Lok Ma Chau Car Park

Ask anyone for a place to park your car at Lok Ma Chau and this is the one that most people will recommend. The reason for this is quite clear– its the cheapest considering its location being right next to the Huanggang bus station. Situated right on the side of the main road, the car park is easily accessible and much preferable to the section «B» which requires another car ride to pick up your car.
Given that they are charging you for 70 HKD per day there is nothing much to talk about in terms of the location– its not covered, its not paved and the staff there are seem to think that they own you because you are parking your car here. The spaces are vaguely drawn out and on busy weekends you always have to play the game whereby everyone seems to park closer to each other until someone does hit someone else. Not sure whether anyone has collected any parking dents here but I wouldn’t be surprised at all.
The other thing to note is that this place has a strange ability to cover your car in grit after a day. It is next to the main road which could account for the dust but there is nothing around that could explain the spots of «gunk» that seems to collect on your car. Maybe its from the trees nearby but I cannot confirm this. I think the main thing to decide is what car you drive: if you drive a ferrari then no, don’t come here. If you are like the rest of us driving something normal then you can give it a try before you just think its too dirty and packed and you will park next door.
