The Hot-Star franchise is alive and well … in Hong Kong no less. With multiple locations popping up all around the city, it’s no surprise the Hot-Star folks have made a home in Jordan, where eating is practically a religion. Now Taiwanese fried chicken can be added to the long list of delicious things to eat in the neighborhood. I personally enjoy rocking a nice chicken cutlet(雞排) for a quick bite and it’s large enough to serve as a good sized snack. For the less gluttonous eaters, it’s an easy meal in itself. It costs $ 20HKD and is breaded and seasoned quite well. While it reminds me a lot of the ones I’ve had in Taiwan, it doesn’t quite replace the nostalgia but it’ll do just fine. For folks preferring a smaller option, there are the chicken nugget sized equivalents as well, which range from $ 30-$ 50 depending on size. As always, long wooden picks are included not to get one’s hands dirty, because this stuff is über greasy. For sharing amongst hungry friends, this is the way to go. There might be a line, but don’t ever let that be a deterrent. Lines usually mean something is worth waiting for in these parts and thankfully it moves quick enough to where it’s not an issue. The chicken comes out quick and as always, it’s all cash only.

Best fried chicken for the money and located in almost every busy intersection in Kowloon. Best deal is 3 drumsticks for $ 30HKD.

This location is not closed! It is delicious, and the staff is delightful! The chicken is not a whit greasy, and prices seem very reasonable. You can get it dusted with ‘regular’ or ‘spicy’ seasoning. The spicy is quite hot, so don’t choose it unless you’re a fire-eater!

This is another franchise of the hugely popular Hot-Star Taiwanese fried chicken empire. Freshly fried chicken breast(with bones so you know it’s real) as big as a large dinner plate! Located on the ever busy Jordan road a few blocks from Jordan MTR and around the corner from the Temple Street markets, this little shop certainly has the foot traffic to be successful. Prices are standard(read quite cheap) and you can’t certainly can’t go wrong if you’re looking for a quick snack or a substantial feed. I have to say though, the chicken bites and fried cartilage make for awesome drinking food!
