We are regulars here; especially for the chicken phở. Most people go for the raw beef phở when it comes the Vietnamese noodles and it’s good here. But the Chicken Phở is better. I alternate 3 chicken 1 beef when I come this place. & I order some morning glory with it.

Dishes are in right portion, good for self or order multiple dishes for sharing among friends. The beef soup with Phở is wonderful, rich in beef taste, good to combining with basil. Tea sets during Mon-Fri starting at 14:30, good for first comers to try on different dishes in relatively smaller portion in discounted price.

This Vietnamese restaurant doesn’t have an English name, but its Chinese name literally means ‘Vietnamese kid’. Located along Electric Road in Tin Hau, 越南仔 is just a couple minutes’ walk from Victoria Park, so it’s actually walking distance from Causeway Bay.(That is, if you’re coming from Sogo or any place near it… Walking from, say, Times Square would be quite the workout!) I have only ever been to 越南仔 during the afternoon to catch their tea sets. I’m not sure about weekends, but during weekdays, they do afternoon tea sets that are quite reasonably priced. Phở with raw beef and a drink adds up to less than $ 50, which is a pretty good deal! The phở here is not bad, though I find that the soup is quite salty and MSG-ish. The portion is decent for an afternoon tea set — a portion like this would be good enough for even a lunch. I find that the beef is a little inconsistent — sometimes quite tender but sometimes a bit hard. As for drinks, I normally just get iced lemon tea here. My friends like the traditional Vietnamese drop coffee, but to me that is way too sweet. Service here is decent. Once, my friends and I arrived here around ten minutes before the afternoon tea menu comes into effect, but one of the waiters informed us that we can just go ahead and order first anyway. Taiwanese fried chicken Hot Star is a couple minutes from this restaurant, and we often buy some to share and bring it here to eat too, and the waiters do not mind that we’re bringing in outside food. Overall, food here is not spectacular but it is good value for money. If you’re craving Vietnamese food, a better choice would be Nha Trang — pricier, but also better quality food!
