As a frequent exhibit goer and art practitioner, Oi! might not be something fully gratifying. People like us have heightened standards and eyes for art pieces– what on Earth could please us?
Oi! is located right next to my apartment and I usually walk to work– I have therefore plenty of chances to visit their shows whenever made available. To my very big surprise, people do care to LINE UP for taking a picture at the gigantic mirror installation over weekends. Yes, it’s plural, weekends. You can see all sorts of people posing in front of the installation which is supposed to be a mirror reflecting a mockup building lying on the ground, so people can literally lie down on the fake building exterior and play a prank!
The new show would be coming up involving 100ft. Park, another local initiative on art and culture based in Lai Chi Kok. Oi! is definitely not the MoMa but it is perhaps a good connotation for the HK Government to bring forth engaging art to the public.
