Loved Sevva: D My boyfriend and I came here for an afternoon tea session around Chinese New Year. Service was excellent — Multiple waiters /host checked on us on good intervals. The tea sets were so cute and delicate, we had a great time here :) Our set was CNY themed, which included: * Golden Turnip Cake * Toasted Crumpet with Smoked Salmon & Chive Cream Cheese * Signature Crabmeat & Prawn Salad Burger * Wild Mushroom Ragoût on Crispy Rice Cracker * Salad Kyoto on Cucumber * French Ham & Brie Cheese Roll Sandwich * Chicken Roll Sandwich * Chicken A La King Tarlet * Mini Short Rib Burger * Guava Cake * Celebration Cake * Red Bean Cake * Almond Panna Cotta * Fortune Cookies * Cigar Wafer Cookies //English breakfast tea Our top three picks were the short rib burger, red bean cake and the wild mushroom ragoût on rice cracker. Delicious! This is a great place to take a break after a long day of shopping, conveniently located at IFC mall.

There’s not much I can say about Sevva that hasn’t been said before. It seems to be the best rooftop bar to get a great view of the city. It’s almost a mandatory spot for first timers in Hong Kong. The drinks are expensive, so just come for one. The Woolloomooloo rooftop bar is also a great vantage point and drinks are a bit cheaper, if you’re looking for another option. It’s very cold up on the rooftop, much colder than ground level so wear a lot of layers and a thick jacket.

Sevva is by far my absolute favorite bar in HK and here’s why. They have a fabulous outdoor patio with a spectacular view of HK. It’s right next to the HSBC building, so be prepared to have your visual senses stimulated by a load of bright lights! Aside from the view, the desserts are also . My favorite is their famous crunch cake! The servers could probably have been a teensy more attentive– we had to ask for hot water at least 3 times before it was brought over to us. With that said, Sevva is definitely a bit on the higher end side. Don’t be surprised if you pay upwards of $ 20USD for a drink! I think the swanky vibe, decadent desserts and awesome view is definitely well worth it!

The views here are as good as it gets for a bar located on HK Island. Table reservations require a 7000HKD minimum spending and can accommodate up to 10 people. So grab 9 friends or dig into your retirement savings, because the view is worth it. You will be up in the air right next to the BOC, HSBC, and Standard Chartered buildings. Expect to pay 25USD /drink.

I’m not quite sure what cuisine this place is aiming for. When I got the menu, it was overwhelming. There is Indian, Thai, Japanese, Chinese, American, and French influenced dishes on the menu.(Indian food seemed the most popular) So basically a confusion fusion restaurant? When seated they brought out complimentary crispy Indian bread(Papadum) in 5 different flavors. The duck salad with mango complimented very well. The Truffle Mac and Cheese we ordered had penne instead of Macaroni which confused me a little. The sliced truffles were on point though. Not bad. The Truffle Risotto was extremely disappointing except the pomegranate seed added a contrast to the flavors. I didn’t taste any truffle in the dish whatsoever. Would pass on this dish. To end the meal, we ordered the famous Crunch Cake. Honestly, it was good but it was too hyped. The sponge cake was whatever but it was the honeycomb crunch that everyone seemed to love.(Go to SF and look for the Coffee Crunch Cake at Yasukochi!) Overall, the place was alright due to my high expectations(3.5÷5).(Maybe the afternoon tea is better?) The ambiance and view is absolutely gorgeous so make sure to check it out. A great place for a date. Don’t forget to step outside for a cocktail(it’s a little pricey) and admire the beautiful skyline and flashy lights from HSBC building! The view definitely makes up for the food.

Great spot to watch the nightly light show. It’s right neart the HSBC building so you get to see the lights real close up. The bar itself plays is a swanky place to chill out, with the subtle dance /chill beats in the background. Drinkies are great, loved the cocktails and the generous portions of bar snacks! The vibe was a little too stand-off-ish, people there stuck to their own groups and treated everyone else as invisible. Definitely not interested in giving anyone else a friendly smile.

Best view in Hong Kong — I don’t know. It’s very nice view if you get a place at the right location. Otherwise you see and hear the A/C devices from the other building that it. A lot of people here complained about the service — I can say I had no problem. The service was fast, friendly and supportive. The food(snacks) and the drinks leave a mixed impression. We had various Cocktail, some were good but some were just average. But all are priced at the upper end of the price range. The snacks were nothing special you can get them in the same or better quality anywhere else.

Swanky and pretentious but you would go a long way to beat that view. It’s expensive but definitely worth it for a few drinks

Cousin catch-up at super swank chill outdoor lounge. Very nice bottle Montepulciano d’Abruzzo, full bodied red shared around the table. Lucky to nab full outdoor seating couches Love the crew and vibe. Def perfect for conversation

Three stars for the view of central ! Zero star for the services! It’s really slow and very hard to get services until you decide to complaint! For the price they charge, customers would expect better service quality! It’s a venue for guest out of town, but if you work in Central HK, there are much better venue to go after work!

This review is for their afternoon tea. No reservations. Lines start around 2ish for afternoon tea service starting at 3pm. There are a lot of things to not like about this place: 1. The service. Or the lack thereof. The waitresses, waiters, hostesses are all extremely rude. They do not care about their customers and think they are god. 2. The afternoon tea set comes with only 2 selection of tea. Earl Grey and English breakfast. If you want any other type of tea, it’s an ADDITIONALCOST. The tea set is priced on the higher end, it is crazy to charge your customers more money for a different type of tea! 3. They don’t have tap water. You must order bottled water. 4. The afternoon tea set is for TWO, yet they only give you 1 for some items. ONE chocolate-dipped strawberry? Are you fuckin’ kidding me? How would you like us to split that? 5. The so-called ‘view’ that everyone is raving about? Meh. Seriously? Nothing to call home about. Go to the Ritz on TST. Now that is what I call a view. Bottom line — don’t go. you’re welcome ============================= Review #174

I heard Jamie Chua came here all the time so I wondered why? I came here on a Tuesday with my mom for lunch. We both got their set lunch of the day and the portion was great. It was about $ 90USD per person and I think it was a little overpriced for what they had to serve. However, the restaurants view was amazing and the waiters are friendly. Will be back for desserts next time!

Sevva has one of the best views from a bar/restaurant. I’ve never heard good things about the food so I’ve never been in the restaurant. Despite how hot Hk is and its a rooftop bar they don’t allow shorts for guys. The drinks are expensive, varying quality, service poor quality so the only thing that keeps it open is the view and bankers/lawyers trying to feel important.

Despite poor service and waiters who are not very bright, Sevva has one of the best views of HK in the outdoor area. If you have a sweet tooth, this is the place to go to enjoy with friends. The Marie-Antoniette or King Louis cakes are über yummy. Or go for simple cakes like the crunch cake. If you don’t want to have any alcohol, their tea is good too. This fancy place isn’t cheap. Great place to bring friends from overseas to see the beautiful view of the Victoria Harbour.

The terrace and the view are every bit as incredible as the photos suggest. However you definitely will pay for that view and the crowd has a decidedly investment banking flavour to it. Up to you to say if its your type of environment or not. For me, I prefer the views of Wooloomooloo in Wan Chai, which is higher and less obstructed by surrounding buildings.

I personally love this place. The only reason I’m not giving Sevva 5 stars is because it’s so damn expensive and at night, it’s really hard to find any seats. A big plus, though, is that there are quite a few standing tables near the balcony. The views are spectacular. You get a great view of the Harbour and the Central buildings. Definitely a great place to take a date or just to take pictures because there’s no cover charge. My tip: if you’re not willing to pay for the drinks, go up, take a few pictures with your friends, chill out, then go back to LKF and have fun :)

Perfect spot for first dates. And that probably explains why I didn’t come here as often as I used to be… =) They have undoubtedly one of the best views of the Harbour from the Island side, and it reflects properly on the price of the drinks and food. Don’t expect seats on the balcony — they are reserved for people who pays for the minimum charge of whatever grands, and the best spots next to the edge are all tall, standing tables. Kind of an arrogant design, but hey, they have the best view of the Harbour… Just before 6:00pm it is perfect, bankers got off work and the sneaky accountants who come here for an early drinks have to go back to their office(on the same building). After 7pm it is often overcrowded, and depends on what kind of dates you are having, you may run into way too many friends, colleagues and clients than you should. If you are persistent enough to stay past 8pm, boom, a Symphony of Lights. For everyone I come with for the first time, I will always tell them the anecdote about HSBC Headquarters. Have you ever thought of the reason why HSBC(and hence, Sevva) got such a good view of the Harbour? Yeah, let me tell you the same anecdote next time we are there! And one small downfall — the staff *may* react differently if they think you are not a banker, or are not spending as much as a banker would. Kind of sad, really, but did I mention they have the best view of…

Meeting SEVVA is like meeting the really-good-on-paper guy. He’s smart, successful, and happens to be handsome too, with only one major issue. He’s one helluva cocky bastard with a huge ego. That’s SEVVA for you. It’s charming, alluring, offering great views and pretty darn good cocktails, but the service falls really short for a place that charges 160HKD and up(~20USD) for a drink. Weirdly, the service doesn’t seem to deter people from coming because I’ve heard from multiple friends warning me that the service isn’t the best but they still hang here from time to time. SEVVA could have earned a very special place in my heart, if they worked on improving their service a bit. You really can’t beat the sexy views though. good for: Place to take visitor friends to Jazz lovers(they have jazz on weeknights) Impressing clients

I came here for a quiet lunch on my own. I needed some me time. Sick. Lunch. Comfortable couches to sink into while becoming mildly inebriated by one of the best cocktails and sandwich I’ve ever had for lunch. Pricey, yes. Satiating? Absolutely. The infamous big, yellow rubber duckie just happened to be in view as well over the bay during my sips and nibbles. I’d go back. Easily, for lunch again.

Never a big fan of this place– it’s mostly for pretentious people who want to see and be seen. However I must say the place is tastefully decorated, thanks to Bonnae Gokson, global socialite and style maven(Ms. B, yes, the cake Ms. B) and sister to fashion doyenne Joyce Ma(yes, of Joyce Boutique) Food is beautifully presented but nothing to write home about. Cuisine is global comfort food(or the many of Ms. B’s favorite things), amped up with expensive ingredients-so there’s no way it could taste bad. Honestly. My personal favorite is the upmarket pork chop rice(yes, the tomato-y, Cha chan teng kind). Made with breaded Japanese kurobuta pork, Taiwanese pearl rice fried with shelled sweet peas(as opposed to frozen green peas) and smothered in homemade ketchup(as opposed to the Del Monte variety) and then baked to perfection, the finer ingredients offered a delicate and luxurious take on this local favorite. At $ 200+ a pop, it ain’t cheap. Many enjoy the restaurant’s rooftop bar the view of which rivals that of China Club’s(its more or less the same piece of view they’re sharing, since both restaurants are across from each other. On any given day, you will find many well-heeled Centralites enjoying an after-work drink with colleagues.
