I’m feeling a little bit sad. Outback Steakhouse was one of those places that always reminded me of home. It was supposed to be hearty steaks, big fat fries, baked potatoes covered in sour cream and bacon, and all of it in slightly too big portions. However, it all seems to have gone downhill a bit. I have come for a Tuesday lunch, which very reasonably priced at less than 100HKD, included a soup, salad, your selection of main and soft drink. The soup was, to be fair, a tasty sweetcorn, but other than that the meal was a disappointment. The salad was limp, the milk tea was so weak it couldn’t punch it’s way out of a wet paper bag, and the main course of baby back ribs was school dinner at best, and came with a meagre side of cold fries. The BBQ sauce(which was an additional request) was tasty with a spicy, tangy zing, and the only thing actually hot on my plate. The remainder of the menu is steak, burgers, grilled chicken, salads, a sort of Aussie themed TGI’s. Main course will set you back 120−200HKD. The a-la-carte options are a little more substantial in size and a lot hotter in temperature, so perhaps save your Aussie treats for an evening meal. Otherwise, the staff are adequately professional, but not hugely personable. The interior is a little tired, and could probably do with a really good clean. Overall, it’s fine. Not brilliant, but perfectly fine for a belly full.
