Madame Tussauds Hong Kong

Don’t buy the custom made wax figure of your hand. It will deform very soon after you take it home.

Passed by the one in Times Square numerous times while I was living in NYC, I had no idea how much fun it would be taking random goofy pictures with all the wax figures. The big differentiating factor would of course be the inclusion of Asian celebrities at this branch. Great times and admission can be purchased as a package when taking the tram.

We visited on a rainy day (lol.of course) and getting to it was a breeze… we took the Victoria Peak tram (using our Octopus Card separately, very convenient and cheaper than booked with the entrance tickets) headed for a mini ride diagonally… we prepaid online for our entrance and 2 guidebooks (about USD$ 1.90 each) and got a very good deal for two. Many Asian stars that I never heard of before (and that is the beauty of Madame Tussauds) so I had to appreciate what others view in their part of this world. Actually, only one display surprised me: the Hello Kitty display .I never saw that in Hollywood, Beijing, London, Las Vegas, New York, Blackpool or Washington, D.C.
The statues were evenly paced and represented famous figures from around the world.

Very impressive! Not as good as London’s but very enjoyable. I bought a package deal with the Peak tram and Madame Tussauds. I enjoyed the differences especially with the Asian celebrities. Some I didn’t recognize, but I liked Michelle Yeoh and you have to pay extra to get a picture with Jackie Chan.

I was really pleasantly surprised. Never been to a wax museum before and wasn’t particularly excited, until I got there. Very touristy, but nice. Some of the figures were very life-​like, particularly Deng Xiaoping. Worth the visit, once was enough, but glad I went nonetheless.

I came to this Madame Tussaud’s since I did a tour with Greyline where they gave us a ticket up to the Peak + entrance into Madame Tussaud’s. Given how small everything in HK is, it’s pretty astounding how freakishly large the Madame Tussaud’s is in a place where you would guess that real estate is probably really expensive. They have a lot going on in here which I think is pretty cool. You’ve got your typical famous American historic figures as well as famous Chinese/​HK historic figures, some present and dead famous people, as well as a cartoon section! That was pretty cute – there was a Hello Kitty, etc.
There’s also of course a section where they manage to charge you money for professional photographs with wax President Obama which is humorous.
tldr; decent but nothing amazing. just your standard madame tussaud’s. larger than you’d expect

When it’s sometimes hard to find celebrities out in public, coming to the wax museum comes close to seeing the real thing.
Located at the Peak of Hong Kong, I came when it was about to close.
The layout is very simple, enter in and you follow the path until the end. During each section, there is a theme and each theme would have the celebrity wax figure to match that theme. Whether it is from a movie set, or just a simple backdrop, you will recognize many of the wax figures if you follow mainstream popular culture media.
Jackie Chan, Yao Ming, Andy Lau, and many other Hong Kong/​Asian actors are the focus at this location. If you are foreigner/​tourist who is not familiar with Hong Kong/​Asian cinema, you probably won’t recognize some of the celebrities.
It’s worth it to visit once, especially if you have never been, and if you’re in the area and have time to kill.

Of all places to visit Madame Tussauds, I came to the one in Hong Kong. Back in 2006, before I knew of Unilocal and had a general desire to plan my trips around food, I thought this would be a good idea. And at the time, our visit was enjoyable. We took hundreds of photos of and with celebrity wax figures and obviously, there were more Asian celebrities at this location than others, including Jay Chou and Andy On. A wave of embarrassment rushes through me when I look at those photos, so I’ll just spare you and not post them.
It’s a fun place to check out if you’re younger than 21. Otherwise, I’d say skip. And, if you’ve visited one Madame Tussauds, then you’ve pretty much visited them all.

The first time I heard about Madame Tussauds was actually from an English textbook I had during high school where one chapter introduced the tourist attractions in Hong Kong; after that I have always wanted to go there as I thought, where else could one meet that many celebrities from around the world all in one place? (And secretly I thought it would be funny to see wax figures as I firmly believed there must be something off with the models…)
Madame Tussauds Hong Kong is located at the Peak Tower and I highly recommend buying the packaged ticket which includes the entry fee and also the tram fees, it would be quite pricey if you pay everything separately for a moderately-​sized attraction. So there I was, inside the museum and the first impression to me was — it was rather small but on second thought, as this was a place for snapping pictures only so size did not really matter much so long as there were the ‘celebrities’ I would like to ‘meet’. The place was divided according to themes including Music Icons, Hong Kong Glamour, The Champions, Authentic History, Fantasy Kingdom and more. The models that I saw mostly were fairly nice; some were awfully uncanny though, in a good way.
Figures like Andy Lau and Jackie Chan no doubt attracted most people of all but surprisingly the staff did not allow people to take pictures with Jackie Chan… (maybe he is too well-​known… for unknown reasons… and I still wonder how he gets this far…) Apart from that, this is a rather interesting place for first-​timer but I doubt I would go again unless my friends insist… as like I said, this is the place for taking pictures with your ‘idols’, other than that, sadly there isn’t much you can do.
