Love me some good Taiwanese hospitality! They offer you a free pineapple cake to try and a cup of their oolong tea for free just for stepping in! Also when I went with a friend, they were about to close so they didn’t offer us any tea but they gave us 2 pineapple cakes(each) to take home instead ! Also they didn’t try to hard sell anything and was quite generous with their«samples»! Sunny hill produces my favorite pineapple cakes, and their location is pretty hidden in the upper part of central. I love the quietness of the location and the interior feel and décor. Minimalistic and quite a change of scenery from the high energy/fast paced central. Just come in to sit down and enjoy a cup of tea, or if you feel bad for eating their samples then buy a box or two. Or don’t. Since they don’t really hard sell you on the cakes. Tip: the prices of the pineapple cakes is significantly higher than buying the cakes from Taiwan.(~$ 20-$ 25 usd for a box in HK or ~10USD for a box in Taiwan)

This is place serves so called«Taiwanese Hospitality» a free piece of famous pineapple cake and hot Oolong tea to anyone willing to sit down and relax for a moment. For those who later feel guilty of receiving freebie, they will end up buying a box or two to take home, what a brilliant business model. Sunny hills have a few shops around the world and each of them are uniquely designed, the Hong Kong branch is especially cozy with the single communal table and few decorations on the side. The staff are well trained in the art of Taiwanese hospitality, very friendly and polite, it’s a rare phenomenon in Hong Kong, so please enjoy the«guilt free» hospitality and chillax.

Is there anything better than Taiwanese Pineapple cakes? This place is secluded and a little difficult to find, but once you get there, you won’t be disappointed. My sister brought us here to sample the cakes with some tea and to purchase a box to bring back home. The shop itself is small, but the servers immediately bring out your free sample with tea, and you can sit down, relax and enjoy the experience. The pineapple cake is hard on the outside with a sweet mixture of pineapple. I love most asian desserts because they aren’t too sweet, and this is definitely a must do in HK. We ended up getting 4 boxes since they were buy 3 get one free. Also, they are easy to transport and individually wrapped for convenience.
