Cozy décor, good food and big portions! Great lunch set during the week. Been here a few times for lunch. The first time I ordered a la carte to try a few more items but learned the lunch set is definitely the best bargain. A la carte items were very big portions, much bigger than normal for HK. One of my regular spots for lunch, but it can get a busy sometimes so call ahead.

After getting a foot massage at Ten Feet Tall in this building, my husband and I wanted to eat at one of the many restaurants in this building. On a crap shoot, we choose Indonesian Restaurant 1968. Walking in around 6:45pm on a Saturday without a reservation, they were able to seat us, but the place had filled up within the hour(with a lot of groups too, for this place would be good for groups). We were sat quickly, order taken and before we knew it, food was in front of us. We felt the delivery of food was super fast(a good sign that this place would be a good lunch spot too). The space is vintage, low lit, comfortable, woods, open kitchen. Some high top tables, mostly regular tables, the rooms flowed pretty good and had a good vibe. Staff was welcoming, efficient, on it. We enjoyed pineapple fried rice, tofu, some curry and a fish. I do not eat meat and in addition to a vegetarian menu(you have to ask for it), there were plenty of options. Food was served fast, hot, good quality and tasty. Although nothing culinarily off the charts going on here, I found this place good and would go back. Maybe warrants 3.5 stars if I had to get specific, but for purposes of kind of a rustic cool factor going on here, they get 4 star.

Such a cozy place: cushioned seats with pillows everywhere! We came here on a Sunday afternoon. It’s a great time to go because it’s not busy and food can come quickly. We ordered a rice plate with three different curry dishes and a chicken leg/thigh. The curry dishes were all very differently flavorful. One was really spicy for my taste but still tasty. The next dish we had was beef tongue curry on top of a layer of tomato and potato. At first I didn’t know it was beef tongue and I would have never guessed what it was! The curry was on the sweeter side, and the meat is so tender! If you’re okay with eating beef tongue, this is the dish to get! It doesn’t come with rice so order a side. I tried the Indonesian Coconut drink with green gellly at the bottom. For me, it was too sweet and not balanced enough. If you want some coconut, just go with the natural coconut.

Although the 3 handsome owners were not around during lunchtime today, the lunch experience was still good as the food has kept up to standard since i came here like 2 years ago. With 5 people we have all the lunch sets and shared. Both sharing plates and bowls were provided(although we know we may be a bit demanding here). The ox tongue stew is still my favourite. The curry and the laksa is a bit low in coconut but i guess this is the indo style?! The hot indo coffee is very good surprisingly tho. Environment is decent and hip. Will come back again for lunch(hopefully the handsome brothers will be here next time)

I grew up in Jakarta for 5 years and I like this place. I like their soto ayam, and fried rice is good for sharing, and I like the fish special with the sweet soy sauce, and gado gado, and chicken, and I mean it’s Indo food. If you like it, you will like this place. And I would recommend it for both lunch and dinner, reasonable prices.

Why is this place empty at lunch on a weekday? Or at dinner on a weekend? Even if you’re not a fan of Indonesian cuisine(heresy!), the décor here is so rustic chic that it’s impossible not to be drawn by the light pine woods and cosy nooks. Had lunch here yesterday(with good vibes still lingering from my last impromptu dinner here), and was still as satisfied as ever. The nasi goreng with a fried egg and satay to boot, was well seasoned and a generous plate for a lunch set. My friend had a coconut chicken rice, which was literally chicken boiled in A COCONUT — like a mild green curry but with that extra *wow* aesthetic of being in a damn coconut. Again, generously portioned. A small complimentary spicy chicken salad was offered as an appetizer. The set also comes with your choice of drink — we had lime sodas. From the a la carte menu, the dishes are meant for sharing, and include well-executed Indonesian classics as well as some more unusual dishes, like the fried Balinese eggs with sambal.

I have just discovered this place, and I am quite happy about it. It was recommended to my best friend and we decided to go there for dinner before she headed back to London. We arrived there by 9.30pm on a Saturday night and it was half empty(maybe it’s a bit too late for Hong Kong?). They sat us at a table close to the open kitchen and we asked to be moved a bit further, less noisy. The thing is, it’s noisy everywhere in the restaurant so it didn’t make any difference. Our waitress arrived with the drinks and food menus(including a veggie menu) and we started to flick through. Everything sounded really good and we went for the crispy duck and the rendang beef. We asked if they came with veggies and the waitress answer was ‘no’, no suggestions… so we ordered two more dishes: the tofu and egg salad with peanut sauce and the water spinach with garlic. We were delighted to see the plates coming: presentation is great and everything looked amazing. However, we missed a bit of advice by the waiter as we had just realized we had ordered too much(we ended up taking away some of the food…). She didn’t comment on the size of the portions or the fact that there were some veggies in the duck… In fairness, the food was excellent. For a central place like this, in such a nicely decorated spot, it’s also great value for money. I’d recommend this place, actually I’m going back there to try a few other dishes on their menu that sounded soo good, it made our order really difficult!

After some retail therapy at the new Zara flagship store, our tummies are rumbling for some authentic Indonesian food ^^ Rustic décor, dim light, with an open kitchen and a full bar, it reminds me of the Indonesian street-side night market. Spacious and relaxing ambience, we just love it! We’ve ordered Gado Gado salad(love the peanut sauce), potato beef cake, stir fried garlic baby cabbage, Hainan chicken rice set and Rendang beef. The Hainan chicken is nice and tender, side with rice which is wrapped in fragrant lotus leave, which adds a special flavour. Rendang beef is juicy and tender covered in an authentic sauce, definitely a great dish to go with rice! Great news for vegetarians — They do support Green Monday!
