This place is like a half food court style ramen place. And it has a plus 10% service to it. So I will review this restaurant based on both food and service. I arrived with a Japanese style welcome, but the volume was rather low. As we were seated, the server delivered two hot tea for the adults and one cold water for the kid. I would consider that as very detailed oriented service. However, we were not being served for ordering food and refilling drinks for a very long time. Clearly the waiting staffs were not doing their jobs but chatting with each other for a good 15 minutes, disregarding the customers. As for the food, it took much longer than normal for ramen to be served. Which is disappointing. I think the only thing to save this experience for now is the taste of the food. However, the food is just so so. Worse is the portion being small. And I am specifically saying small for they only provide one slice of pork. And the limited edition fish spice ramen is nothing special. As the service nearly ended, I have noticed the servers only care to clear the table and getting the bill. They will not refill tea and water unless asked for. Overall, I am disappointed by the portion of meat, but mostly by the service. Totally not worth the 10% added mandatorily.

I have to say that I have tried this place several times but it seems like it is not as good as it used to be. There are quite a few branches of this place around Hong Kong, all have a slight difference in terms of the names but I do not really see much difference regarding its dishes and food quality. I always love ramen. I guess I am one of those locals who just adore Japanese culture but too poor to book a ticket to fly to Japan. Anyhow, whenever I am hungry, the first thing that pops up in my head has to be Japanese food — sushi, sashimi, ramen, etc. Menya Musashi offers quite decent ramen and it is sort of better than the average ramen. And one more thing I like about this place is its logo — a traditional Japanese soldier holder a sword — a rather cool design I have to say. For the ramen, there are several choices like the red spicy one; the black one with squid oil and the white one with original taste. Since I cannot take the heat; and I certainly do not want my teeth to go scary black, I normally go for the plain pork one so as it tastes just as good. One good thing about this place is that egg sometimes is served as a whole instead of chopped in half. I love it when they do that as once I bite into it, its egg yolk will squirt out and it is a fun feeling.
