In 2007, we took our first trip to China for 6 weeks, and my husband got to experience his first haircut overseas. It was done in a small barbershop, and he came out with his first bowl cut since childhood. I knew the day would come again when he would get a haircut abroad. Needless to say, after a couple months in Hong Kong, it was time for a trim up.
We wandered into Salon Salon one Saturday, and my husband was given a booklet so that he could choose his style. This book consisted of hairstyles that I can describe as the complete history of Kpop boy bands in the past 10 years. He insisted that he just wanted a trim, but his hair was so long it was starting to curl at the ends and it was hard to see any sort of style that it may have come from.
I pulled out my phone and showed the stylist a Facebook photo of my husband. He said ok, and started trimming. I wandered around at the nearby stores and then returned. My husband had a pretty nice haircut. It wasn’t perfect, but it got the job done. He has since returned several times, and always comes back looking nice and sharp.
If you choose to go here, I highly recommend bringing them a picture of the hairstyle that you want, unless the boy band thing is right up your alley.
