of Tai O that is not yet subjected much to the light pollution of the city. There was a team of crew filming something at one night time when I was having a drink there too. Indeed it’s quite an enchanting place that is historical and modern at the same time. The restaurant offers quite a lot of locally sourced food and seasoning(such as the famous shrimp sauce) and made them into fusion cuisines. The food I think is average to be honest, but drinks there are quite thoughtful. They have cocktails with a local twist and, I am particularly impressed that they even serve red and white wine from local Hong Kong winery! Do you even know HK has a winery? I certainly did not, until I saw it in the menu. The place is perfect for a chill-out drink after you’ve walked through the whole Tai O area before reaching the hotel. If you are staying in the hotel, you can opt to have meals included in your package as well.
