Kenjo literally blew my mind. Everything I ate here was just phenomenal! I arrived at about 8pm and were seated at the bar. This restaurant is very small, bar seating for about 15 and another 4 – 5 tables. Make reservations! I highly recommend sitting at the bar. This is a no thrills unbelievable sushi. It almost blows my mind how the quality can be on such a high level, making great sushi taste mediocre. You are also given 5 different types of oshinko’s, Fresh grated Wasabi and White Ginger Dinner at the bar is Omakase only you’ll notice a repeating(BEST) Medium toro — Best I ever had Baby Tuna toro — Best I ever head Yellow tail Belly Abalone O toro — Scallop with sea salt Sea Eel Jumbo Botan Ebi — Best I ever had Super sweet! Japanese Sea urchin Salmon Roe — Largest and Sweetest I ever tried. Usually salty. Toro hand Roll Salmon Belly Hand Roll

Been to the all of the best sushi places in New Orleans, San Francisco, and Los Angeles.(I have been to over 100 sushi joints over the years.) Kenjo is better than than all but one! A fabulous meal. Eel was fantastic. Fatty tuna roll was the best roll I have ever eaten! Tempura was very good. Salmon sashimi was the fattiest, most tasty, and most tender have ever eaten. Nice sake selection. Excellent service. Dinner does not start until 6pm! Highly recommended. Final bill, 900HKD with sake and dessert — I never order the combos, I always order a la carte — you could have a wonderful meal for much less. A memorable meal – Highly recommended!

Beware of this place. I booked this restaurant for an early New Years Eve dinner. When we arrived, we found the menu to be a bit more authentic than what we were accustomed to back in the U.S. so we had some trouble figuring out what to order. The seemingly helpful waitress made a couple of suggestions to help out a member of our party that is not a big fan of raw fish. The suggested items included a single medium sized cooked scallop for each person(6 total scallops) as well as a special fish that was about a foot long. It was served whole in a beautiful presentation and both the scallops and the fish were good.(not particularly outstanding, but definitely enjoyable) Then we got the bill — The six scallops rang in at about $ 530HKD(~$ 70 U.S.) and the fish was $ 1,500HKD(~$ 200 U.S.). Everything else we ordered from the menu was moderately priced. Keep in mind these dishes were specifically suggested by our waitress who gave no indication of their price. If we were dining at Nobu, I might have thought to ask but this was a casual restaurant in a back alley of Hong Kong. I suppose there’s a chance this young waitress may have thought she was just being helpful(I highly doubt it). But I might recommend in the future that she be coached when recommending $ 200 dishes at a restaurant where the average dish is 1⁄10 that amount, most people appreciate being warned ahead of time.

Always there for the infamous sushi set lunch. Love the tuna, sea urchin, salmon roe, and today the seasonal fish is hamachi. Great food, really fresh, good sushi from the jap chef and good service, probably best lunch deal in HK.

Wow what a great deal! Good bang for the buck in this cute little Japanese restaurant tucked in an unassuming street, almost alley, in Tsui Sha Tsui. Last call is 2:30 and we got there around 2pm on a Sunday. We had wait a little for the bar to clear up. It’s a very small restaurant with only maybe capacity for 20 people or so. We ordered a sashimi lunch set and a tempura set and man it was such a great deal! My sashimi set includes almost 10 pieces of assorted fish like yellowtail, maguro, salmon, imitation crab(don’t care), but hey they put amaebi and toro on my plate too and that was quite a nice surprise! Not only the sashimi was plentiful and amazing, my set also came with the steamed egg, miso soup and some pickled vegetables! The tempura was pretty good too and I liked the fried fish, very flavorful and tender! The sashimi set cost around $ 220 and the tempura a little less than $ 200. The prices are reasonable for the portions and the quality! Very great deal! Just come here earlier and be prepared to wait.

Place is tiny and sparse, but that doesn’t matter because the food is outstanding. I haven’t had sushi this great in a while. Fish was really fresh(I really enjoyed the tunas). Also got the melon for desert. Was never really a big melon fan but I would go back to this place for the melon alone. Highly recommended.

Kenjo has got a long history in Hong Kong. The main shop is located in a small and quiet street in Tim Sha Tsui. Kenjo is small, has got only a few tables and the sushi counter. The setting is simple and typical for a sushi bar. If you’re looking for fancy and modern décor go elsewhere. The place actually could need some renovation. But you go to Kenjo because of the food. This is Sashimi and Sushi at its best. Very traditional and classic. They always have seasonal recommendations which are not on the menu. The friendly and attentive staff will always tell you what specials they have. My favorites are Toro, wild hamachi, Sardine and Uni. Sometimes they serve whole fresh Uni which is especially delicious. Make sure to try all different kinds of sushi. The rice is just perfect. If you eat hand rolls, the nori is still crispy, which is especially nice. All the fish is very fresh and flown in daily from the Tokyo fish market. Hot fare includes Udon, soba and Tempura which nicely complements the raw fish. Kenjo can be expensive, especially if you come for dinner. Lunch is really inexpensive, the selection of sets is great and the portions generous. In general IMHO it’s very good value for money, no matter if you come for lunch or dinner.
