Closed when we got there at 10pm. So we only got to enjoy the metal gate protecting the front door.

Thought I didn’t speak Cantonese and tried to overcharge me. Ordered the BBQ pork and duck. Both were dry. Didn’t bother to finish and went somewhere else.

This place has been around for ages and has never ceased to satisfy my siu mei cravings! My grandma would come here way back in the days and buy either an entire roasted duck or char siu from what I can recall whenever I spent the entire summer in HK back in my younger days. It is a complete hole-in-the-wall type of place and only has a few tables but don’t let this scare you off. The food is legit and much better(and cheaper) than other places in town that serve up Cantonese style BBQ! Yes, everything is entirely in Chinese and I doubt anyone speaks English in here but just learn a few phrases and you’ll be golden. Or just point at whatever fancies your taste buds and cross your fingers they’ll get your order right. I recommend going with their 4 course combo(四寶飯), which typically comes with roasted duck, BBQ pork and soya chicken and a salted egg. If you’re appetite isn’t that big, you can probably share this with another person. The price is just around $ 30-ish HKD or so, which is cheaper than a beverage at some places! They’ll also give you a soup to start off with(included with your meal). It’ll prepare your belly for the tastiness that is to come! If you happen to be in the Jordan area and craving for some damn good BBQ meats, give this place a shot!

If you aren’t a local don’t bother entering this shop. Upon arrival I was shunned away as the guy blocked my path and kept saying no. What establishment turns away money?

Stopped here solely on the strength of previous Unilocal reviews and boy am I glad I did. It was a bit intimidating at first for a white guy with no Canto. But as I was hanging around outside a customer saw me and just said one word, «Delicious!» Grabbed a table and ordered by pointing at the BBQ pork and the roast pork. The soup came immediately and was really good. Plenty of pork knuckle in a hearty broth. It reminded me of an ox tail soup my mom used to make. Before I got very far on the soup my plate arrived. The gentleman who invited me in was absolutely correct. The roast pork was perfectly cooked with a wonderful crispy skin. The BBQ was amazing with a great balance of flavor. Not too sweet or too spicy. Tons of food this good seems like a steal at this price. Delicious indeed.

I can’t believe you can get quality Cantonese roast meats at such a good price. I had a plate of roast duck and BBQ pork with rice for a mere HK$ 27. The duck was juicy and moist(though the skin wasn’t particularly crispy — it’s hard to get both at the same time, but if I have to pick I’ll go with moist meat). The BBQ pork was thickly cut and had a satisfying meaty mouth feel. It wasn’t too fatty or sweet as others I’ve had.

I don’t know how I haven’t reviewed them yet. I’d passed here many times and saw that there was always a line. One day, I decided to check it out and they have an afternoon tea special. $ 20 for noodles with a choice of one or two toppings. I had the BBQ pork and chicken. The chicken was fine, but oh, the BBQ pork was so good. Juicy an not too fat. The unique thing about the noodles is that they place the soup in a veggie soup that would usually be served on the side of a rice plate. Fine with me, it was all yummy. I went back for a second visit for roast pork and BBQ pork. Both. so. good. The BBQ pork was again very flavorful and perfect amount of fat. The roast pork had nice and crunchy skin. We ordered one plate of BBQ pork, one plate of roast pork and two bowls of rice, and got 3 complimentary bowls of soup for 3 of us. Total was $ 210. Can’t wait to go back soon!

I’ve walked by this shop many times on the way to the market, and there is ALWAYS a line to buy take away. I decided that I need to go in and try their BBQ. And boy am I sure glad I did. I ordered a BBQ pork and flat noodle soup(hor fun) off of their afternoon tea menu and it’s probably one of the best deals I’ve gotten($ 20). The portion is generous and, most importantly, the BBQ pork was perfect. The meat was tender, juicy and well marbled. The taste was just sweet enough, but not overbearing. The thing that made me decide to give this a 5 star rating was the surprise that the soup was actually not just a plain broth! It was a soup made with watercress that is usually serviced when you order rice. I also love the old traditional Hong Kong feel that this shop has. You can tell it has weathered many years of laughter and roasting. If you’re in the Jordan area, definitely give this place a try.
